Coming up on 2 years since launch. Anyone else thinking about replaying astrobot with full haptics on? Thinking Id like to be reminded of that next gen feeling again. Maybe its just me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,157 ✭✭✭Markitron

No but is is high time for another round of Demon's Souls. There is something about that game that makes me love it more than Dark Souls and Elden Ring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,364 ✭✭✭jj880

Put about 30 hours into Nioh but never went back to it. Haven't played Demon's Souls but it looks like a more polished game for sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,659 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

Yup. Think the fun, colourful super polished and playable video games and few and far between.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,157 ✭✭✭Markitron

It is the first game in that sub-genre, so well worth playing for anyone with even a passing interest. The fact that it looks incredible and is on PS Plus doesn't hurt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,344 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Gave Demons Souls a go. Got maybe 4-5 hours before I stopped. Just wasn't feeling it. It's the "easiest" of the Souls series I've played, simply because I didn't die within the first half an hour. Actually didn't die that much, just didn't have a want to go on really. Have to give it kudos for how it looks and feels, they did really well with that side of it.

I was only thinking of firing up Astro again myself, but I'm glued to Hardspace Shipbreaker at the moment. On GP, but if it ever comes to PS+ I'll be happy to play through it all again, hopefully with good haptic support. But Astro will get a whirl again soon. And I can't wait to see Rescue Mission 2 on PSVR2. I've a feeling it will be crazy good. Just a feeling, nothing else, there's no word of it, but Astro seems to be the launch mascot for Sony hardware recently!

I have OQ2 so I feel most games will be on both VR platforms for now. When Astrobot RM 2 is released it will be the exclusive that will have me buying PSVR2. Astrobot RM is still my best VR experience. Nothing else has come close although I haven't played Half Life Alyx yet. Anyway think I will def get another run through Astros Playroom soon. 1 of my controllers is still under 12 month warranty from Currys - must be sure to use that one 😂.

    Hi Folks,

I've a PS5 arriving tomorrow. Any advice on what the first things I should do are? I haven't been following things at all as I hadn't planned on getting one so soon. So would appreciate any tips or advice.

Is there any way to tell which games I have in my catalogue/on disk might be a cheap upgrade to the PS5 version?

The first game you should play is Astrobot, you will be asked to download it when your console is setting up. After that sign up for the PS Plus trial if you don't already have a sub and grab Demon's Souls, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Returnal and Miles Morales.

That should keep you going for a long while.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,121 ✭✭✭The Raging Bile Duct

Demon's Souls, Returnal and Miles Morales are all on PS Plus Extra so there's no need to buy them if you subscribe to that tier. I've a feeling Rift Apart will be on it at some point.

I know there's a bargain thread but this is more of a general mention for anyone who doesn't usually check out Amazon, I saw Alan Wake Remastered is €15 for PS4 or PS5, most of my games seem to be from Amazon in the last year or so. Argos have been terrible for getting any games since I've had a PS5 and Smyth's seem to be missing some newer games too.

Ghostwire Tokyo is €35 on Amazon, €60 in Argos, nothing in Smyth's. Metro Exodus is €17, nothing in Argos or Smyth's.

Be sure to check out the used prices too, often they're just Amazon returns likely from someone who beat the game and sent it back. If the game isn't on sale there will likely be a good price on the return stuff.

Buying games in Smyth's when half price and selling to GameStop when finished with them for credit to use for PSVR2 has been my go to this gen. They seem to reduce games quickly for limited time.

First gen I've sold games. Makes more sense with PS Plus..games more likely to be on the service at some point.

I've sold Riders Republic, Ghostwire, Deathloop, GotG, True Colors and a few others for more than I paid for them.

Smyth's have Gotham Knights 60e down from 70e. First time I've ever seen reduction before a release.

    80e in GameStop.

Cannot wait for Rescue Mission 2 and Alyx on PSVR2.

Playstation Stars is not available here, you can sign up via the mobile app

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,420 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Just got the mail now and was able to sign up quickly in the app. Not that I expect to get many points.

Signed up for Stars as well. Just interested in the wallet funds, ye can keep the nft bollox. Interesting to see what kind of events and campaigns they have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,529 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

How many points do you get per euro spent?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

I can absolutely see people buy full price games they may not even want in order to level up their Stars :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,301 ✭✭✭✭gerrybbadd

It's 5000 points for €20 - An example of games for points - Hades is 6250 points, so a little over 20 quid.

So if I launch Days Gone, does that mean I get a collectible digital turd?

Its a weird one. I think its terrible but people that like it are die hard fans. Wont hear a bad word about it. Not much middle ground.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,658 ✭✭✭JimBurnley

Days Gone is amazing, honestly my favourite game of PS4 era

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,157 ✭✭✭Markitron

It is skewed a fair bit by the absolute state of the game at release. Playing that game for the first time on PS4 in May 2019 Vs playing it for the first time on PS5 in Nov 2020 is a completely different experience.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,325 ✭✭✭DaveyDave

I played Days Gone after it was updated so didn't have the issues people at launch did that turned them off but I found I had to force myself to finish it as it just dragged on way too long.

Days gone is great with a great setting but it's too long. I enjoyed it though

I've been placed on a waiting list for PlayStation Stars. It says it may take up to 2 months before I can use it!

  • Registered Users Posts: 216 ✭✭a2deden

It was about ten hours longer than needed to be. I feel when they went over the mountain its when it should have finished

That price would be fine, if they replaced the touch pad with an OLED screen and turned it into a console.

    ”For the Players” they say.

“Forget the players” is much more apt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,674 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

More than half the price of the digital version of the console. That's insane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,493 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

€90 more expensive than Microsoft Elite controller.

The greed on show from Sony is staggering.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,364 ✭✭✭jj880

Locking customisable dead zones behind this price when standard dual sense are plagued with stick drift issues. Deary me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,477 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Yeah that's pretty much my take on it, except I couldn't even force myself to finish it. There wasn't enough variation in the gameplay or missions to warrant how long the game went on for. It got to the point where the game was genuinely just making me angry.

The core gameplay and the world they built was great, and I'm sure the hordes would be fun (only did one small one at a trainyard which was easy enough), but the balance shifted to where everything annoyed me, and getting hit by a sniper while riding to a mission just pushed me over the edge and I deleted it, even though I knew another 5 or so hours would beat the game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,157 ✭✭✭Markitron

They have lost their **** marbles. I wanted one of these but I am not touching it at that crazy price.

PSVR2 is gonna be €750, calling it now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,477 ✭✭✭✭Penn

I was annoyed I bought a new controller a week before they announced the Dualsense Edge, but now I'm delighted. For €150 I'd have gone for it. For €200 I'd have struggled to justify it. €240 though? Nonsense.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,325 ✭✭✭DaveyDave

There's a market for it, of course they're going to cash in on it. The problem is people will still buy them at that price.

Closer to €50-€60 if you get the version with the full kit(currently €150 in GameStop) and a whopping €110 more than the Core version without the accessories. And the Xbox pad has a wireless charger in the accessories.

Absolute rip off, the base model Scuf is currently €40 cheaper than it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭recyclops

Sony are insane with their pricing, I am looking to offload the ps5 once I blitz Ragnarok but the 75 quid asking price for that is even pissing me off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,364 ✭✭✭jj880

Theyve lost the plot a bit olrite. Theres a thread on HotUKDeals where you can pre-order Ragnarok from PSN Turkey for under 40 euro. I'm gona give it a proper look later on this evening.

Edit: ps5 edition is 799 turkish lire. So 44 euro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭recyclops

Yeah I would normally be all over digital releases and exploiting these loopholes but because I want to shift the console I have to go physical :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,553 ✭✭✭murphyebass

Does anyone know if GameStop are doing a waiting list for a PS5 or is it just pot luck when they come in.

Think I’ll trade my PS4 pro in if I can just join a queue. Couldn’t be arsed with looking at Twitter for stock refills etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,151 ✭✭✭ronano

I've setup the turkey method, works well, without it id never touch day 1 release

Can't believe the price of the Edge.

Thought it would be 160e max.

Fear VR2 might be 500e+ now instead of the expected 400e but will see.

Dying Light 2 is 30e in Smyth's for anyone on the lookout.

GameStop offering 30e(possibly a bit more if you put it on the GS card instead of cash) on trade in.

Demo of RE Village third person out today:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,382 ✭✭✭petes

Played a bit of it there but not really sure what the point is 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,364 ✭✭✭jj880

Have you played the previous games? Gameplay is the same here. Just as much about figuring out the clues and where to go as its about killing/getting away from enemies. I think its a pretty good demo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,382 ✭✭✭petes

Played them all including Village, just don't see the point in re releasing it with this option, maybe it might appeal to a new player but I don't think it adds anything to the game. I really enjoyed it as is.
