People can indeed to choose to live how they wish. This is different to feeding children wholly inappropriate content and ideologies and treating them as normal.

If you are deciding what's "wholly inappropriate" or not then no they can't live how they wish. You immediately contradicted yourself.

How is a drag show inappropriate but putting a toddler in a bikini and parading her for an adult audience is appropriate.

Considering we had half that time with Covid, 6 years is not long ago, is it? Some of the youngest kids at the school during that show are still there....so, it's pretty recent. Thanks for following up on the result. My point is that it happens and it happens frequently. I don't buy the "not vetted" BS. It was under-handed and disgusting.

Child beauty pageants should also be banned. It's often a sexualisation of children and it's also disgusting. Thankfully they are far less common over here.

Not interested in the Junior Cert Ireland where we are discussing the US system. Junior Cert is officially 16-17 years old and I don't see the problem with young adults who are at the age of lawful consent having access to any educational information they want on sexual intercourse.

Far cry from trying to convince us toddlers were being lectured to about their ABCs, 123s, and Fisting all in the same afternoon.

Must be mentioned fisting is not an explicitly "gay" activity and cis couples engage in fisting. Secondary school students in Ireland certainly to various degree know about fisting too, without publication or guidance.

As with a lot of things in the US, it needs work.

I am free to express my opinion here. Doing so does not hinder how one chooses to live their life. So, not a contradiction.

Neither are appropriate. Neither I support. Both are sick and are the subject of many images on devices seized by the authorities.

I am not going to argue with you, I am "a large d!ck" both literally and figuratively. That's beside the point though. The only reason I have answered your post is because your arguments are so weak that I feel embarrassed for you and for people who are compelled to argue with you.

The tide is changing. People are not afraid to speak out anymore. Gays and lesbians are also sick of it and are turning their backs at lgbt.

Parents should continue to push back against schools that distribute sexual contents among children and soon this stuff will be over

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,725 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Well even the GOP doesn't cross the Rubicon to take the 'both are sick' approach, and kids beauty pageants are still well loved in Republican culture.

They even have a Drag Queen as a Representative in Congress and they haven't moved to expel them. What message is that sending to kids?

Even Kid Rock who is fully swept up in the transphobia of this political moment forgot himself

its the same book, its on the recommended reading list for junior cycle, 12-15 year olds

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,725 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

That's when kids become sexually active and do weird **** (again, even without the presence of publications or guidance) so that's still not too surprising.

im not arguing with you, you asked what book it was, i pointed it out, as i said i havent read it so im as ignorant as you about it, good luck

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,213 ✭✭✭Mic 1972

    clutching on straws,

there is a lot of evidence that books like this are being made available in schools libraries, you can't be unaware of it. And no, i'm not going to provide source because this is 2023 and everyone has seen these claims at this point

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,725 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Unspecific, vague, "I'm gonna make the claim not prove it lolz" zzz

There's more evidence of NO books being made available to kids than these specific books.

I'm not a republican. I'm not an American either. I am a parent and I say that both beauty pageants which parade kids in skimpy outfits and drag shows which display sexual behaviour to kids are sick. It's not normal and is on the line of pedophilia. I question the motives of anyone behind or supporting these things.

Adults can do these things and that's fine. Exposing kids to them is a whole other kettle of fish.

Some parents should have their kids taken from them. A mother had her 11 year old kid performing in drag and stripping for punters at gay clubs. What is your view on this?

    'A picture's worth a thousand words,' but that's not a thousand.

    Where's this picture and source?

You are so full of manure. The activists are the ones who suppress discussion. They can't stand the facts and call them bigotry 🤣

Some LGBT people are abusers....so too are some straight people. Confused kids are easier targets for abusers and telling kids that gender is fluid and some women have penises and men can have babies is....well.....confusing. You may see my posts as bigoted, but you are literally flying the flag in your profile. You support teaching children about sex and transitioning, well fair play to you.

My kids are taught about these things at appropriate ages. They know about sexual preferences from pre-teen. They know in their teens that some people think they are a different gender and some pretend to be a different gender to win sports medals or get less time in jail after they rape women. If any of my children were gay, this would be fine...I would accept it no problem. If they thought they were a different gender, I would seek help and wouldn't allow them to be prescribed puberty blockers, or to have their "new gender" affirmed by some Doctor who is terrified to call it what it really is. Teenage confusion.

You're the one throwing out all the stuff about groomers and paedophiles and adding p onto lgbtqia. Its an age old trick thats well known at this stage - discussing anything lgbt related and all the homophobic and transphobic abuse about lgbt people being paedophiles, groomers, sex abusers etc etc.

Of course you are going to be called homophobic and transphobic when the basis of all your arguments is dripping with homophobic and transphobic hate

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Is this thread not supposed to be about trans women in sport?

More and more sporting bodies are banning trans women from womens sport I see.

Looks like the pendulum has swung that way. At least for elite/professional sport.

I wouldn't get my knickers in a twist over what's in a book. Lets be realistic here. Kids, as soon as they get a mobile phone, have the world of pornography at their fingertips. 54% of 9 year olds now have a phone and it rises to 95% for 12 year olds here in Ireland.

How is that some sort of gotcha moment? did he ever say that he was against all drag shows/performers? Do you not draw a distinction between adults going to drag shows and children going to drag shows and the content of those? I mean, I don't have a problem with kids and drag shows per se, if they are age appropriate. It's when those shows include suggestive jokes, inappropriate clothing, fetish gear and exotic dancing where kids are encouraged to place dollar bills on the performers body that they become problematic. All these things have happened in these "all ages" shows. Fine and a fun time for adults, but not kids. Doesn't make me against drag performers in general.

Child beauty pageants absolutely should be banned. At least they seem a bit more frowned upon these days anyway.

Nice work BlueSky to bring us back on-topic. Otherwise this thread, documenting the recent welcome outbreak of common sense, will be closed pronto.

I wonder if we can get an update from that 50-something biological male who was living out their best sporting life playing rugby on a team with 20-somethings biological females, LOL!

There seems to be a new letter added every few years. I've seen LGBTQIAP+ used often. I don't know, or care to know what the last 3 letters represent. When it went beyond "T", it sailed by the world of sanity. The "+" was enough after LGBT.

What do you think about an 11 year old kid performing in drag? The story was published in an LGBT++++ friendly publication, so there is no hate from the dreaded right and no sign of religious zealots being mentioned.

Have a look back at the number of things i never ever said and the things I was accused of, including pedophilia.

I simply pointed out to them that their praise of DeSantis and that bill is not out of any sense of principles that aligned with their own (or apparently yours) and that they have no actual sense in protecting children from sexualization across the board they only have an obsession with scoring a cultural win against drag queens, an easily marginalized group. I don't know this user from Adam.

I'm about the same so are I imagine the plurality of people. Banning all drag shows from entire States though, and banning books so broadly that even the Bible could be considered in violation, however, is not good politics.

Child beauty pageants absolutely should be banned. At least they seem a bit more frowned upon these days anyway.

I think they teach terrible values but there is no movement to ban these at the state or federal level.

Oh but they're allowed to ban trans women at beauty pageants in general..

I guess the alleged extra 30% lung capacity gives you too much edge when you're shrieking FRAANNNNCE

Here's an interview of someone in the industry and in character telling us that kids should not be exposed to drag shows. A number of examples of kids being exposed to sexualised drag shows in the clip. Yeah....that's normal and everything is OK 😏

Biological men shouldn't be competing against biological women in a beauty pageant, unless it's open to both men and women. Maybe people are afraid that the sausage meat might slip out at the bikini stage. (joke)

I am of the view that beauty pageants should be sex specific. It rules out the chance that the winner is selected "because" they are trans...not because they are attractive.....or a healthy weight for that matter.

The point of the video is over in 10 seconds.

I have yet to see any report of a Drag Performer who says they "would" cater an erotic show to children.

I am of the view that beauty pageants should be sex specific.

    It's always about sexualization?

Do you want to **** a flower, or a tree, or a car? Those things can be beautiful.

This is the problem I think most people have when they think about this as beauty being an inexorable thing from sex.

That video is from 7 years ago. Child beauty pageants have since been put out to pasture. The Child beauty pageant deflection has always been laughable and pathetic own goal because those who are against drag shows for kids were also fully against those gross beauty pageants. All you are doing is saying one form of child sexulation is ok becae its coming from the left.
