Scholz and the German Socialists rolling back on the Foreign Minister's remarks about helping Ukraine with Leopards.

This will become an existential crisis eventually for the German Govt. Socialist solidarity or a free Ukraine, time for them to drop old loyalty.

In all probability there isn't much gas throughout Europe that can be fracked, any that is should be and with great urgency.

    The geology is the problem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,777 ✭✭✭timmyntc

Yes, the geology around ireland in particular makes shale extraction totally unviable. Shale gas deposits are in unstable geological formations and cannot be extracted. Advocates of fracking always seem to leave that bit out.

Poland have today (finally) officially requested permission to export Leopard 2s to Ukraine

We're getting a textbook example of how a modern fascist dictatorship would handle a 21st century war and what propaganda angles it would take.

    Yes, you are probably wrong.

Azerbaijan to double gas supplies to Europe, taking Gazprom’s share

    January 20, 2023

There appears to be plenty of gas in Europe.

The problem is of course greenies, particlarly the stupid German variety, who were funded by Gazprom and were created to do away with clean nuclear so Germany could be made dependent on Russian gas and used to manipulate the EU. Gerhard Schroder was rewarded for enabling all this with a Gazprom Directorship and a lot of money.

Gerhard Schroeder and his wife adopted Russian girl from President Putin’s hometown

    It's typical Russian meaninglessness --

After Hiroshima & Nagasaki, a first use of nuclear weapons by Russia would indeed be the 3rd wartime use -- IN HISTORY

But, if challenged on the point, they'll pretend they were only referring to 2023

This is how they behave regarding all aspects of their conduct

Coup don't hear anything about a coup or Calls for one ,the military and people are firmly behind Zelensky,a coup would completely disrupts the plans in defense,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,208 ✭✭✭jmreire

Not a coup anyway,,,there's no one in Ukraine at this point in time as powerful and popular Zelensky,,,and its this popularity which gives him the unquestionable power now to carry out these changes.

It's only a matter of time before we see Russian Zombies doing kamikaze runs at Ukrainian units with nothing more than 20kgs of explosives draped around their bodies. It's truly starting to resemble some deprived apocalypse war movie. can those Russian become any crazier?

they are all completely 100% stark raving nuts.

Germany industry will very likely struggle over the next decade, it's already happening, but the idea that they wouldn't be able to produce a few tanks because of the lack of metal is nonsense.

A tank weighs 60 ton. Sweden alone produces about 85 million tons of iron ore a year. Large buildings have tens of thousands of steel. If we are heading back into a cold war there will be plenty of steel for tanks(and other more useful weapons).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,777 ✭✭✭timmyntc

Not for lack of metal, but lack of affordable metal.

Look at the amount of all sorts of precious and common metals that russia supplied to worldwide markets - now imagine what happens to a market when one of the biggest providers is suddenly locked out? Although to date, not all russian metal products have been sanctioned, because we are so reliant on them as a worldwide supplier. US is still buying titanium by the bucket load, aluminium and certain types of steel are as of right now, unsanctioned. Will it remain that way? Who knows

If we are not to trust reliance on russian gas, then reliance on russian metals should surely be treated the same way too

There appears to be plenty of gas in Europe

There is plenty of gas and oil in Europe, but it needs to be fracked. Only thing is that decades of russian lobby and russian backed green propaganda ensured that not only fracking is banned all across EU, but also people actually fear the word itself, even people who aren't particularly environment conscious will have a reaction when they hear fracking. Same goes for nuclear btw.

Like everything else they come out with

Russia isnt exactly known for obeying international laws and treaties

    This is a problem.

Russia can just keep lobbing Mercenaries at Ukraine and luge Russian public won’t see huge numbers of Russian men dying.

And as we see it is getting results on the battlefield.

After EU and G7 countries put a price cap on russian oil at 60$ a barrel,,it seems like the Russian economy will suffer alot and more to come in February.

We will see how much impact it will have on the war in Ukraine

Might not be a long term problem. From that article it's mainly prison convicts that are being used as fodder. The assumption is that Russian society doesn't care how many of those get killed. When that supply line starts to dry up, Wagner will struggle to repeat any of its gains.

Ukraine will just fly Kamikazi drones into them.

As I posted a while back, that price cap is estimated to be costing them $65 million a day.

I hope Polands PM is suitably enraged, he might do something sensible, in the heat of the moment.

9 officials, mix of deputy ministers and heads of regional Oblasts have been fired by Ukraine cabinet of ministers today

Probably more, because there will be a second round of sanctions coming in on from February 5 th.

And since it costs Russia 40$ a barrel to extract oil and since they cant stop production because it will block the pipelines, they will have a real problem on their hands.

That source of cannon fodder seems to have worked out well. I guess they will have to go back to mobilizing heating technicians and other similar non vital workers. Might I suggest air-traffic controllers? Won't be needing those for a decade or so.

One of my sources was chortling over a town in Russia that has spent a week at -30 - 40° C with a complete lack of heating due to a breakdown, because the Orcs were anticipating Europe freezing without their gas.

    The insanity continues:

Russian authorities have again adjusted the domestic continuing airworthiness procedures to help operators cope with sanctions.

The Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) has formally given approval to aircraft cannibalization, meaning that parts from grounded airframes can be re-installed on in-service aircraft.

The legislative amendments were approved Dec. 26, 2022, although the provisions related directly to cannibalization remain classified. Citing sources from Russian airlines, Moscow-based newspaper Izvestia reported that a part taken from a grounded aircraft should be tested in order to receive airworthiness approval tags, and then tested again after being installed on a different aircraft.

Rosaviatsia is now allowing the installation of non-original spare parts on Russian-operated foreign-made commercial aircraft, without seeking approval from the type-certificate holders.

The new provisions mark another step in the reorganization of the country’s continued airworthiness standards, moving it further away from Western norms.

For decades, Western-made commercial aircraft operated in Russia have been registered in foreign jurisdictions, mostly Bermuda and Ireland. The airworthiness maintenance of the aircraft was regulated by the authorities in those countries.

The situation changed in March 2022 when Western countries banned aircraft deliveries and services to Russia after its invasion of Ukraine, which began Feb. 24. In response, the Kremlin transferred about 600 Western-made aircraft to the local registry, entrusting Rosaviatsia to take care of their continued airworthiness.

The agency automatically extended the airworthiness certificates of these aircraft until the end of 2022. It also expanded the list of Russian MRO providers which could maintain and repair Western-made jets to replace suspended EASA and Bermuda Part 145 certificates.

Russian carriers appear to have found alternative ways to obtain aircraft spare parts, while Rosaviatsia allowed the installation of parts approved by two dozen foreign authorities, including FAA and EASA, as well as Aruba, Brazil, Bermuda, Canada, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Jordan, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE, the UK and Uzbekistan.

From September to December 2022, Rosaviatsia inspected 90% of the Russian-operated aircraft that were previously registered abroad to prolong their airworthiness certificates for another term.

How long can they keep this up for? Those aircraft (that they stole from leasors!) would only be able to fly internally only. They haven`t a hope of getting parts (power generation equipment etc) as these are made repaired by western companies (I work for 1 such company). It really makes no sense and one of the most stupid moves ever made.

A "fascist dictatorship" where nearly all the military and political leadership have been members of the Communist party, whose army carry hammer and sickle flags, erected statues of Lenin in Ukraine.

Whose loudest supporters in the West are all Socialist, who have the German Socialist party blocking weaponry that could be a game changer for Ukraine.

Modern Russia is not a pure Communist State. It has the training and mindset of one though.

If it was a proper Communist one. Ukraine would be in big trouble, they worked savagery in war and peace. Especially in Ukraine, that Putin will never come close to, try as he might.

People really should read up on the scale of killing and brutality of Soviet life, from Lenin on.

The Communists beat their one time allies in WW2 because they were a much more murderous society.

In nearly all European countries bar Poland and a small part of Germany, it is geology that is stopping fracking.

If European countries elected parties whose sole aim was to frack and the ECB wrote cheques to fund it, it would still not create a fracking industry in Europe that was anything but a minnow. Geology is bigger than politics.

I have zero problems with fracking.

    India might help them out.

NEW DELHI, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Moscow has sent India a list of more than 500 products for potential delivery including parts for cars, aircraft and trains, four sources familiar with the matter said, as sanctions squeeze Russia's ability to keep vital industries running...

For aircraft and helicopters, Russia requested 41 items including landing gear components, fuel systems, communication systems and fire extinguishing systems, life jackets and aviation tyres. https://www.reuters.com/world/india/india-asked-by-sanctions-hit-russia-parts-key-sectors-sources-2022-11-29/

Isn't it to do with distribution of shale rocks ?

And the large potentially gas holding shake deposits in Europe are Poland and .. eastern Ukraine ...

Is it linked to coal deposits ? Donbass ,Poland ,parts of Germany, northern England ,

It's gotten a lot more effective and cleaner than it used to be, as the tech has become more developed ..
