    Hi,

I was looking at a m3 for a while and with the price drop I’m going to take the plunge. i have tried searching but can’t find it on the new site does the car come with a charging cable. Also for home charging do I need to get a Tesla home charger or will one supplied by my electrician do.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,961 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Yes it comes with 2 cables. Granny and 3 phase, 32a Type 2 and floor mats.

Any Type 2 charger will work. From a €230 QUBEV to a €2k Anderson and everything in between.

They've killed radar though - even on cars with radar hardware - which is utterly ridiculous

I'll defo come back when they grow up a bit

Yeah, doesn’t matter what car you get, if it has radar and USS they’ve been disabled by software update so essentially now are paper weights….

Then open the Tesla site on chrome, sign in and it searches the source code of the website.

Bit pissed off about losing so much value over night. I suppose I can explain a bit of it away by the higher finance rate I would be using and what I would have put into my last car to get to now.

Has anyone used those rings as a backup key instead of the phone ? I never carry a wallet a unless I'm going out for the night and am thinking it might be a good backup for a dead phone. Although I think you can logon from someone else's phone and get the car going.

Mixed review on the rings mostly positive I think but a good few saying it needs to be right on a sweet spot on the door to open. Which as a backup I suppose is not a major issue.

    Interior Cleaning Post.

For anyone looking for a handy interior cleaning package for their car, a kinda one for all set if you get me. Keep it in the car and you can use it while charging or waiting on kids etc

You can search through my posts on here guys, I have no brand or company connections, I have no fingers in any pies. My previous posts have highlight products to use from washme, OCD, Reflect etc

But I got this pack from Flawless Detailing who are local to me and I always rather buy local if possible. Padraic Gilchrist is the owner and an active member on here with his tinting and PPF offerings.

The pack fits directly in the M3 and MY centre console, so always at hand. It comes with an interior cleaner that you can use on the leather seats, plastic consoles and effectively everywhere except the main screen. It also comes with a screen cleaner and small glass cloth fkr the s teen so your even covered for that.

I used it on my white seats but my seats where clean already so there wasn’t anything in the 50/50 shot to show. But it’s an easy product to use. Spray on, agitate with the supplied pad and wipe off with the supplied MF cloth.

I’m sure Padraic can explain the pack better but he doesn’t do a lot of personal promotion on here but always answers questions when asked.

Here’s a 50/50 shot of another car seat that hasn’t seen a clean since before covid.

You can't access from someone else's phone unless you install the Tesla App and can remember your password. If you're better half has a phone with the App installed then they can start remotely but if your phone is dead........

Yeah, with a 3 year old iPhone the ABC rule (Always Be Charging) doesn’t just apply to the car anymore!!

@Gumbo - that's the same brand and kit bag, mine also came with a sealant and some revitalising cleaner. The pad works great for lifting any dirt or jean stains off. I got mine on your recommendation - works a treat.

No experience of the rings. Is it Tesla or Third party?

I leave my key card in a card holder, keep it on my house keyring. Very slim so fits easily in pocket. Likewise I don't normally carry a wallet.

I always wanted a M3, but could never justify the cost, when compared to other EV's coming on market. I was test driving an MGZS last year, as it ticked a lot of boxes, however it just felt too narrow in the driver seat for what should be a larger car.

I have yet to sit in M3, but did drive an MS and found it great. I'm a big dude, so always worried about it, but have researched M3 and seems their perfectly fine.

So M3 is back on the table with the latest price drop. Mostly aiming for used. Wondering what folks here think pricing will be like for 2-3 year old M3.

Between SR and LR. Really comes down to price between then. I'd obviously prefer LR overall.

Tesla have a few in used Inventory, when they update their prices this will give an indication, they usually overprice but the odd time there is a great price that get's snapped up

Thinking of upgrading to a M3, do people think the extra 7k is justified for the LR? Also what colours are best, I've not seen enough of them in person, torn between the blue and white with the black alloys.

    Only you can decide that.

Is a 535d worth the upgrade over a 530d, yes in my opinion.

Is the LR worth it, to me yes. To you, maybe?

    1. AWD
    2. Performance increase.
    3. Additional choice to add Acceleration Boost.
    4. Range is better. To what degree I can’t answer unfortunately.

Im from an era where I bought a car then spent many 000’s adding exhaust, intake, ECU, coding etc

RWD = charge to 100% remember and LR = don't charge to 100% and leave sitting there

LR = much faster DC charging at V3 SuC or Ionity

    LR = much better audio

    LR = much better acceleration

LR = slightly higher "mileage" limit on battery warranty

I’m a big guy in a Model 3 and there’s plenty of room in it… much more space than in my 2006 320d anyway!!! I wouldn’t fancy sitting in the back though on a long drive!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,655 ✭✭✭Thor

Haha nice one. Yeah definitely strongly looking at M3. Wondering if 35k mark will be realistic for 2-3 year. The market is certainly going to resist.

Ill never be sitting in the back haha

I've decided to upgrade to the the LR, its costing the same as what the RWD was costing prior to the price reduction.

Screw it, might as well enjoy the extra range, acceleration and audio. Ya only live once :P
