It's likely the conversation went something like this ,The President of the United States is currently in Ukraine we have F22s over head and other aircraft on standby if you threaten the security of the president of the united states it will be considered an act of war ,

    Heed this warning ⚠️

Nah the fiat currency bit is of long standing RD. It plugs into the narrative spin Russia fires at the WEF/Vaxx/Big Government/Pharma/NWO/Globalist conspiracy types in the West to sucker them in. Even the now largely defunct Red Pill PUA types were in on the game. Indeed a few of their previous "gurus" went pro Russia when that jig was up. Though when they were plying the Red Pill stuff Russia and indeed Ukraine were one of their big destinations to look to pick up women/wives. The conspiracy types have been going on about fiat currency for well over a decade as part of their narratives. It's been actually quite clever for Russian propaganda to aim at these groups, along with ardent right wingers and indeed ardent left wingers. The average "Westerner" is less easily swayed, or just doesn't care. They conspiracy groups were poised for exploitation, ever ready to buy into the conspiracy. Russia just tweaked it so they'd be the Good Guys(tm). Like I said I knew and know a few of these kinda folks in Real Life, conspiracy/Right/Left and have watched them go through the usual stuff and it really ramped up during covid, so I wasn't one bit surprised to find them supporting Russia. It was very easy to join the dots.

Can you imagine the Orange Oligarch going to a war zone where the US army doesn't have full control, he'd be running so fast in the other direction he'd be tripping over his bone spurs.

    Well done Joe.

Again not a shock. Again Russia cleverly played the conspiracy nuts in the West and they do it for free with it. Russia and America have co-opted fringe groups throughout the Cold War, but Russia was generally far better at it. There was barely any "left" group in the West that wasn't geting Soviet support, sometimes directly. Even peace movements like CND and the Greenham Common Peace Camp women weren't immune.

Do you know what I found to be the single most consistent thing trotted out by Western Russian supporters including those I actually know since this war kicked off? "Just you wait and see..."

I first heard it when they claimed Russia had no intention of invading(to be fair many thought that). "Just you wait and see..."

Then they invaded and it was all over bar the shouting. "Just you wait and see..."

Then there was some quiet and I heard it again just after they had to "feint" from Kiev and the north of Ukraine, but it comes along every single time Mother Russia's quite clearly and demonstrably not doing so great. Their "tactical withdrawals" from Kharkiv and Kherson(though the latter showed good tactical sense from Russia for once). "Just you wait and see..."

The arrival of HIMARS and other weapons systems that they weren't worried about. "Just you wait and see..."

The sanctions that they never stop wittering on about because they're not having any effect. "Just you wait and see..."

The Chinese not exactly supporting them. The "world" who supports them. "Just you wait and see..."

Damned near every single day of Bahkmut. "Just you wait and see..."

Their talk of wonderwaffen, million man mobilisations and Russia not really trying so far. "Just you wait and see..."

Their talk of the fall of "US hegemony", the NWO/WEF/Elites. Now Fiat currency/gold reserves is being dragged into it. "Just you wait and see..."

Talk of biolabs and weaponised mosquitos and pigeons may come and go and be magically forgotten a week later, but "Just you wait and see..." is forever

A coping mechanism and a way to head off debate and reality to be rolled out again next week.

lol yeah sure - they would inform them last minute and include a threat.

The White House would not go into specifics, but national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that it notified Moscow of Biden’s visit to Kyiv shortly before his departure from Washington “for deconfliction purposes” in an effort to avoid any miscalculation that could bring the two nuclear-armed nations into direct conflict.

Prigozhyn is rapidly turning into the new Igor Girkin/Strelkov: Someone who was seen as a hero to the ultra-nationalists due to his brutality and therefore had to be sidelined and now seems to be increasingly left howling at the moon (but also quite accurately critiquing the Russian military).

This Biden visit appears to really be triggering the usual suspects in this thread. I've noticed that a lot of the Russian apologists are either people who have a soft spot for Donald Trump, or are the sorts of people who believe that the USA is the source of all of the world's ills. This visit seems to have hit the sweet spot uniting those two world views.

    Its not a TV show...

It is overwhelmingly unlikely the conversation went like that. There are diplomats involved in these discussions, not children.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

Why wouldn't they remind them of the consequences of any hostile action.

How do you think it works

Ah grand. Thought having 2 in situ might be because Pres Biden was in Kyiv.

Because a government that has gone out of its way and been very careful to avoid perceptions of escalation in its support for Ukraine is not going to make a quick phone call and threaten war.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

Yeah The President is arriving today along with his Security,F22s and special forces,

If the President of America is threatened or put at risk it would be considered an act of war,

It's not a diplomatic negotiation ,the Russians would have been told exactly what would happen if Binden was threatened or put at risk by Russian missles.

No tea and crumpets being offered

The not really a hypersoninc missile, can't actually be shot down.

they way it works is there has been and is a diplomatic channel between the 2 countries maintained constantly, with the main goal of avoiding any conflict or escalation between the 2 because both sides recognise how devastating that could be.

They take a very softly softly approach to things so as to not step on anyones toes, look at how long it took for the US to supply weapons, ATGMs, vehicles, then HIMARs, then GLSDBs, then Bradleys, etc etc.

DO you really believe after all that careful activity and hesitance to deteriorate relations too much that they would announce that they were suddenly in Ukraine with armed escort and that if you hurt us its an act of war (and all the implications with it)?

Delusional armchair general stuff from yourself as always. Diplomats handle these affairs and hence why they informed Russia pre-takeoff of their intentions. Had Russia refused to guarantee their safety they likely wouldnt have gone - however this is a moot point because Russia would not refuse, because they too have a strong interest in keeping good ok relations with the US.

orc offensive really seems to have run out of steam over the last week. Ukraine counter attacks have obviously hit the orcs very hard.

How do you think it works when the President of the United States flys into an active war zone ,

I think it's safe to say the fact that Joe Biden is walking freely around Kiev suggests the Russians were Warned about any Consequences they would face.

    Awfully quiet today....

Well done Joe, it's always a good day when the President flys to Ukraine and boards gets triggered

The fact that Biden was walking around Kiev (he's gone home now) suggests the Americans informed the Russians of their plans (in advance as we now know from White House staff), and presumably agreed upon security guarantees for the duration of the visit.

The idea that the US would send their president to an active warzone with no security guarantees but instead by threatening Russia is absurd. It has not been suggested anywhere else bar from yourself that this is how it happened either. The real world does not work that way
