Worst ads are stlll them lotto ones ..... Rathlooney ... the suit of armour/Larry .... that capsule with people sliding down into water .... and that ELO Beatlesesque song playing in the BG ... you know the ones .... awful and on constantly ....

Speaking of on constantly and the Beatles ... you have them AIB ads with someone singing a dreary version of the Beatles' This could be our year .... dreary ads on for what seems like eternity at this stage .... close 2nd to the lotto ones ....

And then there are those FBD ones in 3rd place .... Federal butterly dept ... Fire breeding dachshunds ... fierce barn damage .... flat battery doctors .... fuscia bike daddies ..... etc .... I don't know where they get them from ?? !! ...

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

    Christ I hate that ad.

Another one I despise because of the soundtrack is the Liberty Insurance one with a 60's pop sounding jingly guitar track with the lyric "if you ever leave me ....." Don't know who the artist is .... but I can't stand it.

The Lenor Unstoppable ad makes me shudder, I hate it

The segment of the ad where he's in a shoe shop and the salesman fitting the guys shoes sniffs his feet 🤮

Incidentally the only version of this ad on YouTube don't have the shoe shop sequence, but I found this Italian version of the ad

Larry and all the other kernts in the woodies ad. F him and his ladder shove it where the sun don’t shine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,286 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

My dad had a heart condition and hated that advert. He didn't want a regular reminder that his heart could fail at any minute. Which is a completely valid reason to hate an ad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,286 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Ikea is a well established brand with a fan base. They don't NEED to advertise. So, the ads are probably made by the cousin or nephew of the marketing director. Outlandish stuff for his or her portfolio.

Same as Malteasers. They dont need to advertise, people just buy them.

TV3 ad for "What's the story" with Tara Lynne O'Neill on very ad break. The joke gets even worse with each run. Up there with the Lidl one now.

Anything which contains "brought to you" or "sponsored by/supported by" or "an initiative of"

    "The government of Ireland"

It feels like half the adverts local radio puts out nowadays seem to contain these, and the other half are the same ads as Gaelainn.

No wonder there is such neutral news reporting these days! This stuff is probably what's keeping the stations on air. (Albeit as a mouthpiece for the prats on Kildare Street)

The RTE rugby ad with the RTE branded truck travelling around Ireland, then travelling by ferry to France and the final shot in Paris. It's not a bad ad, my problem is that it's been played ad nauseam. The ending caption is "However far they go, you'll be there too." I think they had to say "you'll" instead of "we'll" because it first aired in the run-up to the last 6 Nations Ireland match and only Virgin Media could show it. RTE aren't always there.

"There's a revulsion happening... it goes beyond annoying... the red mist that you see... when your patience is taking on the worst of repetition, the worst of repetition... it's elevated anger to another level... it's reaching into the very corners of your sanity that it's never grabbed before... we're now in a position where we despair to SCREAM!"

That annoying ad for we buy any car with the guy dancing. It just annoys me

YouTube keeps showing me some Colgate electric toothbrush ad. It's been doing this for years. Also the one with the m&m office workers where one is a mime artist.

Survival isn't defined by the genetics of our past, it's inspired by the vision and artistry of our cohesive future. My very soul is powered by the questions we ask the universe. What must we be???

Its a fcuking car, and most often a pug fugly one. It will not change my life, it will not make me question existence, and thankfully it won't make me look like one of the weirdos in those ads.

This was ok at the start but its been overplayed so much its just annoying now.

The Cupra car ad where yer wan speaks Spanglish. Like, is she famous in Spain or something?

    It is what it's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,211 ✭✭✭oneweb

Don't wombat it. No idea what they're advertising now.

The quality of the meerkat characters themselves have deteriorated quite noticeably too.

    It is what it's.
