I was with 123 for years, but since I got the Model 3 they've consistently been ~200 more than Supervalu for whatever made-up reason.

€347 renewal with Liberty. But had to get manager approval when I changed over. Don’t think their website will quote you with a Tesla. Might need to ring them.

Do most in here clean\wax their cars themselves or do you bring it to a professional cleaner\detailer?

I am not over fussy with my cars, but like to keep them looking good. I hand wash reasonably carefully, then dry. About two or three times a year I use Collinite 845 wax. I never use a machine wash. To the eye my paint looks good.

I now have the prices for replacing the M3 windscreen and it is interesting. Allglass (the insurance company’s nominated supplier) quoted me €1400 for their generic glass and €980 for Tesla glass. Earliest available appointment is approximately 3 weeks away so less than ideal. Tesla quoted €715 for the job and gave me an appointment in 48 hours. My insurance (RSA) pays €400 towards replacement by Allglass and €225 if done by a third party. Tesla is still the cheaper net option to me even with the reduced insurance contribution which is a pleasant surprise.

I'd go with Tesla especially if under warranty as less hassle if there are issues afterwards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,401 ✭✭✭Fingleberries

Wow. That's definitely a higher price for the front glass.

Looking back, the quote Tesla gave me for the rear glass was €500 (give or take), AXA said they'd pay the full amount if I went with an approved supplier (Tesla or Allglass).

In the end I went with Allglass, but they got the official part from Tesla.

When I look at my insurance renewal, it just shows the amount was settled for €250.

This is good info for us with a M3, deffo worth looking at glass replacement clauses, worth going for full cost coverage by the sounds of things

On the Model 3 there are three major panes of glass, windscreen, back screen and a middle pane at the centre on top. Tesla said that sometimes insurance can get picky about covering that third one under windscreen cover, but the other two are usually covered (as long as you have windscreen cover) without any hassle.

My next policy will be chosen with this in mind for sure. It’s the first time I’ve had this happen but now I’ll have to shell out way more than I saved going with RSA. That’s the trouble with insurance - it’s hard to take it seriously until you need it.

On a side point the quote from Tesla includes “Install O-ring on trunk power strut” priced at €0. Presumably this is being done to all cars they handle but I hadn’t heard about it before.

That's a default Tesla post for service calls so can be ignored, must be some system thing

It turns out they do replace the O ring on the trunk lid power strut whenever cars are sent to them. It wasn’t a full recall but they told me there have been cars where the O ring was omitted and this led to rain getting into the electrics of the power trunks. Mine had the O ring but they still changed it to the current version.

Got to give them credit for being particularly nice and helpful. I was a bit annoyed they hadn’t cleaned the new screen well and they jumped to work on it. They also greased the squeaky side windows and reinstalled my toll tag. Nice guys.

Toll tag stuck under the armrest lid is where it's at. It works! No lump of white plastic on the windscreen. :)

If I was to order a new tesla today I presume that I'd be under the new SEAI grant or 3,500 and not the 5,000 grant? (I presume the grant applies to whenever the vehicle arrives?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,381 ✭✭✭MightyMunster

Not necessarily, if you order one from inventory it should be one that's enroute, so will be available before July. I read yesterday someone ordered one last week and is collecting on Tuesday.

Worst case it's not here by July and you can cancel and get a refund if you want so it's worth a gamble anyway.

Don't forget to order via a referral link for some free charging etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,863 ✭✭✭joe1303l

Full €5K grant is available for 4 months from approval date. If Tesla can apply for the grant and get it approved before July 1st, you’ll get the €5K off even if the car isn’t registered until October. You could also have the benefit of a 232 plate if it makes any odds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,510 ✭✭✭...Ghost...

Late night browsing were ya? Whatever you decide, you'll either have 5k off the 131 plate, or 3.5k off the 132 plate. If you see an inventory car you like, order that. Otherwise order exactly what you want. And use a referral link for tesla credits. Nice for some free charging after collection.

    Stay Free

You could have one before end of June according to the pop up of their website if you order an existing inventory one as theirs are already on the way.

Had the following charge port error message appear when I parked up last night after a long trip.

    Alerts.jpg

A quick googly didnt reveal too much about CP_a163 error code, other than a couple of reports about a faulty charging harness being the culprit.

The message became inactive overnight, but has me concerned should it reappear as Im on the road during the week normally.

    Anyone had a similar experience?

Log a ticket on app and give them the time and date error occurred.

Did that already - keen to know if any other peeps have encountered similar issue and if it was recurring.

Last year I had an issue with DC Fast charging, although I didn't get an error on the screen.

Tesla had told me that my charge port ECU had crashed so that the car couldn't communicate with the chargers. Their advice was that if it happened again I should disable sentry mode, lock the car and walk away for several minutes to allow the car to enter deep sleep. When the car wakes up it restarts the charge port ECU. They also said it was a known issue and would be fixed in patch 2022.24. Haven't had an issue since.

Sounds like your case is different though.

Made a custom order M3 entry level on 15th of April. EDD is 13th-28th June. Test drove the other day as still on the fence, asked nice guy behind the counter if he had any further details on the order. Turns out it's in Zeebrugge and awaiting transport to Ireland so there are plenty after transiting the Suez anyway I'd guess

Really? So that means they did arrive on the Grand Champion and are not on the Grande Mirafiori

Is there any way I can charge between 2 and 5 via the Tesla App only?

The best I can come up with is to set the start time in the app and set the %age limit so as to finish around 3 hours later depending on the current SOC.

But I might be out by 30 minutes either way.

Set a scheduled charge for 2am.

In 3 hours you can take on 21kWh… (in my SR+ that’s 42%.

So if I was playing the 2-5am game, I’d set the charge level at 42% above what the car was currently sitting at as I went to bed.

you’d have to do that every night, but it’s doable.

Anyone find it invasive that their partner can track their movements through the app?

You’ve obviously giving them permission so that rules out the invasive issue.

It’s like sharing your location through the find me app on iOS. You have to give permission to the other person and you can revoke it at stage.

No more, "I'm on my way" followed by "heavy traffic here" when in reality you're still in the office hammering away at the spreadsheets.
