Any tips to save the FX 0.5% charge on larger exchange transactions other than breaking it up over months. Do paid plans offer this and can you upgrade for just a month?

Payments to AIB credit cards still don’t seem to be fixed. Tried it yesterday and it was refunded to my account this morning.

If you've received your final response letter you can go to the Ombudsman. If it takes a financial institution longer than 40 days to issue you with a final response, you can then go to the Ombudsman without a final response.

Paid plans offer a higher limit (amount depends on the plan) and yes you can do for a month and then downgrade if you want.

Hadnt used revolut card for some time since my online purchases have dried up somewhat. However was reading through thread to figure out if better to get Turkish Lira from bank before I leave or simply convert some euro to lira on app and withdraw when I get there. Has anyone had any issues withdrawing lira via atm in Turkey? Tbh in recent years anywhere I've been abroad has been in the eurozone so this currency think is a blast from the past and I'm an old dog railing against change😂

I would say your biggest issue will be the Turkish economy more than anything, they've been suffering from staggering inflation for years now which has majorly devalued their currency

Just did a quick check on Revolut and it didn't mention any exchange fees, other banks may possibly put a surcharge or give you a terrible rate because it's a somewhat unstable currency

Can't really answer the ATM question unfortunately, personally I'd convert maybe €200 ahead of time and then see how I go with using the card for transactions. At least then you won't be stuck with cash Lira that's a pain to convert back to Euros

Sorry for question I'm sure has been asked a lot, but why can you only see certain recurring payments in pockets. I can add Vodafone, and Irish life but not mortgage or borgais seems I'm missing something but cant figure it out .

Re: AIB Credit Card payments, I noticed lately that when I transfer from BOI to Revolut, the reference and description do not appear on Revolut, whereas the "message to" field appears as the reference in revolut. Something definitely up with the way they process their payment information.

Have many of your mortgage payments come out?

I found revolut needs a number of payments to leave before it realises the payment is recurring.

I've been wondering about this too, everything shows as recurring except GoMo

I think it's because the GoMo bill is paid by card, although so are my other subscriptions and they're showing as recurring

It's been paying out every month for nearly a year, so Revolut really should have figured it out

EDIT: I found when I went into one of the payments I could mark it as recurring. However it's still now showing as a subscription for the Pocket

2 so far just switched, pity you can't nominate them as recurring instead of waiting for the algorithm to do it. Strange the Vodafone only has 2 payments but it's flagged as recurring.

I can't seem to top up instantly anymore. It's been like this since I got a new device.

I go in and enter and confirm my pin BOI and it just brings me to my balance. I can't confirm in the Revolut app.

Personally I would have thought bringing 50% or whatever of your estimated spend while there in cash and trade it to whomever offers the highest exchange.I have found on travels in countries with a dodgy exchange rate that cash works much better.I do not go to corner hangers to exchange. Each to his own though.

True, it does sound like a fair bit of work though, I'd prefer to be sunning myself on a beach than hunting around for a decent currency exchange

I do agree that a lot of places would probably be cash only operations where the currency is unstable

I went to use my Revolut card online, and decided to use the one-use disposable card number. ( I've used the feature before). The option has gone from my app. The only option I can see in "cards" tab is my regular Revolut card.

Just me, or has there been a change?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,912 ✭✭✭Bummer1234

Disposable card is still there for me anyway on the cards tab.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,781 ✭✭✭beachhead

I can see my regular card and a virtual card-multiple use.The one off virtual card has "disappeared".Maybe your multi use gone by "mistake"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,655 ✭✭✭gipi

    Thanks for the reply.

I found that I had to request a disposable card, it used to display automatically for me.

    All good now, thanks!

Disposable card not showing for me on the cards tab but it looks like I can generate a new one by going into add card.

My disposable card disappeared, but I still have the option to create a new one. Maybe they have a short expiry time for extra security

First cash I bring is usually a float or a judgement about how cash I will need in the first few days or hours.I will look up sites for exchange rates then shop for better rate in 2/3 places every 2 weeks or 1 month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,781 ✭✭✭beachhead

Tapped on "get cards".The virtual disposable is there.

Not to derail the thread but imo once their dictator is inevitably re-elected the Lira will likely take another dip as it's done when he polled well the first time. That'd be a good time to buy some Lira, imo.

I wouldn't even bother with cash since they're very card friendly over there, in my experience anyway!

Set up a mortgage DD from new joint account, is showing as a one off?

I actually need to cancel it and pay by standing order instead (**** PTSB system). When I try to hit the manage direct debit button it doesn't do anything....is that because it's a one off (even though it shouldn't have been?)

Will watch a few more of the so called one off DDs to see if they go through for a second month before the next mortgage repayment is due. The only DD to show as recurring is Revenue for property tax?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 13,566 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

I have a similar issue, only the internet is showing as a recurring payment

I wonder if a few payments have to go through for it to be counted as recurring

So how do you cancel it until the 'manage direct debit' option works I wonder?

Am actually trying to access help via the app but can only seem to do so whole in my personal account (not joint?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 13,566 ✭✭✭✭the_amazing_raisin

Yeah the manage direct debit button doesn't work for me for the payments that think they're a one off

The recurring one has the cancel button available

If you've cancelled the direct debit with PTSB then it shouldn't take any money from your account. Direct debit isn't like a fixed transfer every month, it's an authorisation for someone to take money once a month. So if they take nothing the direct debit it still there, it'll just be inactive

Yeah the property tax one is recurring and the manage button works (that takes you s screen where you can cancel it). Not sure I trust PTSB to actually not take money again using the DD!

Might try the Revolut help and see if they can cancel it. Do you know how to use the help function on a joint account as I can only access from my sole and when I try to select a transaction it only shows them from my sole account (not joint).

I am still waiting to be switched to an Irish IBAN. I still have the Lithuanian one LTxxx. I have a personal account and tax residency shows as Ireland in my account details. I have supplied any required ID docs plus PPS no. in the past confirming I am an Irish citizen with an address here.

I keep seeing statements from Revolut in the media announcing all their personal customers have been migrated to Irish IBANs. When I ask Revolut support I just get told I'll receive an email notifying me when the change will happen if I am eligible.

Anyone else in this position ?
