Go on. Read the whole article. Admin error my hole. People apologise for errors. Had it been an error, the children would have been taken out and away from the event after men in drag donned the stage. None of that happened, so the speculation is not credible. Don't forget drag queen story hour for the kids.

What is your opinion on primary school children going to see a drag show? Let's assume its a planned school event an the planners know what the show entails. Kids aged 8-12

Is that a transgender an or a transgender woman?

I'm losing track of the terminology.

Is it man who became a woman or a woman who became a man?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,605 ✭✭✭Quantum Erasure

There are two transgender people referenced in the OP, a trans man (biological woman) and a trans woman (biological man).

The biological woman beat the biological man in a woman's race.

I don't understand you're presenting an argument that your own source is not credible?

I don't understand the particulars of your personal interrogative. What's wrong with your hypothetical made up scenario drag show? If the content is vetted as okay then whats the harm. When a drag show for instance advertises itself as Rated R, it's hard to suggest they're plotting to groom children.

Not credible because it doesn't fit your narrative. I posted one from a network you requested, but you ignored that post conveniently.

Do you understand the question I asked you? Or would you prefer to ignore it again?

I told you I don't understand your question and explained why.

An R rated drag show 🤣

    Rated by who? Lol.

OK bud. Happy to have kids at drag shows. There is something very sick in the head of people who think it's OK to expose children to that sort of grime. It's sexualised no matter the self described rating, or whatever you claim it to be. Responsible adults don't bring children to these events. Certain people like to bring kids to these types of events. Probably serve a lot of jesus juice too. Goodnight.

It just sounds like you're irrationally upset at some preconceived and hyperbolic notion of a drag show and have never actually been to or viewed a drag show, and if you had it's been a thorough googling for the most outlandish examples of ones that are indeed not at all appropriate for kids, and were never marketed for kids.

You also set an impossibly wide goalpost for yourself trying to suggest every drag show on earth is grimy and sexualized. It's an entirely defenseless argument.

You also engage in No True Scots fallacy.

Are you saying parents/ guardians can't be groomers?

Tennessee liberal outlet owner's home victim of driveby shooting

Conservatives were apparently incensed and boiled over about the outlet's reporting on State GOP's efforts to ban drag shows and healthcare for trans persons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,605 ✭✭✭Quantum Erasure

That's a non sequitur and this is all off topic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,725 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

I think you understand my point though, parents/guardians can also been loving caring adults who act in good faith, as well as bloodthirsty cannibals or complete and utter loss for words dregs like that feller from that canceled as **** band, The Lostprophets.

It's not a very interesting question and it doesn't really advance the conversation, there's absolutely a chance any given person could be a groomer and a parent or a guardian, that accounts for a huge range of cases of domestic sexual abuse. But what's that got to do with the topic either? The UK didn't ban rock bands.

When drag shows are being foisted on pre-teens, often without the knowledge or consent of their parents, it's not irrational, nor is it hyperbolic to call it out for what it is. Sick and underhanded. It takes no time at all to find examples of this, which shows the prevalence of it. Men dressing as women and prancing around the stage, twirking and pretending to be princesses, or popstars in my view says something in their head is broken. I've seen drag events in passing. Had the occasional surprise drag-queen show up as part of an event on holiday and have listened to dozens of interviews over the years. The prevailing reason men dress in drag is because they are exploring their sexuality. So, what is not sexual about that intention?

"It can be a way to safely express oneself. Many use it to explore sexual orientation and gender identity. Others do it because they enjoy the fame and glory of winning. Drag is a powerful symbol in the LGBTQ+ community." Source: Psychiatric Times

Pretend all you like that it's harmless fun, but anything sexualised is not suitable for pre-teens. Anyone who disagrees probably should be locked up and kept far away from children, because there is something broken and possibly dangerous going on there.

Another example where a kids talent show was turned into a full on, sexualised drag event. The idea is to get kids comfortable with abnormal human behaviour and sexuality. A man pretending to be Elsa at story hour is a clear sign of that. He's getting off on being a princess and kids are excited that Elsa is there. I wouldn't be allowing my kids to be around that.

This proposed law is about teaching children about lgbt issues.

Yes, teaching kids about anal fisting, fetishes and how to give blows jobs, is just LGBT education. If that's the stance you're taking, then don't dare be surprised when terms like paedophile get thrown around.

The exact same thing is happening in Ireland now, where people like you are pretending that it's just about "teaching that gay people exist" when the substance of said books shows us that there's a lot more than that going on.

It's honestly like hatred is what you're after, because it will be the end goal, as what's being pushed at the minute is outright deviant, something that's abhorrent to most people. You've taken "tolerance" and abused it to the death, pushed it too far, and when you push too far you'll eventually get push back. Then you'll cry about how oppressed your community is, when you've created the conditions for your own supposed oppression.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Jesus Christ. The idea of some of that in the children's section of libraries or in schol libraries is sick. Tips on signing up for casual sex apps and graphic retelling of the authors sexual encounters. Wtf !??

And as expected, the post is ignored by the person tossing about labels. They either know that this is sick, and are blocking it out, or they approve of it all, yet know that society won't hence why nothing is said.

It has nothing to do with LGBT either, if this was aimed at straight kids it would be just as bad, but supposedly we're all transphobes and bigots for daring to have an issue with this stuff.

Gonna stop you there since the examples given clearly report that there is no evidence this was underhanded and not an oversight.

These are your sources? Pathetic. The people who subscribe to Twitter aren’t even claiming they are from kids libraries they ask it as a question left up to the GQP reader. #labels

Surely you’ve done more diligence than this?

You obviously didn't read the links before posting.

What more is there to read:

    $8/mo twitter account shares screenshot

    "just asking questions"

You must have missed I googled around and couldn't find any paper of record even on the right wing willing or able to corroborate this. Best I found was a reasonably old Breitbart article about something else, and in that case it was a Teacher's training pamphlet, not a book circulated to kids, something to educate teachers on terms thrown about by children in a US classroom.

You don't know me from adam and it's rich of you to wildly and baselessly insinuate I sexualize and get off on children:

So, as I suspected, you didn't read what I posted.

Because you dismissed the libs of tiktok account outright, I later posted a different article about a talent show being turned into a drag show. I have mentioned this twice, now three times, but you haven't picked up on it because you are too busy dismissing any views that don't agree with your own. Here is that link again. Channel 4 NBC news is probably not on your pre-approved source list though.

If you need a second source to corroborate every article, you can go fishing. Goal >.................>Post

    "I am not a racist, but ..."

You do sound like a somewhat transphobic man though.

    • How is teaching "about men getting pregnant and women with penises" abusive? It is not, and you have no proof for your assumption. There is proof that not teaching about gender and sex leads to abuse.
    • "your ideology is BS and dangerous" -- what does that mean? I can counter this with a witty mirror retort -- "your ideology is BS and dangerous". It is your ideology that is hateful towards groups of people, and you show it directly by trying to make feeble insults to posters here. Chill and re-read your own words: "people can chose to live as they wish"

The book in question was actually discussed on liveline on monday

this book is gay by juno dawson, its on the reading list for junior cert, although according to the times its going to be removed,

    dont know, havent read it

You're presenting a story from 6 years ago and the PTA president already accepted responsibility for not fully vetting the event.

That's not an incident that a "Dont Say Gay" bill would remedy: any school could still legally organize to bring students to a talent show and a performance such as oh - you gave the example cuties, so why not a kids beauty pageant (see "Sexualizing Children") any entrant to the talent show could present what any parent is free to interpret as erotic or sexual (see the First Amendment).

And I haven't seen any attempts to ban kids beauty pageants from DeSantis or anyone. Or to ban kids from seeing talent shows, or participating in them.

Witty mirror retort: "I'm not a D!CK, but....". We can all play that game. Does flying the Ukrainian flag make you racist against Russians? SOme would argue yes, so lets not get into that silliness and stick to the point, as I explained my situation. Believe it, or don't.

People can indeed to choose to live how they wish. This is different to feeding children wholly inappropriate content and ideologies and treating them as normal.
