hmmmmm interesting, if my fancy nap come through munster more than likely it'd be v ballyhale so. you'd have to fancy either nap or ballygunner to get through munster.

Of course I know nap have to get over kilmallock and ballygunner get over the tipp champs

I doubt NaP or Killmallock will be looking beyond Halloween. Limerick ain't one of those counties where teams win 10 in a row and can be thinking about provincials before they come.

This year it was Munster v Ulster and Connacht v Leinster, in 2020 ( nothing in 21 with Covid) it was Leinster v Ulster and Munster v Connacht, I presume it will be like 2019 when it was Ballyhale v Ballygunner and St Thomas played I think Cushendall.

Thinking along the same lines here. Both Kilmallock and NaP would probably see a County title as their goal and see where the road takes them after that. Whereas BallyG and BallyH set out with provincial and National titles in their sights. NaP have really regrouped this year though, now that both Caseys are back on board together for the first time in 3 seasons. Throw in new faces like Keith Dempsey and William Henn with the return to their best of Downes and Adrian Breen makes them a super outfit.

For Kilmallock, great to see Shane O'Brien back on board after what initially looked like a season-ending injury. The return to centre back of Gavin does however rob them of some guile and cuteness at full-forward. Robbie Hanley seems on top of his game. The final could be some humdinger, but i still predict NaP to edge it, but only just.

Rumours that the final is to be played at 4.30 on Sunday week, which would mean the second half at least would be under lights. This would be a shame if true. Lets hope the County Board see some sense.

A 4.30 start would suggest its on TG4 so thats probably the reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,669 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Football final is set for the same day so I think 4.30 is for a double header. And TV as said above.

Hurling under lights doesn't bother me anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,646 ✭✭✭washman3

Could play at at 2pm and allow TG4 a deferred showing. They do this a lot anyway. Cant see the point in playing football on the pitch before a hurling game this time of year. Maybe the new pitch will hold up well.

I'm not bothered watching hurling under lights either but some players dont like it. Much different with football.

People have been moaning about the lack of Limerick games on TG4

Now people are moaning about games on TG4.

I'm sure you could find "some players" like or dislike practically everything. They are individuals after all.

They usually show a live game around 4 or 4.30 these days with so many grounds having lights,if they show a deferred game its on at 5.30 or 6

William Henn has been playing senior for Na Piarsaigh for at least 3 years if not 4. I can understand how people with a passing interest in club hurling would see him as a 'new face'. I was hoping Na Piarsaigh would bring a few more young guys through. Its become abit stale in the senior team. I cant see the county final being a humdinger. Probably an 8 to 10 point victory for Na Piarsaigh. Iv great time for Kilmallock as a club but they haven't been in great form at all and they are quiet an aging team overall.

Ya how dare Na Piarsaigh keep picking a winning team.

I'de say I speak for all NaP fans when I say we are sick of this stale winning.

Stick to your own county Peggy. I'm sure the club hurling is a blast up there.

Good man Breezy. You never let your I.Q. level get in the way of a prompt reply to a question never asked . Iv nothing but praise for Na Piarsaigh. They are an excellent club.

Football final is on 6 November

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,669 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

That makes sense with the semis on this weekend.

But I can't find a single place online that confirms it. The only thing I found was the Munster website that said the 30th.

Another site says Premier Intermediate is before the hurling final but Limerick GAA have it down for Saturday.

Well deserved win for na piarsaigh today thought it was top class in the main in the first half the new pitch obviously a big help considering the rain we've had. Peter casey worth the admission price alone. they won't fear anyone going forward I'd say

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 858 ✭✭✭lim4ev

Well it's the match I wanted to see anyway nap v Ballygunner should be a cracker. Ballygunner obviously a fine team but so are nap, its a 50 50 game for me.

    What's the thinking?

any news on mike Casey's injury?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,226 ✭✭✭PeggyShippen

It's a quality Jersey. Better than most. Na Piarsaigh were poor after half time on Sunday. I put ut down to abit of complacency, especially after missing 2 easy chances at the start of the 2nd half.

Mike Casey is very injury prone and he's got very little luck. Any injury with him is serious. They can't scan it until the swelling is down. As an aside, I think he's been dodgy enough at fullback for Limerick and Na Piarsaigh over the whole year. Still my heart goes out to him . Youd never know it,it might not be as bad as we suspect

Casey had a great year. Constantly winning ball and moving it on with purpose over the season for NaP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,226 ✭✭✭PeggyShippen

Dan Morrissey is a much better fullback than Mike Casey. Fair play to Mike Casey for getting through last year but for me Limerick are weaker with him on. Who id get to play wing back instead of Dan Morrissey, I'm not sure.

If its the feared worse case scenario for Casey I'd have taught Hayes could end back at 7 especially when you consider Lynch and Peter Casey could be back and Cathal O'Neill will be a year older.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,646 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

Colin Coughlan should see more game time next year.

There's more options for wingback than fullback anyway. Its Dan or Mike and maybe Sean Finn at a stretch for the number 3. Wing back has more options. I dont think Coughlan will do. He's terribly slow but he is good on the ball and of course we don't know if he's going to be on the panel. I wouldnt want Kyle Hayes back there because he causes so much trouble in the Half forward line. That may be the only option though to make room for Lynch and Cathal O Neill. I see Anthony Daly is critical today of the Na Piarsaigh Fullback for Fitzgeralds goal. Awful blunder.
