Absolutely loving Finland. My favourite so far. I disliked it initially when I saw the video a few weeks ago but that live performance was so much fun.

Of the rest, I'm liking France, Czech Republic, Italy, Norway and Australia.

The two absolute stinkers are Romania and Croatia. Dreadful.

    Great song from Finland!

Not too sure about the ‘Human Centipede’ bit from the dancers though. :D

    San Marino

Pretty nondescript, hard to see a route to the final with this.

    Poland

Generic, soulless pop. Kinda like something RTÉ would send to be honest! Will probably make the final though.

Poles are saying the vote was rigged to allow that girl to win. This is what actually would have won if the vote was straight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgs4KeaEsBk&feature=youtu.be

Completely agree about Loreen, I think the song is poor enough. It just builds and builds but never really gets to where it wants to. I also can't understand a single word she's saying?!

It'll be a shame if she wins because Marcus & Martinus offer a much better overall package imo

Seems he was voted down by the juries, only finished 4th. I mean he wasn't winning Eurovision or anything, but that was certainly better than Blanka's effort. I wonder if the Polish broadcaster didn't want to send a gay artist?

I was waiting for an announcement that they accidentally reread the jury results during the televote results because they mirrored them so closely! Very strange.

Jann got a standing ovation from the studio audience. With a bit of polishing he would have been interesting to watch in Liverpool.

Blanka isn't bad bad but the song just sounds like something you've hear 100x a day on radio.

Any clue when tickets will go on sale?

I'm thinking of taking the family over for a show as it's on our doorstep this year.

Ay areas nearby Liverpool worthwhile for lodging?

More chance of having tea with the pope I'd say.

It took me a few listens but I've really grown to love Loreen's song. I think Sweden would be mad not to select that. I don't like the Marcus and Matinus song at all (which seems to be her biggest competition).

It could be a big year for the Nordic nations.

Repeating myself I know, but my primary issue with the Loreen song is her terrible diction. I literally couldn't a single word what's being sung until I looked up the lyric video today.

If they go with Loreen she'll likely win the jury vote but I doubt the televote would get behind it enough for a win. At this relatively early stage I actually think Finland are a possible televote winner (Ukraine aside).

I agree with you 100% about not being able to decipher most of the lyrics (I must check out the lyric video!). But I still love the song, the performance and the staging. I think it would be a real contender in the final.

But, so far I'm still team Finland. I just can't stop listening to it.

There seems to be more dross this year than usual. Or is it just me?

It's definitely a weak year so far, but with Finland and Norway picked so far I think it's already on course to be better than last year, which was an exceptionally weak year. In my opinion of course 🙂 I personally have a theory that a lot of countries may be holding on to decent songs for 2024 instead of this year, which will probably be a fairer televote year in terms of how the Ukrainian diaspora will inevitably vote.

The rumour mill still going mad over who the UK entry could be, Birdy apparently being the latest contender. It's primarily been Rina Sawayama discussed so far. Probably won't be long until we find out.

We're staying in Manchester as prices were so extortionate. No idea how we'll get back to Manchester but we'll worry about it nearer the time!

Finland is amazing. Can't wait to see the stadium go off when they are on.

Hadn't heard the other Swedish contender until above. It's better than Loreen imo. Its also got a very similar beat to a famous trance track but can't name it right now. Anyone know?

I obviously agree with you about Marcus and Martinus, but one thing to also remember is that they're Norwegian. Will the Swedes really vote for them over their own darling of Eurovision? Hard to see it, but who knows.

The Dutch song will be released later today also.

Tickets on sale next Tuesday at Midday, all the details here

I won't have a hope of securing anything, everything would be long gone by the time I get home from work.

    The Netherlands

    Cyprus

Neither of this excited me particularly much to be honest.

I like that the Netherlands one is a proper duet, think that will bump its score and should do ok.

Cyprus song has a bit of life to it but reminds me of a mish mash of previous EV entries.

    Germany

Without the screaming parts it's actually ok, but Finland will eat up all of the 'wacky' votes that this was probably hoping to get. Can't see this troubling the top 15.

    Don't like Germany at all.

I really like the entry from The Netherlands.

    Cyprus is not bad.

As soon as I saw the name Blanka, all I could think of was…

Fitting then that Poland’s song sounded very 90’s, very Ace Of Base!

Germany song put me in mind of Ghost/Ghost BC - no bad thing :)

The German song is very good, best they've sent in a long time, they won't get anything from the juries though.

Poland have a half naked young one complaining about her ex, reminds me of an entry from last year...

I think Loreen's song is brilliant and is probably going to be selected and win Eurovision 2023. Finland's song is very catchy and I expect it to come top 10 easily, maybe even top 5. Personally I think Sweden will win it this year (with Loreen).

Haven't actually listened to these yet, but three more entries chosen tonight:

    Moldova

    Iceland

    Serbia

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,916 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Moldova getting a bit twin peaks trippy... a dwarf?

    Iceland... strong ballad.

Serbia... that overwrought stuff does nothing for me
