I have a hidden VIN starting with LRW but that checker doesn't like it:

Oh, it seems that we don’t have what you are looking for.

Please make sure that the number is correct, it should look something like this: VIN1234567 or 182 987 2224.

WHat's the right format or what part of the hidden VIN should I use ?

If you have a 3 or Y on order none of the recent shipments have been on Hoegh ships so you won't be able to search for it. The last few ships have all been Grimaldi ships.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 277 ✭✭Jasna1982

Yeah, that just means it's not on the Hoegh Ship.

It was most likely on the Grand Champion, or is on the Grande Mirafiori.

Doesn't look like there's any movement on it today unfortunately. Fingers crossed for something tomorrow

Last response back from Tesla Dublin team this lunchtime (not online chat) still issue with Revenue. They are actively working on it. But no ETA on the fix🤯

I know it's never going to happen, but I wish Tesla would just register the cars at the higher amount and then sort it with revenue post-delivery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 teslaownercork

Is that an option? To sort post delivery?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,027 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Or our revenue officials could just open their eyes and look at what price Tesla are selling the car for.

They are after all, public servants, or servants of the public.

has anyone spotted any tesla’s being moved from Dublin port the last day or two? Two boats arrived from Zeebrugge the last few days- schelde highway and hermine. The cars due for delivery 19th may to 3rd June must either be in the country or very close, no?

Question on payment. I've gone with finance and will be due to pay difference next week (hopefully). Can it be paid with a credit card?

Can I ask how you know that your car is in Zeebrugge if no VIN is assigned?

Depends on how much. Some won’t as they get hit with CC charges I believe.

The guy working in the Tesla shop in Sandyford told me when I gave him my reservation number

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 280 ✭✭ModelWhy

Has anyone with a "May 19 - 3 June" window gotten the request to pay yet?

Seems a bit close with only a week to go or so (potentially)

Buying a Tesla? -> Please DM me for a referral if you want to get some bonuses in advance.

This is what I'm seeing now. Do you just send the funds over by bank transfer? Or wait to be specifically asked?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 962 ✭✭✭JOL1

That is them asking for you to make payment..(they provide bank settlement details on your Payments tab). I suspect that if payment has not been received within a few days of delivery someone would reach out and prompt and car will not be registered in your name until payment in full has been made, so factor this into your decision. Most people wait until a confirmed delivery date has been notified and then make final payments (if paying by online banking bear in mind that there are usually daily max limits of 10K)

Yeah i think I prefer seeing it resting in my account rather than Elon's - i paid a few quid to make sure the transfer was working, but when they confirm an actual delivery date I'll start paying the rest

Cancelled my Model 3 order this morning, same thing. I deliberately didn't mention Distance Selling Legislation first and was told it is non refundable. I asked if it fall under Distance Selling Legislation, they said OK straight away.

I guess they are trying every last bit to stop people cancelling and keep as many deposit as possible.

I don't know if they are incompetent or deliberately lying and ignoring Customers but the hassle I had returning my Model Y under the Distance Selling provision of my order agreement was unbelievable. I think the approach is to ignore and mislead and most people will give up.

I'm so glad to put this company behind me, no car is worth the stress these shower cause customers.

Can you tell more? So far I did not hear about anyone returning a car. What kind of problems did they make and did you manage to get all money less mileage charge?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 326 ✭✭E30M3

Still waiting on my refund so I'd prefer not to go into details at this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,027 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

They are neither lying nor incompetent in this case. Legally speaking they are above board

When you placed the deposit you ticked a box to accept that the €250 was considered non-refundable. The only way of changing this after the event is the distance selling laws

So the Tesla rep initially said it was non-refundable precisely because that was the initial agreement that you made with them

Also to their credit it seems they put it through for you immediately when the regulation was mentioned there are plenty of companies that would fight the case for a lot longer than Tesla

Of course this could all have been avoided if Tesla were smarter about things like filling their custom order book with cancellations before their inventory or allowed a deposit to be directly moved from one order to an other one

Your reply has nothing to do with my case, please read my post again

They are not. You most likely are speaking to people in the uk who are unaware of eu distance selling rules.

Once you state the reason, they click a tab on screen and hey presto, computer says yes.

    No big conspiracy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 962 ✭✭✭JOL1

Exactly, when you call Tesla your call is handled by staff in a call centre who are most likely based in UK where the deposits are as it says "non refundable" so they gravitate with the usual response. Ireland has legislation which affords protection to the consumer to make these deposits refundable under distance selling (online orders) which is region specific.. (personally not sure this is a good thing as it encourages behaviours where people make multiple orders on the basis that they well have their deposits refunded....but thats a separate point).. When this is highlighted to the Tesla staff they proceed with the refund. I cant see why so many people get annoyed by this and seem to conclude its a "conspiracy theory"

Does anyone know if I cancel my M3 LR order -- which I have paid for in full (stupidly) but haven't gotten -- due to the revenue issue, could I get my money back ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 410 ✭✭Kevvv

Anyone started getting delivery slots etc for the 19th May - 3rd June batch yet? Haven’t received the SEAI email yet and if I recall that’s usually a couple weeks before the delivery text.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 mcalgur

Picking up my Model 3 LR next Friday 19th - got a text to pick collection date at 1pm today; seems the revenue issue got sorted!

Imagine every time you contacted a business you dealt with, let’s say an insurer, and the response you got was that you’re not covered for this because of X. And the only way for you to get the cover you were entitled to was to quote some obscure Irish specific law which personally I’d only have known about as I’m on Boards.

The insurer then blamed this incorrect advice which was an attempt to escape paying out (and will no doubt be successful particularly on vulnerable customers) on the fact they handle all calls in a different country.

There would rightly be outrage over this. It is totally unacceptable. Consumers should not be lied to by businesses they interact with and need to demonstrate obscure legal knowledge to be treated correctly.
