    Mod Edit

    Warning issued.

It's as much a dive as Theo Hernandez up the other end throwing his leg out for De Paul to run into, and that was called too.

    Never a penalty. Cheats.

Has there been a single game in this tournament where Argentina haven't been on the receiving end of gifts from officials?

why didnt they review that peno on VAR? didn’t look one to me in real time or slo mo….

Messi likes that pen on the right side of goal according to that graphic- and under pressure he went the same side.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Well that was unexpected. I thought it'd be later on it was given.

Dembele's first attempt at the tackle outside the box was atrocious.

As soon as di Maria went past him just knew a clumsy challenge was coming. Idiotic by Dembele

Di Maria has been brilliant from the start. Definite penalty. Argentina very deservedly ahead.

It was never a penlty however it was always going to be given and not over ruled by VAR.

They are the better side at the mo.

    But I can't stand them

Have a team ever been awarded as many penalities in a single WC as this Argentina side?

I'm not questioning the penalty award; it was a clumsy challenge by Dembele.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,298 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

How can he give that as a free to Argentina?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,237 ✭✭✭Garzorico

    Why not?

They review all pen decisions so it will have been looked at.

there was one angle from behind that showed Dembele slightly hooking Di Maria’s foot. Soft for sure, but that’s enough for it not to be overturned.

The tournament is crooked. Players have hinted at it, decisions have leaned towards it.

The sheer volume of penalties they've had this tournament, and not all stonewall at all, is very suspect.

The officials are undoubtedly favouring Messi. It's almost completely transparent.

The most annoying thing is Argentina ARE the better side but have to cheat, but when they are allowed cheat freely I guess you can't really blame them.

Where's the yellow card for Romero, he's gone through the back of the French players twice already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,697 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    It's not a fix.

But the sheer volume of soft calls they've had in the box in this tournament is noteworthy. Officials have leaned their way, undoubtedly.

Can Argentina keep up the pressure? France haven't settled at all.

They are playing like it's a friendly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,644 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

Anyone who thinks that was a nailed on penalty would want to take their head out of Messi's hole.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,419 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

France are giving Di Maria way too much space on the left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Mbappe really isn't the kind of player to take a game by the scruff of the neck when your team needs it that's why he will never be in the running for GOAT.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,280 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

De Paul had a few hacks aswell. They are allowed hack away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,748 ✭✭✭Dave0301

    France just haven't turned up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,237 ✭✭✭Garzorico

Agreed but I think that ankle clip was when Di Maria was well on his way down already as in nearly on the ground.

Not a pen from what I saw. And if it ain’t a peno then you’d have to get the oul tin foil hats out. No excuse not to be sure with VAR around.

The World's second richest man thinks it was a great goal.

I guess being rich doesn't mean you understand the game.
