Off the top of my head:

(1) Dawood Ibrahim (Indian mafia gangster, drug kingpin and wanted terrorist)

(2) Semion Mogilevich (allegedly world's largest money launderer and prominent Russian gangster)

(3) Marc Dutroux (Belgian serial child murderer, according to some theories linked to higher level people - in prison so no longer a danger to kids, but still alive so has to be mentioned)

(4) Vladimir Putin (obvious candidate, granted)

(5) Sidney Cooke (British serial child rapist and child murderer, still alive and refuses to co-operate with police regarding unsolved child disappearances)

I reckon the above five put even the worst of our lot (Kinahans etc) in the half-penny place.

I read about Mogilevich over a decade ago and been following news on him sporadically ever since.

money laundering, tax evasion …estimated at billions

weapons trafficking, contract murders, extortion, drug trafficking, and prostitution domestically and internationally …. The boss of bosses. Makes the US mafia look like the Boy Scouts.

I don't know OP, but whoever, if ever, anyone solves the problem of how evil people (whether through their brain or through social forces) come to exist, they will deserve many Nobel prizes.

I had never heard of this Sidney monster, but holy fook!

(Released after just 9 years in jail...)

Sidney Cooke, now 94, was jailed for life with a minimum five-year term in 1999 for the abuse of two brothers.

He had previously been jailed in 1989 for the manslaughter of Jason Swift, 14, who was killed by a paedophile gang, but he was released early.

His 19-year sentence was reduced to 16 years on appeal, and he was released after nine years amid public outcry.

It wasn't just him, he was probably the ringleader but there was a gang involved, most since deceased. Martin Allen still missing, presumed dead (possibly a victim of Cooke and his gang). Also the case of Vishal Mehrotra, his remains were found but no-one ever charged.

Bar the usual suspects (Putin et al) I really wish hell existed for human traffickers.

Whether they be in the streets of Libya(1), the mines of the Congo(2), or the sunny shores of Northern Europe(3), human slavery is still rampant under our very own noses, and it pains me to say this but we are all a little bit complicit in it.

You might be thinking “well not me” but consider the last time you bought a tin of chopped tomatoes from Italy, it could very well have been picked by a slave.(4)(5)

It breaks my heart when I think about all those lost souls, ripped away from their families, shuddering themselves to sleep every night in makeshift cots in often terrible conditions. Caged like beasts by animals.

I would say the British, well mostly English to be precise and a tiny minority of them, ruling classes have pretty much always been utter pricks ever since the Normans took over the place. With near zero regard for "their people" keeping them under the boot with their well hones class system that had most of the people tugging forelocks and often still do. That the French Revolution never spread to England has long surprised me.

Even with all of that in mind the fall in the average English person’s educational standard has plummeted since the end of the Second World War, when war-monger and “Greatest Briton Ever” Winston Churchill was rejected by the electorate, to today is absolutely astounding.

There are so many factors to blame for it as well, that it would probably take generations to repair. From Thatcher’s “there is no society” dismantling of the welfare state, to the tabloids’ dumbing down and manipulation of the electorate with sloganeering, to the Labour party’s absolute refusal to move past the Blair-era neoliberal status quo. There is so much to fix. I wouldn’t even know where to start.

That doesn’t even take into account issues like the post-Brexit malaise and the tendency for parties such as the BNP to blame Johnny Foreigner for all of their ills. I tell you what, if I was English the first thing I would do today is start making plans to get the hell out of there with my family. Hopefully they won’t come to Ireland though.
