Yep as I say it's not for everyone.

RWD blue with black interior, they had a few in inventory.

Picking up today but still have no number plate info and a bit worried that Allianz will just say no based on what I've heard on some of the Facebook groups.

Have you checked your documents folder on your Tesla Account for the registration details?

Hi all pick the car up yesterday and as all said what a fantastic car pick was straight forward with no issues.

now from one fire to another with customer service chill would not transfer my insurance said the underwriter does not insure Tesla.

so now I need a letter of cancellation before the new company will insure me trying to get from them is not straightforward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 962 ✭✭✭JOL1

Chill is not an Insurer it just deals with 14 different Insurers so it seems strange to say "don't insure Tesla's" . Try online with 123.ie , many have got competive quotes with immediate coverage

I'm with Chill and have a M3 on order... Oh this is going to end badly

Aviva was good for me until they werent and just flat out no. An post was the best but I needed that letter of cancellation which would not be delivered on time, so stayed with the current one and will have that problem in October. Axa seems to be quoting for the moment.

This whole process is a pain in the arse. Cars are safer across the board, cheaper to run and yet they are making it even more difficult.

can you not just do the change of vehicle online through Aviva’s website? I logged in at used a Tesla reg from Carzone (just to see if it would go through) and it was approved with only a minor increase to the insurance premium.

Yeah, checking hourly and there's nothing there other than the order doc and booking confirmation. Finding it hard to even get anyone on the phone.

I have couple of questions regarding estimate delivery times.

    1) Are they accurate? I saw mine change from May to June end

    2) Does this time include the grant approval time

I was with Chill, underwriter was Zurich though and they wanted €480 to transfer the remaining 6 months on my policy. Went to 123.ie, underwriter is RSA and got 12 months for close to the same price and a cheque back for €100 for my cancelled policy with Chill.

Have you tried live chat? Some have had success with that. Go to existing inventory on the website then look for the chat bubble in the bottom corner (left I think)

Tesla are fast! I made the final payment yesterday evening around 16:15 and its reflected on my Tesla account this morning.

"Prepare for delivery". I'm ready Tesla. Bring it on lol.

Suggest you read back on the thread..the answer is it depends on many factors.. Tesla look after SEAI grant application under a framework agreement but usually just apply a few days ahead of delivery

This is arriving tomorrow , Let's see if it brings delivery from Grand Champion:

I got onto live chat just before 10 am this morning. Chatted with a very polite guy called Matthew and asked if he could chase the registrations team to register my car.

Checked two hours later and have a "proof of registration" document in my Tesla account under documents section.

Hopefully you have similar success today.

Best of luck with the pickup!

Strange, I had no issue with Aviva switching from my previous car VW passat to the MY Rwd. No additional costs either. Just needed to call them as it could only be done over the phone.

It worked until it didn't- the bank holiday registration didn't help at all as the reg plates didn't work for Axa - told me to ring a week later 🤣

They seem to work now so hopefully will be easier to switch in October

Question. I'm waiting on my finance from aib external to tesla. Will they push a date to collect or will they be chilled until I have that side sorted?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 mcalgur

Tesla have emailed me my updated order agreement for the model 3 LR with the revised price - at least some progress!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,733 ✭✭✭pete

So what happens if you pay in full but don’t have an actual delivery date yet, and then there’s a(nother) price drop?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 601 ✭✭✭Foreign Sports

You'll always get the reduction in price and they email to let you know.

Not sure how it works in practice after you've paid in full but before collection.

Not too many would be paying that far ahead hopefully anyway.

Picked up my MY LR Black/Black today….

Tesla people at delivery Centre were great, very efficient. The car was pristine (save for a minor scratch or two and ppf bubbles), 32% charge….

    The drive home was fab…

(notes, if you’re in limbo on your online account or app just call the UK helpline and do the call back function (+44 1628 450660), they sorted out an open case on my order that was preventing matching)…then use the text support to request registration once you have delivery date and paid).

Other than that it’s well worth the wait/transport pain so best of luck and enjoy!!

One final question, anyone know if the park assist feature (Tesla vision) (ie it gives you spatial info when parking like the USS) is enabled on Irish MY cars and if so which software versions do you have to be on??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 570 ✭✭✭CptMonkey

Finance sorted thankfully. Just waiting on the cash. Now need to sort out my account. Stuck on a step about tesla vision. argh.

Edit. So the price I'm quoted is 53k as apposed to 48k. Is this just the price excluding the grant?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 962 ✭✭✭JOL1

Just download the latest software update if you dont already have it. The latest software version is 2023.12.5 Set to "Advanced" under Software download options to get latest software updates sooner

Main reason EV insurance is going up is that EV are proving harder to repair due to expertise and parts seems parts are harder to get in after market, flat out build new cars. So more than likely premium on parts.

Also the battery runs the length of the car and more potential of damage and full replacement needed the whole lot would need to be replaced.

Looks like they have done small (1600 euro) discounts on some of the ones with two hitches and induction wheels etc. that are LR models to get them under the grant value. I wonder if they'll do the same with colours etc.

Also who knows what else we see as we get closer and closer to EOQ and the inventory continues to build.
