Ah there is plenty of incidents over the past few years all dealt with fairly well by management. Its up to the guards if fellas should be charged. Personally I couldn't care less. Id rather have an aggressive bunch of players some of whom occasionally get in trouble than a bunch of low testosterone choir boys who ultimately would win you nothing . I dont condone the individual incidents . Some of them have been nasty and Gillane is too easily riled but then on the other hand I don't really care.

You see this is exactly the problem - people such as yourself exaggerating or just plain making stuff up.

The 2019 medal presentation was postponed because of ONE incident, not a “collection” of incidents.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,320 ✭✭✭giveitholly

Not making anything up,the presentation might of been cancelled over 1 incident but a lot more incidents happened around that time

List all of the incidents that warrant criminal investigations then - if you’re not making anything up or exaggerating you should have no problem listing the two recent incidents as well as the numerous incidents you have alluded to.

Or is it mostly just hear say and whispers that you’re not comfortable commenting on as you know you don’t have the full facts?

Any convictions I wonder? None, please correct me if I’m mistaken - I’ll wait.

I agree with a lot of what you say in other posts, but this post in particular screams "siege mentality" and it's something we could do without.

Shure are we not famous for the odd siege 🤘

If I go listing incidents the players were involved in the mods here would have it taken down straight away. A case involving a tipp player a few years ago took 6 years to come to court.

Btw this isn't anything against what limerick have achieved on the field. That has been phenomenal. If you want to say I am exaggerating or making stuff up then fair enough, bury your head in the sand. Who is to say you have all the factual details on the incidents as you claim you have?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,226 ✭✭✭PeggyShippen

The incidents are just that ,'incidents'. Isolated incidents. They ll always happen. An aggressive bunch of lads will step.over the line from time to time. I'm one of the minority in believing its not always good to 'walk away' . Its good to stand your ground . Some people actually need a slap. That Tipp fella that lunged at Pat Socks...he needed one.

You have certainly changed your tune. It's almost like you will just spout anything to get people going.

And last year they were a Clare fan. Very strange carry-on. Perhaps a split personality as displayed in the pic?:

I suppose jealousy is an awful thing and they started posting here to get a whiff of success.

Peggy is across a load of the county threads. Often saying inflammatory things that then gets thrown back into other posters faces by people who don't know her as "look what that crowd are saying" "their fans are arrogant" etc.

I'll never understand people like that. Going to the bother of all that just for weird kicks.

Doesn’t matter what a fan such as mystery says though, only calling things as I see them.

I don’t believe “siege mentality” is a tool the current management set up would ever seek to tap into. Annoys me when I see managers peddling that stuff. I’ll never forget Davy in 2014 - they were defending champions and he was pure toxic time and time again in post game interviews. I think it only works to a certain extent and then it wears the group of players down and it sucks the enjoyment out of it for them. Clare had a lot of ill discipline on the pitch in 2014, they got a lot of red cards that year, something was off with the group.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall in the team meetings and in any meeting involving Caroline Currid. There seems to be a laser focus in terms of “we can only control and concentrate on what we do, don’t worry about the outside noise”. They don’t pin critical articles and headlines on the dressing room walls - they have posters up outlining key metrics and targets they need to meet.

They don’t strike me as a group that plays on emotion, they were under fierce pressure at numerous stages in probably all games bar the Cork game last year and they just got themselves over the line time and time again, cool heads, no panic, stick to the process.

Caroline Currid is massive - I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that we got caught in 2019 when she had stepped away after having a baby - complacency seemed to creep in a few times when she wasn’t involved. Can’t really say that of any other year she was involved.

I’d have no concern about the likes of myself having a rant - I’d be doubtful that type of mentality will ever creep in to this particular set up!

I’ve done my research and can stand over everything I have said. No point saying who I know as my ‘sources’ can’t be verified on this particular platform but you’d be surprised what you can learn when you simply talk to people rather than just accept every rumour you see as a given.

Unlike some I am perfectly comfortable that anything I have said falls within the rules of this site and not defamatory. The mods won’t care what you post provided it falls within those parameters.

Not once have I denied that there have been a few issues. All I merely did was point out that there is a lot of incorrect and incomplete information. There are people on here basically retiring Aaron Gillane when they haven’t the first clue what they are talking about. You were spouting on about the 2019 medal presentation ceremony being cancelled because of multiple incidents when it was only due to a single incident.

Maybe pull your own head out of the sand. You’re refusing to accept that you’re exaggerating the issue.

So, you don't like when teams/mangement create a siege mentality but it's okay when you do it.

    Right

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,314 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Well no one is hiring Jay to manage the Limerick team in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 912 ✭✭✭munsterdevil

We don't know that, maybe I'd vote for him! 😁

Nope. I think it can be counter productive for management/players (the José Mourinho effect, works to a point but once it gets taken too far the whole thing comes tumbling down.)

Doesn’t really matter what supporters do. I doubt many players care what fans think.

I can’t really take that personally when I know more than anyone how much of a disaster that appointment would be! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 912 ✭✭✭munsterdevil

Not sure what you're getting at here as most take it as a given that a siege mentality is bad for any team. I was never disputing that. It's fans creating one that annoys me.

Why though? Makes no difference? And I’m just one person talking. I highly doubt the masses will follow my lead any time soon!

All about interpretation too. There’s a lot of talking about Limerick from outside the county in the last 5 years. Some off the field stuff leading to exaggeration and fabrication - what you are seeing as “siege mentality” on my part is nothing more than me setting the record straight (when people say inaccurate/defamatory things about our own) and calling out how it stems from the jealousy of our current run of success. We have the best physical conditioning and people complain that we’re over physical. People cry about red cards they feel should be given against us. People cry about JP’s money as though he only turned up 6 years ago.

It’s not “siege mentality” to point that out. Those things are being said, it’s just a fact.

If that annoys you fair enough but it’s an odd thing to get annoyed about in my opinion.

    "It's not siege mentality".

It's the very definition of siege mentality.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,314 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Just realized looking at the fixtures we have a rare double header Paddy's weekend with Kildare and Wexford both city bound.

Pity we are away to Cork next week as we just missed out on a Cork hurling/Dublin football double header next weekend.

So simple statement of fact is siege mentality? No call to arms, no rallying of troops, no attempt to stoke up the masses, just simple statement that x, y and z is happening?

Are you denying any of the outside commentary is happening?

If outside commentary is happening is there something wrong with commenting on it or are we not allowed?

Not everything is black or white lad.

In future I'll say nothing when people post exaggerations and fabrications about our players as to quote yourself you feel it is something we could do without.

Sheesh.... Go have the last word now, I'm moving on.

Hurling game the curtain raiser - hopefully there isn't an exodus before the football game. Happened before - I can't recall the exact year or even what teams were involved (roughly 6/7 years ago) but by the time the football game started the home support was actually outnumbered by the travelling football supporters.

think it was limerick v Antrim in the old division 1 B , hurlers won comfortably at full time everyone headed for town , think it was laois afterwards in the football i stayed for most of it but it was freezing that night

Gonna be a tough season for the footballers. Hard to see many points they can pick up in this league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 912 ✭✭✭munsterdevil

The outside commentary is not as bad as you think. That’s all I’ll say. Let’s both move on sure.

Judging by the way the Limerick footballers set up against Derry the weekend there wont be many hanging round to watch them. Handpassing over and back in their own half and they ten points down, go out and play something half attractive even if you still lose and they'll attract some supporters. A decent crowd went to match against Keriry in Munster final but it was awful to watch .
