Any idea of what is being talked about on match thread which supposedly happened with Sexton and LAR back room team,?

Dunno why you're saying that. One thing worse than a bad loser is a bad and ungracious winner. No class at all.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Why would you have a problem with a coach who has won two Champions Cups getting lauded?

The man worked hard to become a head coach. Going and spending two years in New Zealand to learn how they play the game can't have been easy.

He deserves all the credit he gets.

And I'm not a Munster fan, I actually don't like them. I'm from Connacht and I shout for Leinster unless they meet us.

Some sort of bust up between Sexton, SOB, ROG and Skelton.

Skelton just has an infuriating mug on him, really sucks losing to him over and over.

I just thought the narrative in whole build up to game was under dog Rog with litle old LAR against big bad Leinster, it was almost like Leinster weren't the irish team..look to be honest eagle eye I'm just totally gutted.LAR got it right today and Ireland could do a lot worse than have ROG as next coach.

Particularly such a long post where the majority of, if not all people have already tuned out after they see

The point about shooters makes no sense anyway.

You have to rush out at La Rochelle. Their forwards are massive, if you let them run at you they’re going to make metres every single phase no matter how perfect your tackle.

It’s basic physics. Massive units are hard to stop. Will Skelton could take the ball stationary and just stumble forward, he’s still going to make ground cause he’s the size of a bus.

You have to roll the dice and hope to force them into mistakes. The problem comes if they eliminate mistakes, there is no counter to pure unadulterated brute force and size.

Leinsters pack is full of athletic players. You don’t have a big unit.

Great first post and interesting perspectives. Hopefully you continue to contribute here.

Leinster are great at many things. They've huge work rate in defence to make the tackle, roll away and reload back into the defensive line. They're generally excellent at finding the correct spacing in the line after as well.

I do think that what we lack is a genuine threat at the ruck. Porter and Doris are capable of making turnovers, but they generally don't go for it unless it's obviously on. I think we've sacrificed the possibility of going for turnovers in favour of maintaining integrity in the defensive line. Thag works brilliantly against every side up to the final. But La Rochelle have such huge men that if you constantly let them have possession and recycle at the ruck, without the risk of losing the ball, that they'll run riot.

It's something I hope Nienaber tweaks. We need a greater threat at the ruck.

Honest question, where do Leinster go from here? Not good enough in Europe or URC?

time for Leo to pack his bags. He’s had his chance

They'll probably be back in the semis next year again. Have to hope that maybe Harry Bryne pushes on, I don't think Ross has that extra 1% needed unfortunately. McCarthy should hopefully have pushed his way into the starting 15, maybe Osbourne will force his way into the 23.

How many offloads did Leinster execute today? Athletic packs can destroy a big bulky pack only if they keep moving a heavy pack around and keep the ball in play. Rucks are just an opportunity for opposition to set their defence and catch their breath.

That’s great but they are still going to be steam rolled with power, how do they combat that and play with the limiting factor that is Ross Byrne.

I’m trying not to be too despondent but 4 years in a row and no different answers it’s so hard not to be questioning things.

I would suggest that they focus on winning the URC. That's the bread and butter for the provinces. A good run in the Champions Cup is a bonus.

At least bring home a trophy. What happened last week can't be allowed happen again.

Not able to complete with cheque book teams in France.

They lost by a point, two years in a row. Both games featured opportunities for Leinster to win. Two minor changes and we're talking about how La Rochelle can't get it done in the big game.

We have no idea how much money Leinster have missed out on but not winning the various competitions. But for a professional club with their resources and overhead, not winning their "domestic " competition is not sustainable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,783 ✭✭✭A-Train

But we ain’t, that’s the long and short of it. Last year yes but this year Leinster had a near full rabid home support.

Leinster can’t get it done and have **** the bed. I’m asking where to from here as it’s extremely bleak tonight. No Johnny no fun

It's not like West or Hastoy are particularly elite in themselves. I think they'll be fine, they have the players to win. The issue is mental to me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,783 ✭✭✭A-Train

I would agree it’s mental to a degree but I th ought it last year but he hard convinced me that he had changed but he hasn’t (Ross Byrne) we are screwed without Sexton.

I can’t see them winning anything in the next 5 years.

It's a fresh start under a new coaching team next seaon. Nienaber's defence will pose real challenges for anyb team that comes up against Leinster.

The 'where do they go from here?' question would be relevant if there wasn't major change happening at a coaching level. Coaching makes a big difference. Munster this year with Rowntree, Prendergast and Leamy are chalk and cheese with Munster last year under van Graan, Rowntree and Ferreira.

Sorry to you leinster fans for the way you all feel tonight. That was a harsh pill to swallow.

But as much as the firensic cynics will be out with their knives, I think leinster don't need to change much of what they're doing.

For me, leinster fcuked up 4 exits from their own 22 in the first twenty minutes of the second half. That was the losing of the game imo.

2 from JPG, and 2 from Lowe. Pressure should have been relieved on 4 different occasions, and wasn't. Sliced kicks, balls out on the full after being brought back inside their own 22. And they were in succession.

The leinster forwards must have cringed with each of those, and it had an awful cumulative effect. Leinster pack became less and less effective in the tackle as a consequence. Exhausted and visually so.

If I was a leinster fan tonight, I'd be sore and sorry, but I definitely wouldn't be looking for any heads to roll.

Need I remind anyone that RB hit the post twice tonight when trying to convert?

    Ye lost by 1 guys.

    1.

Horrendously harsh to take, and people will counter my point by highlighting that you were 17 points up at home, and squandered it.

But ye barely lost that. A hair's breath. And to a fcuking good team.

Ye're still in a good place even if it doesn't feel like it right now.

He ain’t going to change the power deficit at the top level of things. That’s the be all and end all.

The more I think about it the more I believe that resting players was a bad move. Admittedly, I was all for it. It burned us in the end.
