Getting one of these next week. Some casinos let ya buy chips with debit card. Half thinking I could buy 1k chips and then cashout like 800 as obviously play a little. Can treat it as a ghost tax!!!

I tried to buy a Stream game with one and it didn't work. Sometimes they don't work, depending on the site.

I also tried to buy something on JD Sports, but the site was looking for an authenticator and these 'cards' don't have that feature.

For buying online you have to activate the card first on the Perx Website so that 3D Secure is active. A few years ago I couldn't buy online and then when I went to the Perx website realised that that was the reason.

I had already used the card on other sites with no problem (well, except for JD Sports, that was looking for 3rd party authentication which these cards don't have)

We got a clever card this year instead of Perx. Has two factor authentication and can be added to Google pay. Download the app as well. Seems a better upgrade.

Yeah it would be much better if these cards just had a barcode or QR code that could be scanned, and then they could be used in store as well.

I just bought a Supervalu voucher with mine, can use it in store now.

That worked for me in previous years, but not this year. What a joke.

Wouldn’t reccomend perx at all way too difficult to use let alone cash in. Lost a 100 euro voucher as no shop would take it and when I went to check the balance etc a few months later there was some error with it. Tried to contact them- waste of time.

What happened? I had issues with paying but when I turned on 3D secure it worked

After inputting the One-Time PIN code by text, it returned there was a problem with the transaction and that I should contact the card issuer.

Weird. I did it with electric Ireland, not sure if other suppliers have different systems?

Thanks for the electric Ireland tip.

Just did that now no issues.

I'll probably do the same next year too

Made a a purchase in a bricks and mortar shop with a PERX reward card last week but returned the item today.

Shop said they could just reload it like they ould with a regular Debit card return/reimbursement, just swipe in the machine and I have a receipt showing refund for the amount - only a few hours so wouldn't expect it to show up on the PERX history just yet but worried it 'aint gonna work...Anyone done this before?

Any new ways to cash these out? Does Paypal not work anymore?

Anyone having issues ordering from amazon? Trying to use perx card to pay, and I select pay in euro (amazon.co.uk) and it keeps getting declined

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,888 ✭✭✭donspeekinglesh

I used one on Amazon.co.uk last week without issue.

Make sure whatever you're ordering doesn't have a subscription attached - that can cause it to be declined. I bought a Fitbit (from Fitbit) last year, and the order kept getting declined until I removed the 6 free months of Fitbit Premium from the order.

Tried to purchase from Amazon online with my perx, declined. Tried to add funds to my revolut, declined. Bought insurance over the phone using card, accepted. Unable to use on PayPal. Another work colleague has similar issue with his perx this year also. Is this an issue for anyone else this year?

I'm having EXACT same issues, many places declining, amazon,PayPal and today tried Uber eats, declined.. shocking. Happy to hear it works with insurance, I will try insurance in a few months.

Also I have a physical card, which is meant to be easier than the virtual but I struggle to use it anywhere only place it worked so far is lidl

Depends on what you get from the company. Many are virtual cards so just a number

Tried to use one last year in Dunnes and it didn't work. Had worked previous years as my Christmas bonus from work always comes on these cards and I'd use it if I was buying random bits of clothes and homewares. Haven't tried since then.

Had that issue before Christmas and I had to add the card to my Perx account and then enable 3D security and everything worked then. I had tried it many times on multiple sites before I added the card to my account and it failed but once I added it to my account, enable 3D security, everywhere accepted it.

I've used it recently in many shops incl Dunnes without any issues. It just needs to be swiped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 776 ✭✭✭Jafin

Hmm, well that's good to hear. I did swipe it last time and she just said it didn't work. Maybe it was a one off thing and would have worked if I'd tried it a second time. Thanks anyway for the info.

Thanks, I've already done this when I got the card, it's registered, activated, and 3d secure is on. It just doesn't work for a lot of places, for me always fails with amazon, Uber eats and more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 539 ✭✭✭Cookiee

Tried to use it in an post, they only take contactless tap, or chip and pin, no swipe and of course the perx card I have is the swipe one not chip and pin. Was thinking to exchange money or something at the post office but nope, they don't take swipe cards. Yet another place if doesn't work!

Try paying it off your utility bills - Panda, Virgin Media, Flogas have all worked for me.

I use a virtual Perx card to top up my Amazon account a couple of times a year. It's never failed yet. I add the card, make it the default payment method, then top up my gift card balance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,838 ✭✭✭Doodah7

Just topped up my Amazon gift card balance using a virtual Perx card and it worked flawlessly as always. Unlike the poster above, I don't bother making it my default card and I delete the payment method immediately afterwards once I see the top-up going through successfully.

Got a Perx card today and will probably do this. Do you know if an exchange fee is charged? So if I top up 200 euro to £175~ as an example, will it actually cost me more than €200?
