So in 1980 in Ireland, Joe Duffy and his friends felt that occupying TCD was the most pertinent issue on the island of the day?

What was that Beckett said of them, "Ireland's cream, rich and thick"

No doubt Joe stopped his criminal ways when he turned 30

Oddly enough given the times that were in it, one of Duffy and his crews demands was to do with the quality of food, he was also as ever worried about value for money for the taxpayer

    Tues March 11 1980

"when asked by the judge was he right in thinking that their demands had something to do with the quality of food, or the price Mr Duffy replied that their demands were for an end to the subsidy of the traditional commons meal and a demand for an end to the subsidy for certain upper staff rooms which were a waste of taxpayers money"

"they were seeking a short term price freeze including reductions in some prices.... they also want changes to the Quantity, Quality and Range of food available"

Price shouldn’t come into it as long as we get it for free. Yeah right.

    This is appalling

Is the efficacy of these drugs for these kids verified?

It's heartbreaking listening to distraught parents

This bawling mess shouldn't be on the radio, as all he's doing is being used by that other bawling mess.

As someone who has called on the HSE twice this year (for non critical family matters-thankfully) the first word in their vocabulary is "no".

Far too many running around with clipboards doing meaningless work.

The wife's cousin (now sadly deceased) was a hospital porter, a position he gravitated to from doing security in the car park.

A decade ago, he was banking over 100k a year with OT.

would not be surprised if they are involved in all this. Organize them all to ring in, like the last day. Difference this time is instant tears. They noted not enough tears last time

The only thing that would make him happier would have been to break the bad news to all the parents live on air.

"Working day" sounds odd coming from Joe.

They will backtrack on this-wait and see. It's a pity people have to go to these extremes, I agree with Duffoon on this.

Joe talking about negotiating a price. I’d say he’s a pushover when his contract comes up for renewal in fairness.

The state is being responsible - they are assessing whether it suits each case. This is a co-ordinated manipulative campaign to get the state/ taxpayer to cough up huge sums of money for one treatment after another after another. If there was one that actually worked for all, there'd be sense in it. But the attitude is just to throw money to drug companies and lets see if this one works or that one works.

The amount of money spent on CF might be far better spent on say childrens dental health and would benefit vastly more children.

everyone would the very best treatment for their loved ones. but has to be a limit to the money spent. if they cave in to this , there will be another group on whining next week. Friend was in a car crash few weeks ago, and seeing the cut of the hospitals and people waiting on trolleys, they have money to spend in other areas firstly
