Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

From the names I can recognise there's 9 Irish over there, probably a few more. Conor henaghan our best hope I reckon. Surprised his brother hasn't entered

    Lots of interesting names there

One that stands out is Harry Ward - he won a tour card 2 yrs ago by winning one of the qualifying days, then went on and backed that up by winning a players floor event that season and lots expected of him. Only in his early 20's. Then announced that he was giving up, saying he didn't have the hunger and desire to be a pro player

Name is on the list this year. One to watch with interest, good player

Simon Whitlock's son Mason on the list too

Some fella from Switzerland averaged 42 in his match today

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

There have been three averages of 39 so far. I wonder can we go lower?

  • Registered Users Posts: 689 ✭✭✭US3

Corey Cadby beat in his second game

Not familiar with too many of the irish names, but Dylan Slevin looks to be amongst the in form players today, judging by his scoring

  • Registered Users Posts: 689 ✭✭✭US3

Ya Dylan is playing great. He narrowly lost the Irish open final to Klassen in November

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Dylan into las 16, won a close game just now v Graham Usher, both players averaging 95+

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Won that so now has guaranteed himself a place in stage 2 of Q School later in the week. Came back from 4-1 down in the last game to win 5-4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭boomdocker

    Brilliant, well done to him

I'm surprised Beau Greaves isn't competing

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Shane Mcguirk 100 average in his first match today. Rest of the irish aren't really standing out apart from Dylan yesterday

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Jesus wept. Imagine paying the 500 entry for that

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

    You'd score more throwing blindfolded.

Corey Cadby on a good run today. Sherrock out but up to 3 points and with a good leg difference, one more point should see her through.

Shane McGuirk is currently 4-1 up in his l64 match so looking good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Shane wins his L64 match and moves onto 4 points, should be enough there even before playing his L32 match

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Corey Cadbey and perennial Finnish qualifier Marko Kantele both make it through in the euro Q school

  • Registered Users Posts: 689 ✭✭✭US3

Amazing how Cadby is still playing a consistent 90+ average despite not playing competitive darts for years. I'm convinced if he was on the tour full time he would be top 5.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,304 ✭✭✭munster87

That is horrendous. My 4 year old daughter could probably beat him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,280 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    Yeah he’s a beast.

Still only 27, if he kept his head down and gave it a solid two years he would be in the top 10 with ease I reckon.

Ciaran Teehan out, never really kicked on from his couple of appearances at the worlds and decent enough showings in 2020 and 2021

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Wesley Plasier out of the euro school. I fancied him to get a card after his performances on the euro tour this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Shane McGuirk moves on to 5 points and locks up his place in the second phase. Few other Irish still in, Stephen Rosney needs a win to be certain I'd say others probably need 2+ wins more

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Rosney guaranteed a spot in the final phase. There's a few more Irish players but they'll need to make it to final round today.

Edit just noticed Liam Gallagher needs one more point to guarantee himself a spot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Billy Fogarty will get in if he wins the match hes playing now but he is 2-0 down currently

  • Registered Users Posts: 437 ✭✭TipsyMcStagge

Saw a 38 today in Euro Q school imagine paying 500 quid to embarrass yourself like that. Edit a Michael Laeng averaged 35.82 in a Euro Q school game today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Fogarty and Gallagher both lost their L64 match 5-0 and are out. Niall Culleton 3-1 up in his L64 match, his set difference is decent so a win in this might be enough, if he wins this and his L32 match he'll be in

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Shane McGuirk, Stephen Rosney, and Niall Culleton all through to stage 2. Is there any other Irish through bar Dylan Slevin who got through on Day 1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Conor Henegan and Michael Flynn auto qualified for stage 2. Thats it I think, yep Culleton through even if he loses this match 5-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Liam Gallagher 6 places off a spot in the second phase, leg difference of just 4 legs cost him a place

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Fallon seems to be throwing far better in the last few days. Probably less pressure on her since PDC are focusing on advertising that Bahrain tournament

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Guy who got the last OOM spot into the UK final phase had to rely on someone taking out a 170 checkout

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭boomdocker

There are 9 players in the Euro Q school who didn't win a leg over the three days, one in the UK

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,880 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

If you don't get a tour card does that mean 'its back to your day job' for the year ??

I'm happy to see Fallon get through as an automatic qualifier, for herself as much as anything else. She has to be under a huge amount of pressure from all the hype Sky loads onto her.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Anyone who entered Q-School are eligible to compete on the challenge tour and I think they can enter european tour qualifying events

2 German players are after withdrawing from final phase as they only wanted to enter the challenge tour

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭boomdocker

    Not easy that's for sure

I see none of the other high profile ladies e.g lisa ashton, lorraine winstanley made it through

Surprised Lisa Ashton didn't make it, good player and was close to winning a tour card last year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,880 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Well, it's kind of up to them and their personal circumstances really. It's unlikely but not impossible that challenge tour/pro-am darts is still their only full-time gig.

By the same token guys who we would consider 'full time pros' may also be running a pub or a property empire etc.

Lisa Ashton has had a big drop off in form over the last year. Unfortunately I think her best days are now behind her. Still an amazing achievement to have been the first and so far only female player to have won a tour card.

Most will have day jobs apart from the top players who hoover up the majority of the money.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Tough looking draw in the euro tournament this morning. Cadbey will potentially come across Tricole/Kist, Max Hopp and Marko Kantele.

Edit: Sedlacek, Bialeck also on that side of the draw.

Lukas Wenig, Gian Ven Veel and Maik Kuivenhooven have a better chance of making it to the final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,708 ✭✭✭roosterman71

I don't know why but I'm hoping Sherrock manages to get a tour card over the next few days. At least then she can go earn ranking money in the orders of merit and try get into competition on her skills as a player and not for what is/isn't between her legs. She'll still be able to compete in the womens events which gives an extra avenue.

I'm disappointed Beau Greaves didn't try get a card this time around too. She's more capable than a lot of the dross that turnd up over the last few das.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Conor Heneghan drawn against Shane McGuirk in the first round.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

    Rosney has Scott Mitchell

    Niall Culleton has Adam Hunt

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

All the Irish lads look to have got crap first round draws apart from Dylan Slevin

    Michael Flynn vs Aaron Monk

    Dylan Slevin vs Benjamin Johnson

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Dylan Slevin through 6-1 with a 93 average.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Slevin wins six legs on the bounce to get a 6-1 victory, continues his good form from the first phase. No points on the board yet, but helps the leg difference which could be vital
