It would make most sense for McCartney I think. Only really big act that hasnt done it and probably due a trip to Ireland. He has new stuff he did during lockdown and beatles docs etc coming out so would make sense.

Nonsense, Pearl Jam are due to tour (rescheduled) European dates with no Saturday free.

Why can't they play on Saturday the 30th of July ? 4 days after their last gig in Amsterdam.

(For the record I don't think they will play anywhere in Ireland, but I wouldn't call it nonsense if someone suggested them to play slane)

Sorry, its 5 days after Amsterdam. Can't edit the post above

You are taking me up wrong Pearl Jam are on tour and are on tour and logistically unlikely to the point I suggested you can rule them out even. It is certainly nonsense however that Eddie will play a solo gig with Glen Hansard at Slane with all that in mind.

I'm pretty sure someone said Springsteen is pretty much confirmed for the rds next year.

Id love pearl jam to play but the fact they have skipped over Ireland for nearly 12 years I don't see that changing

Aphex Twin would sell about twenty thousand tickets to us locals but the remaining seventy thousand would be bought up easily, flights in and accommodation sorted. Although a deviation from the guitar roots I'm sure most would get it.

It would possibly be the best concert of concerts and what a backdrop.

I would've thought there'd be a bit of noise around a Slane gig at this point.... considering there were a few articles knockin around 8 or 9 months ago saying there would be 2 Slane gigs in 2022.

Considering the current restrictions, I'd say they're unlikely to announce anything officially until they relax somewhat.

I'd love to see U2 in Slane again, but unless they do a one-off concert before their next big tour, it's unlikely. They will be doing a series of nights in Dublin for the next big tour (Achtung Baby revisit?) so that wouldn't suit Slane which is usually a one-off.

More realistically, I'd love to see Gerry Cinnamon in Slane. All the scrotes could mosh up the front ;-) with plenty of room for the rest of us to savour the gig behind them. Not sure if he could headline just yet but he's sold out 2 nights in the 50k capacity Hamden Park Glasgow. Home crowd, in fairness but I reckon he'd pull a huge crowd to Slane. Can't get tickets for his upcoming Irish gigs for love nor money.
