If he die's. then all hell will break loose in Russia. Russians will experience (albeit in a smaller fashion) what ordinary Ukrainians have been going through since Feb2922. The other alternative will be if he is deposed, and a seamless power transfer takes place. But I can't see that happening TBH.

Looks like someone agrees with me:

To destroy Russian guided aerial bombs, Ukraine needs 4+ generation aircraft, says Ukrainian Armed Forces spokesman Yuriy Ihnat

For the use of guided aerial bombs, the enemy uses Su-35. Every day, with the help of these aircraft, the enemy uses 10-12 such bombs along the entire front line. These are FAB-500 bombs weighing 500 kg, equipped with wings and GPS navigation.

Ukraine needs tools that can counter this threat. These are ground-based Patriot and SAMP/T systems, but modern aircraft, F-16s or other 4+ generation aircraft capable of withstanding Russian aviation at a long distance, are best of all, Ihnat

The main value it now has for the Russians is propaganda,,,just imagine how it will be portrayed on state TV !!! The mind not only boggles, but turns summersaults. Wait until Simonyan and Solovyov get their teeth into it.

rusisian's apparently sh*tting themselves over the coming counter-offensive, trying all the propaganda tricks and showing their belly to any country that throws them a look.

China will be looking at what resources they can carve out from an undefended bankrupt russia at bargain basement prices.

That's an interesting story,I'm sure it's not going to be the only one uncovered over the next while

If/when that happens, and Russia are crying about it, hopefully the rest of the international community can give them the diplomatic equivalent of a wink and shít-eating grin and say, "Well, lads.... might is right!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

No misinterpretation needed, if the counter offensive goals are met , which reading that suggests Kherson will be the main target,

Then they may be open to diplomatic discussion, Crimea isn't donesk or lughansk,it already held autonomy from Kiev long before any invasion the majority of Crimeans don't see themselves as Ukrainian or part of Ukraine,

While total victory should be the removal of the blacksea fleet from svastaspol and the destruction of the kirsch bridge this goal could be easier than done ,

Especially if the Russian military doesn't fold like a cheap suit in a few months as some think

That's what I'm thinking,it makes no sense trying to hold it indefinitely yes it's a meat grinder for the Russians but it's also a meat grinder for Ukrainians too ,they are suffering losses too , one of the hospitals treating Ukrainians said they were struggling with the number of casualties coming through their doors 24/7 ,

We get 10-1 losses bandied around but the fact of the matter Ukrainians are dieing in their thousands just as the Russians are

People need to chill in here, it's merely a reference to the Elton john cold war song "Nikita", come on Elton, remember your work!

Smear tactics? 😂 Some of the pro orc stuff here is absolutely shameless. It naturally gets called out very quickly and rightfully so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 780 ✭✭✭Bitcoin

The 10:1 ratio isn't a number made up on here. It was provided by the Ukrainians themselves and when we look at the evidence in front of us it's a claim that's easy to believe.

I don't remember anyone claiming that the Ukrainians aren't losing people either. If the orcs are being killed at 10:1, or 7:1 or even 5:1 then that is a trade that Ukraine is willing to make. The orcs are going to crack long, long before Ukraine does if that rate of loss continues.

Any thoughts on the leaks from the Pentagon that provided information on Ukraines counter?

    Russia licking their lips.

I wonder if a referendum was held now after having carried out a well organised promotion of same in Crimea and overseas where refugees from Crimea are - and the franchise was extended to all those that were ‘forced to leave Crimea over the last, say, 15 years, then what might be the result. ?

Putin would have ABSOLUTLY no problem in carrying out a referendum in the morning because he would be 100% certain of the result . And so would you and I - irrespective of wheather anyone turned up to vote or not

I wonder is this a combination of holding shells for the counter offensive or literally running out of shells.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,646 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

I would say it’s waiting for the counter offensive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,890 ✭✭✭✭briany

Licking their lips? Is this the same Russia who has stalled for months, even in their own offensive efforts? I think it is. What have they got to lick their lips about? Clearly they are not the apex predators they thought themselves to be.

If Russia hasn't got the resources to deal with what Ukraine might throw at them in a counteroffensive, then having advance information of it doesn't amount to a whole lot on the ground. If it's all part of misinformation tactics, which are rife in war, then it's just another day.

The fact that it's been leaked to public information channels would suggest to me that it's part of an effort to make Ukraine stall their own planned offensive.

The edits the russians made revealed more about their state than anything about the counter-offensive.

Russians built a 70km long trench system in Zaporizhzhia,

One of the longest trenches seen in the last 100 years.

Is there even any point, countless conflicts, including the First World War in 1918, show us that extensive trenches and defensive belts for vast tracts are completely obsolete.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 21,926 ✭✭✭✭Bass Reeves

Pretty pointless. The front is 10times that size. To put troops in a trench that long and defend it would take 100k troops and that would be pretty undefended at that

As well to build defensive trenches they should never be in a straight line for more than 10-12 metres as the trenches are undefendable if they are ever infiltrated from just above. Trenches need strong points, and living area every hundred meters or less.

What they have dobe is a massive waste of men and resources.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,398 ✭✭✭Sigma101

That's extremely unlikely to be a defensive trench. The only reason to dig a continuous 70km long trench is to lay a pipe. Defensive trenches aren't dug in straight lines. But typical twitter - everyone concludes that the Russians, unlike the rest of us, are too stupid to know otherwise!

The orcs have went from Kyiv in 3 days to barely clinging onto occupied territories by the skin of their teeth.

It's amazing that many here still have so much respect for them as a fighting force.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,473 ✭✭✭Jinglejangle69

    Thank you.

Someone else has noticed the orcs have compromised Gatling…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

Just shows how much they still operating in a different century militarily, Chechnya was a prime example they struggled against locals until they used their airforce to bomb civilians cities and towns back to the Stone age, which brought the population back to rule, this is what they they thought would happen in Ukraine, take out the government and the military will fold under over whelming firepower from land and air ,

Only they didn't expect a full on cage fight without their aircover they can't move large numbers of men and vehicles nor where they expecting that the international community in Europe would grow a pair of testicles and finally stand up to Putin and support ukraine with weapons and equipment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 780 ✭✭✭Bitcoin

I don't think he's compromised. I think he's just starting to fall for the orc propaganda.

He needs to start looking at this with his eyes and stop ignoring all the noise.

The orcs looked invincible at Kyiv, they looked invincible at Kharkiv, they looked invincible at Kherson. Each time the orcs collapsed against a force that didn't even have the weaponry that it has today.
