Yea the departures heading south on the pesit, olono etc departures off 28R begin the turn left turn around the ratoath/Dunshaughlin areas.

Is there a way of overlaying the newer waypoints to Google maps easily? Opennav hasn't updated in a while

He said unstablised approach, landed on 10L second time around. Originally on approach he said he couldn't do RNP approach for 10L as his computers didn't have it and requested landing on 10R, but after a while he said he could do 10L.

About 45 minutes previous an EI had to abort approach to 10L as the plane didn't descend as expected, he requested a visual but was denied and had to loop around to restart for a successful second RNP approach. Techically not a go around as he never got to the runway.

Another interesting one around 11am was the BA blocking up S7 departures on 10R for about 15 minutes waiting on company information with everyone else having to go around him on S6. I wonder how much fuel BA waste with that carry on across the fleet?

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

I cycled out to the airport yesterday morning, for a look. I have to say it was great to see planes landing on the new runway, one after the other and in the distance seeing them take off on the other runway.

The BA didn't impede any departures, as anyone coming behind them was able to take S6. I was watching from the road. Pre-parallel runway operations, they would probably have solved that issue before reaching the holding point but now the lack of a significant queue will make it more important to be fully ready earlier.

10L closed for the day now and aircraft are in holding patterns again. Shows how beneficial the new runway is and I'm sure efficiency will improve over the coming weeks.

Ye, they didn't cause any ques, luckily no heavy needed the full length runway for takeoff at the time.

Had it been necessary, BA could have been taxied down the runway and exited to rejoin the line when ready. With no landers to contend with, ATC have more options available, I imagine.

Ye, it's a good example of the improved leeway the 2nd runway gives everybody alright.

Popped my new runway cherry today, landed on it on EI443 from Milan around 1pm, as we taxied off I could see a plane take off on the old runway :-)

What is the story here- are all flights taking off from one runway and landing on the other ie parallel runway set up?

Doesn’t look that way on Flightradar24 yet.

What time is new runway operational because I want to go Friday to get some shots

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,579 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

These questions are well discussed earlier in the thread if you take a look. In summary, currently 0900-1300 local for parallel ops, with one runway for landings and the other for departures. Otherwise it is as before.

Good to see 10L in operation now for arrivals. It must be helping the morning wave of dep/arrivals

This should really free things taxing and waiting. Last few times it felt like an age waiting and planes never seemed to leave on time

Annyone know when they will move to 7am-6pm usage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,327 ✭✭✭Dazler97

Has that been confirmed? That's great news to hear

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 982 ✭✭✭LiamaDelta

It was in their press release that it would be phased usage, eventually moving from 9-1 to 7-1 then 7-6. They're on 7-1 now.

That's great news i must look that up thanks :)

Am I correct in thinking that only 10L has been used for landings since opening, 28R hasn't been used for landing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 440 ✭✭moonshy2022

Not necessarily correct. On a couple of occasions 28L has been used for landings and R for departures.

However, as has been discussed many many times over the course of the last 200 pages, 28R will NOT be used for landings unless the southern runway is closed. Equally for the next 1.5-2 years 10L will not be used for departures unless the southern runway is closed.

Not confirmed dates as of yet, I believe it may not be until the end of this year or start of next year before we see another extension of ops.

1.5 years? Mixed mode is planned from March 2023.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 440 ✭✭moonshy2022

    Nope.

Too much apron work to be done before parallel departures (which isn’t mixed mode, it’s semi mixed mode) is introduced. It’s not likely to happen till early 2024 now.

As with everything in aviation things change regularly.

Parallel departures for the first wave. But that capacity isn’t yet required. Parallel taxiways from link 6 to E1 and around T2 are a higher priority right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 994 ✭✭✭HTCOne

Hard to disagree in fairness. The T2 bottleneck is a killer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 440 ✭✭moonshy2022

A lot of major projects kicking off over the next 2-3 years. Hopefully, hopefully some of the last ones they can do on the east side of the airport before having to get real about going west. I suspect if they hit 40m that’ll be the trigger to go west.
