OBD2 is a wise investment, for Tesla you need a conversion harness as Tesla use proprietary canbus connector. There's a different one for the Model S/X to the 3/Y....reminds me I still have my S/X cable I must sell on

123 quoted me no charge for permanent change to Model Y LR. They didn't have the RWD on the drop down. I'm paying about €350 for fully comp (old married fart with full NCB)

Just to say I test drove the SR Model Y this afternoon, I'd driven the LR a few months ago and found it fairly jarring/rough ride vs my EV6 (which I've just sold). At the time I decided against swapping the Kia for the SR but that changed when the LR dropped in price.

The comfort suspension RWD definitely felt less firm than the previous one (also on 19" wheels) so happy with that. The cameras were completely muck covered which was a bit annoying for reversing/parking in it.

All in all liked it more than original test drive and am feeling pretty happy about the upgrade/sidegrade from the Kia. Happy also to have sold EV6 for more or less what I paid for it, I suspect I got in there just in time.

Staff out in Tesla were worrying me a bit in saying I probably won't get it till Sept/grant may be reduced/gone, but as per discussion here, I think they are hopefully wrong on this.

They seemed to not know a whole lot about colour options/prices fairly basic stuff etc so I'm guessing their knowledge of the shipping/logistics side of things might be limited also.

Anyway if I get my LR before end of May I'll be happy. Planning a 4000km + drive around Europe in June so looking forward to comparing it to same experience with EV6 last summer. Supercharger network looks a lot better, only issue plotting a route through the UK is a lot of the superchargers seem to be away from garages/services etc, it has me stopping in quite a few industrial parks with nothing much around them. One good thing about the Ionity ones is they tended to be at petrol/services stations which was very handy for quick stop for charge/toilet/food. In saying that I can live with hanging around industrial parks of overall journey time is quicker and it hopefully should be.

Got a test drive tomorrow in MY (i ordered AWD but they dont have any there to test) RWD.

Living in the west - the most important parameter is suspension: it needs to be less jarring than 2022, or I'm out.

Regarding lack of USS: when do you expect an upgrade to use the cameras instead, for distance measurement?

Also noticed that 0-100km acceleration times are more (5) in Europe than US (4.8): Why so?

US do 0-60 mph, slightly slower than our 0-100 kmh (62 mph).

You can call them and they will reset it. You can then go in and select payment method. Did it myself two days ago.

You don’t go through SEAI.

you go through a RECI. Your grant Jan process through SEAI.

Apply for grant on SEAI site before doing any works

You can buy a charger from Tesla, VW, adverts, DoneDeal or let your installer supply it

You then get sparks to fit and certify.

You then lodge to SEAI to claim grant.

The charger is €500.

m then you get quotes from a RECI to fit.

get 3 quotes to get a good spread. Make sure they are giving you the 2 certs required.

It can vary wildly.

Thoughts On MY RWD after test drive

Suspension is firm but giving and softer than i expected - No USS and no warnings of Objects - Matrix HL - Wipers are OK - Its a narrow Tall car - Narrow seats that wrap around just right for smaller man - some echo and noisy cabin - doors close with a sickly plop rather than a satisfying thud - seats adjust high - great visibility out front - nice tint on windscreen - my existing home charger is good - overall build quality is ok - voice command capability is quirky and excellent - 19i wheels without covers looking cool - dont understand lure of 20/21

there are two shipments march / september - if i dont get on the march boat then i will cancel order - other manufacturer's are catching up - in meantime i will buy something like a 2017 7 Series

It certainly is not narrow, it is significantly wider than big (E-segment) cars like a BMW 5-series or a Mercedes E-class. That said, to me it feels narrow compared to my current car, but that's a Model S and it is very big.

Dunno about that. I'm hardly a smaller man at a bit under 6'2 and a bit over 100kg and the seat felt perfectly fine to me. Again that said, I'm not particularly picky when it comes to seats

Not sure how you are in the market for a up to date tech full EV and when you don't get it, you will buy an old skool diesel like that 2017 BMW? Be careful it doesn't go on fire and make sure the timing chain has been replaced every 80k km 😂
