People forget of in the case of Irelands sudden Man City following never knew that this was a yo yo club that got a lucky gift of a good stadium built by the council who are now trying to claim the biggest revenue in football.

It was so blatantly obvious they were cheating ffp.

City believe there is ex player or staff member who is a whistleblower according to a tweet I seen.

    That's Obelisk.

Asterisk wears Black and Red, which are City's away colours!

I read that article and I’m not surprised to see that the thinking is removing them of titles is pointless and confusing - but I think it’s probably the biggest deterrent for any future breaches. I would imagine they don’t want to do it because it’s relatively difficult to do, and players might kick up a fuss.

Any of the other punishments seem like a good trade.

Points deduction: would still likely qualify for Europe in the same season, easy trade for a decade of titles.

Relegation to the championship: They won’t have any funding issues so will be back in a year, easy trade for a decade of titles.

A fine would be a complete joke and would destroy any sense of integrity within the PL.

The only thing that would come close would be a lengthy transfer ban and extremely restricted spending after that. But what would probably happen then is that they would manage to delay that coming into effect long enough to spend a ridiculous amount up front, making a mockery of the whole thing.

The only real way to stop it from happening again is to take away the titles that were won by breaking the rules, otherwise these petrostates will just consider it a cost of doing business.

Pep said he’d leave if it was discovered that City were found guilty of any of the things mentioned in these charges.

This also makes what Klopp achieved in 18/19 and 21/22 even more remarkable.

Ok… i didn’t minimize anything though. I totally agree it’s absolutely nuts. I think this is just another case of miscommunication.

You’d said that it had been stated that Chelsea/Clearlake were heavily linked with Saudi and this might be the bottomless pit of money they’re operating with. That’s what I was correcting - that while the Saudis have some money invested with them that it’s less than 5% of Clearlake’s portfolio, so their decision making and funding is not dictated/affected by the Saudis. I just think it’s important that the correct info is out there instead of chasing after boogiemen. Clearlake are doing this off their own back, with ample resources to do so.

and that’s where the ‘small’ part comes into it. I’m not saying what they’re doing is small, I’m saying they don’t need this nefarious bottomless pit of money - they control 70 billion in assets, so their own investment resources are more than enough, and indeed only a small portion of them.

their plan seems transparent enough - transfer values, wages, and earnings have all been consistently rising in balance with each other for decades. If you lock in a large young talented squad now at todays rates, then when the income increases in the future there’s a positive imbalance there for you. The risk is that you’ve bought more duds than winners, requiring you to sell at a loss and re-enter the market, squandering your potential gains in the process, so we just have to see how it plays out.

Kompany is keeping the owners sweet so if it all blows up and Pep goes he'll be the replacement sur isn't he walking the championship with Burnley and City might need an experienced championship manager😉

Just the start that Leeds needed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,676 ✭✭✭doc_17

Leeds should really be 2 up here, Utd need to wake up.

Dive by Garnacho. Awful to see cheating like that. Utd playing much better this past 10 mins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,676 ✭✭✭doc_17

Garnacho goes to ground again and gets nothing, I’d say the ref was told about the previous dive and will be certain before he gives another free to him.

Sore one for Gnonto. He's a guy that goes all in. Can see him getting a good few injuries because of that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,676 ✭✭✭doc_17

Good tackle by Martinez. Probably caught him on the follow through. You’d have to be Messi to get that as a penalty though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,040 ✭✭✭irelandrover

That's a free anywhere else on the pitch. Studs up and catches him on the follow through.

Last man back, foul by Martinez. Does not touch the ball - why nothing given?

    He didn't touch the player?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,110 ✭✭✭jacool

    I'll have to look again.

Just saw him "touch" Bamford there in HT analysis. That looked like red card territory.

Leeds go 2 nil up. United will be doing well to get anything out of the game now.

That United wall crumbled for the free kick unlucky to hit the post.

No way there's not at least another goal.

Wise from Ted Hag to switch the most in form player, maybe in the world?, to where he should be playing. Although it begs the question why do didn’t start him there.

Enjoyable game. Leeds deserved to get something out of it and they did.

Pity it wasn't on 'normal' TV.

Big reality check for United, the lack of depth in the squad is showing at the worst possible time.

Leeds decided to show an interest in playing football properly at Old Trafford right after they got their manager sacked.

Just the type of small time sh1thousery United fans were so used to over the last few years from our players, if those performances are in the side where have they been prior to the manager getting the bullet?

If Leeds can keep producing that type of performance they'll be OK, something tells me it migh not be that easy although you'd fancy them to best United at Elland Road.
