    Wow.

That's a massive haircut for all of us that took delivery in 2022. I mean, it's not unexpected from tesla but I wasnt expecting it!

Technology should be deflationary, it's only the current money system baked-in inflation that has prices going up year on year.

    Luckily we have Elon...

This is fantastic news for consumers who are waiting to switch to electric. Hopefully this will make all other brands to drop their prices accordingly.

I imagine a lot of people want the SUV CUV shape, and have forgotten how to sit into a saloon car with their 105 year old spines, though I recognise that the EV6 and Ioniq are not high sitting compared to Zoe, LEAF, etc. On the other hand, that confirms that the M3 will soon be like an upmarket Ford Focus circa 2010 as it will be ubiquitous and part of the suburban furniture on every street. I wonder what effect it will have on the mid-market sales. I'll probably want to sell the LEAF e+ quick now to retain capital for a new or a decreased price refresh RWD. Mental to think that a new LR is now the price of the old RWD.

    Drive a Tesla Starting From € 44.990

At Tesla, our goal is to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy.

As production ramps up across our Gigafactories, we are able to make our vehicles more affordable. Model 3 now starts from € 44.990 and Model Y now starts from € 46.990.

My local credit union does an auto-loan for 3.95% APR, a model 3 now works out at €447p/m with no deposit over 10 years with that offer... It's still too expensive for me personally but there's plenty above me who will fall into the net now and will hopefully trickle down to the lower priced cars further reducing in price

Probably more like 5k with the grant supposedly disappearing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,209 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

VRT documentation and tyre recycling fees almost make up the 5k, it's €44,370 when all this is taken into account

This explains why the Tesla trade in valuation recently took a 10k hit. While I agree that it wouldn't have been the best time to buy a RWD late 2022, it's all about the cost of change going forward. Now would be the perfect time to upgrade to a LR before the grant drops.

This is what happens when a company with 4 car factories with spare capacity and supplies sorted out shows the market who's the boss.

Hard on any of us who have bought recently, but at least I got in sub €50K last March. But this is going to shake up the whole market, cannot see the excellent trade ins continuing.

But I am just going to continue enjoying my excellent car was too much to expect the excellent depreciation continuing.

Still in shock, Tesla have utterly destroyed the fundamentals of Irish new and used EV, other brands will lose so much

I've my car for the long haul anyway, not as an investment, so not too worried about depreciation (in the over inflated market that existed). With this price drop, however, I'm glad that it brings most of the range of M3/MY back under the grant level and can hopefully spur other manufacturers to also compete on price.

Hypothetically, if you had an order in for a M3 with delivery in Jan/Feb/Mar 2023 and saw this new price drop, what are your options? Will the price change automatically to the new lower price or do you have to edit your order (colour, alloys, interior) to see the new price reflected? Or cancel the order, forgo the €250 deposit and re-order?

I'd say going forward it will be a very difficult job to get a good valuation for Tesla from 2nd hand car dealers. Burnt once etc. etc.

The market will fix itself and as the makers of ICE vehicles will absolutely need to get their houses in order. That 95 g/CO2 emissions average is not going to happen by itself. And now as there are no multipliers in place anymore for the BEVs sold so they absolutely need to start selling electric vehicles. And to do that the volume need to go up and prices will have to come down. I think Tesla has just preempted that with these price cuts and now there must be some sleepless weekends coming for others. Which one would you choose: A Model 3/Y or an eNiro or a LEAF when the price is the same?

    I have a RWD M3 due for delivery 23 Feb - Mar 11.

Still says remaining balance is €54,549.78 on my account.

Same spec is now €47,488 !!!

Surely my only option now is to cancel and reorder?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 TSLQs

    Make that €46,198 !!!

    Sorry had wrong seats selected...

Telsa will update the price, just take a while, they honour lower of price at ordering or delivery

As long as you've ordered personally (not business), you can get your €250 deposit back under distance selling regulations.

I'm in the same boat exactly with even the same dates as you.

I just called Tesla at 015134727 and asked about my existing order.

I was told that they were just made aware this morning of the price changes, and they believe that Tesla will honour the price change for existing orders, and I don't need to cancel and reorder to avail of the reduction. She told me that if that was incorrect, she would email me.

Yeah I've emailed to ask the same question.

Tempted to add a towbar to my order now! Anybody know if they are added in the factory or could it be added to my existing order?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,106 ✭✭✭silver_sky

Just looking at what colour to order. Torn between Blue & get a white and wrap it. 😅 Any idea what you'd be looking at for a full body wrap?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭gallagheri

Thanks! I am on the same boat too and just trying to figure out what to do. I was trying to get a red one but it fell out of the SEAI grant, and now it does qualify. Might have to stuck with the white, as I can’t seem to be able to change it in the website still as old price is coming up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭gallagheri

Sorry for the dumb question - to which email address have you sent the email to? Cheers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,999 ✭✭✭Spipov

im not sure it can be retrofitted, so you better order from factory. i had spoken to someone yesterday in tesla and he said you can for Y but not yet for model 3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 TSLQs

Not even sure if it's the right one! But I replied to the guy that was emailing me about signing SEAI grant form?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,265 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

Yeah I’m in for the long haul probably too with my 2020 SR+… These price drops are incredible, and tell me that in a few years I’ll probably be able to trade up relatively easy enough, even with no grant and much heavier depreciation on the 2020 SR+ (currently 71,000km) I have now…

    Times are good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,106 ✭✭✭silver_sky

Generally I have kept cars up to around 8 years old. Never bought new yet but plan would probably be similar or possibly even longer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭gallagheri

Thanks! No problem. I guess you’re a bit more advanced than I am in the process. I see delivery date has been updated to Feb 24 - March 12, that is new to me.

Was hoping I could change colours now with the new price but, yeah, need to first figure out if I have to cancel the order to get it.
