Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yea, extra has paid for itself already for me. I played a few games on my wish list and thankfully I didn’t buy them (WRC10 and Race4). I have been playing Returnal and The Division (both great games) for the last few days plus a few indie games out of curiosity. Pleasantly surprised at the value so far despite the extra €40 on top of lowest tier.

A leak going round that Ghost Recon Wildlands will be one of the mid August games for the upper tiers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,102 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

    No leak for once

    PS Plus Extra:

    • Metro Exodus
    • Yakuza 0
    • Yakuza Kiwami
    • Yakuza Kiwami 2
    • Dead by Daylight
    • Ghost Recon: Wildlands
    • Trials of Mana
    • Everspace
    • UNO
    • Monopoly Madness
    • Monopoly Plus
    • Bugsnax

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,062 ✭✭✭OhHiMark

Brilliant. I've been agonising for months about whether to get Monopoly Madness or Monopoly Plus. Best month ever.

Is Wildlands A: any good, and B: playable solo? Haven't played a Tom Clancy game since the early PS2 ones.

I upgraded to Premium so I could play Red Dead Redemption. The streaming was mostly fine, but the game did slow down and freeze sometimes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,506 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

Plug your Playstation directly into the modem where possible with an ethernet cable.

I never really have issues with streaming, long as that's the case. If I'm in work and I try to stream on Wi-Fi with the phone or something, it usually sucks!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,030 ✭✭✭✭Jordan 199

My Playstation is in a different room from the modem so the ethernet cable is out. I'll come up with a solution sometime.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,506 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

Yeah, maybe something like a powerline ethernet extender will do the trick for you 🙂

Just my own thoughts anyway, as I feel the 2 experiences are worlds apart, wired vs Wi-Fi 👍

+1 for Powerlines. I get ping and latency issues sometimes on Rocket League on WiFi but never an issue with the Homeplugs. Got the TP Link ones, the 150Mbps, for around €40, think the Gb ones are near €10 or something. A bit more for each if you want them to be a WiFi range extender too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,458 ✭✭✭corcaigh07

Another +1 for powerline adapters, I find the Wi-Fi to be worse on PS5 than PS4 for online gaming. No lag with Ethernet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,704 ✭✭✭✭duploelabs

Another +1 to powerline adapters. I've my driving rig and PS4 running off WiFi, and the ping/lag made anything competitive impossible, powerline adapter sorted that out sharpish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,229 ✭✭✭jj880

Yeah the tplink plugs are the business. I've everything cabled that I can cable. Massive improvement on PS5, PC, android box and TV. Haven't streamed gaming yet but have an IPTV sub I'm gona try today on my TV.

Yeah the powerline adapters are great. And can get passthrough ones so you don't lose the sockets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,030 ✭✭✭✭Jordan 199

So I found a box for powerline adapters I bought back in 2020 for smart lighting. I have one adapter, but the other one is missing. Maybe it grew a pair of legs and walked out the door.

Actually, anyone here got a WiFi6 router and notice any improvement?

Gave up on Yakuza, after about 20 minutes I just wasn't feeling it. More and more games are making character interactions better, so it's kinda jarring to go back to a game which has those silences between lines.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,506 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

Always the case, something always goes missing 😁

It's ok. Super repetitive, basically doing the same thing over and over and over again.

PS Pluss Extra games now live. Does anyone have just ps plus essential and can check something? I'm trying to figure out if when you are upgrading to Extra, is there a discount price depending on how many months of essential you have left or how does it look?

My plus premium is up this week, trying to decide whether to go essential or extra.

This is how it looks for me, I have Essential only.

Yeah I just have essential and if you try to upgrade it's based on how long you have left in the current subscription. So mine is currently up until May 2023 or something, and I'd pay for 9 months of 'Extra' if I upgraded.

    Great thanks lads.

If I was on holiday in Turkey, can I buy PlayStation premium over there and use it on my PlayStation back in Ireland or is that all stopped?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,102 ✭✭✭EoinMcLovin

PSN credit and subs are tied to region of account. If you bought playstation plus premium in Turkey, it would not work on your Irish Account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,281 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Ah, fair enough. That, and the fact you control an AI team who aren't always the best... think I'll give it a pass. Cheers!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,595 ✭✭✭Damien360

Tried it last night for about 3 hours. All the missions were miles apart. Drive for ages to get to mission, your team are muck, controls are iffy to say the least. Deleted it soon after. The load screen alone annoyed me. Big Ubisoft banner top right telling you various things you “won” before it even started.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,090 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    It's your standard Ubisoft game.

Make a big open world and put lots of filler in it. The open world lets you do the areas in whatever order you choose, which sounds impressive but it's not really since the actual game mechanic of every area is exactly the same, all that changes is the topography.

Do a few missions, kill a boss. Drive a lot. Rinse and repeat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,857 ✭✭✭Jacovs

Maybe I will get an answer here faster than from Sony.

If you move from Ireland to a different country, whats your options?

Quit your irish PS Plus sub, lose all the games, and start a new account in the new location and start from scratch?

Or can you change the mobile number on your irish account to a mobile number in the new country? And top up your Irish PS Plus sub via paypal using a bank account from the new country?

You can't change regions so you'd need to quit your Irish sub and set up a brand new account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,857 ✭✭✭Jacovs

Very pain in the arse. Suddenly lose 120+ games from your library.

Do they not allow changing your mobile number to a non-irish number either? Only other option is to remove 2FA completely so the mobile number isnt a problem anymore.

    Then top up via paypal.

Edit: they do allow change of phone number, so I did that now. Deactivate 2FA, add new number from different country, remove old irish number, activate 2FA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,699 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

You might not be able to pay via PayPal, but voucher codes will still work. You can keep your Irish account for playing all your games and your subscription, but it might be easier to also set up an account in your new region for game purchases.

Many users here have PSN accounts in multiple regions to avail of cheaper games. I have a Singapore and a US account in addition to my Irish one to get cheaper games and ones exclusive to SEA in English.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,857 ✭✭✭Jacovs

Thanks. And no, cant do paypal it seems. PSN wont let you add a card from a different country than your psn account, same for a paypal account from a different region. And cant add a card from new country to Irish paypal account either.

And if i remember correctly most places that sell irish voucher codes rarely have them in stock?

That leaves us with asking family in Ireland to buy a physical voucher in Smyths for example. But werent they all removed from stores too before the new PS+ was rolled out recently?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,699 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

All the places that have discounted Irish vouchers have been out of stock for a long time, you can still get digital codes from Smyths or GameStop. The PS+ subscription cards have been replaced with 3 new monetary value cards at €60, €100 and €120

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,857 ✭✭✭Jacovs

Perfect. Not too bothered with discounted vouchers, just as long as I can get it digitally.

Im sure they have it discounted when Sony have discounts once or twice a year.

Yeah, you should still be able to get discount subs around E3 and Black Friday from PSN. Bit annoying you can't get subs directly now though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,857 ✭✭✭Jacovs

Just a bit more hassle yes.

The more annoying thing, if we do want to buy any new games online we will have to make a new account for where we live now. And then that account wont have ps+ so that limits the games you can buy (if online multiplayer type games).

Will just have to get family in Ireland to fund my gaming habit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,552 ✭✭✭✭Varik

The places that sell cards at a discount have been short on stock but normal priced ones are around.

Smyths themselves sell them online and it's a code rather than card. Gamestop too, and they give the code in you orders list.

The cards discontinued were the 30-day 60 day 1 year ones, they replaced them with a bunch of new € amount cards

You can add an App now for 2 step instead of using the phone too if that's still an issue, it's better as you've not to wait to get the text with the code.

You can still buy off the Irish PSN and just buy € vouchers off smyths/gamestop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,699 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

If you set your console as the Home for your Irish account and for your new regional account you can share your PS+ online benefits with your new regional account, and even better you can play any games bought using the regional account on your Irish one. That could mess things up if you need to purchase in-game currency though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,857 ✭✭✭Jacovs

Thanks. And yeah, assuming theres no problem buying from either those using a foreign payment method.

The mobile number with text is working fine now on foreign number, and have the app too, so can go either way with that at least.

Thats interesting and something worth looking at. I think the only place we have bought in game currency was Fortnite once or twice for the little fella, but he is gone off the game now so might not be a problem. Cheers

Hadn't logged on to my PS4 in months but got an email this evening telling me I'd a free month of PS+ premium. Nice, might as well play Stray and a couple of others.

    EDIT: think it's sorted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,353 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

None of my cards or PayPal ever work. Always end up buying credit from Smyths and adding that to my account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,026 ✭✭✭Wossack

Something dodgy going on for me at least with uncharted 4 & lost legacy… both not available outside the legacy of thieves bundle (@50e) on the ps5 store

however, just happened to be on the app on the phone, and lo are the ps4 versions available to download as part of my extra sub (so FOC)

once added, and now suddenly able to search them both up in the ps5 storefront

    pretty poor..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,699 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

Yeah, they delisted both games individually on PS4 when the PS5 collection was announced to stop people from getting a cheap upgrade. It's €10 to upgrade to the PS5 collection from either 4 or Lost Legacy excluding the Plus version of 4.

  • Posts: 13,688 ✭✭✭✭ Amirah Freezing Tomcat

You were quick today haha, the notification only popped up now.

I thought I had it sorted but no joy.

I don't use the playstation much but it's a nuisance when I do. I'll buy some credit from Smyths instead.

    Thanks, Germ.

PS Plus Essential for September 2022: Need for Speed Heat, TOEM and Granblue Fantasy Versus

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,699 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

Nice. Been looking for Granblue to be at a good price for a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,492 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

Toem is a really fun and relaxing game. Loved playing it and loved its warmth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,030 ✭✭✭✭Jordan 199

Need For Speed Heat is an okay game.
