Do you support the Crown as head of state in a United Ireland?

Following the success of the Queen’s funeral and the support expressed on Boards for her would you support the Crown as head of state in a United Ireland. A Dual Monarchy if you will. External Association via the Crown if you will.

If you don’t like the terms of the question, don’t vote!

By far the most efficient solution would be to nationalise all the monarchy assets and let the Brits borrow our President instead (no need for them to vote either, save some cash). Net gain of a few billion

The OP said 'united Ireland', not Republic. So I presume they mean uniting Ireland as part of the UK and then we'd have their monarch as our head of state.

We can all express condolences and even support for a foreign nations sovereign, that doesn't mean anything more than that.

This is quite obviously a s**t stiffing post but anyway I'll bite :-)

I would consider myself a liberal person and open to must ideas and discussions but this one is clearly daft, there is no way I would accept or vote for a foreign sovereign no more than I would expect any other nation too

I'm happy to make many concessions on a United Ireland; new flag, new national anthem, etc... but any notion of monarchy or rejoining the commonwealth is a line in the sand I'm unwilling to cross.

Is it a windup? I'm sure plenty in NI love the royals and wouldn't want to give them up in the event of a UI.

Would we accept a new flag, or a modification to the tricolour, or a new national anthem as part of unification? These are real possibilities.

Wasn't this along with and /or rejoining the British commonwealth being suggested as a sweetener to unionists, as a way to steer them towards thinking that they would be less isolated in a united Ireland.

Try to understand the context. The queens popularity (and pubic turn out for a funeral) doesn't automatically transfer to the next in line, or the monarchy in general. Not least for the purpose of reinstating a monarchy in "Ireland". What ever "Ireland" means.

I don’t see how floating a poll on an idea that might have some merit in a United Ireland as a way of engaging unionism would stir s*. There is a lot of admiration for the late Queen, King Charles was a visitor as Prince here long before Lizzie. How foreign is the Crown in a United Ireland? A lot of British settled here, 1 million unionists, southern unionism stirring again.
