    See above post.

Do you also think that all these elites with these fancy cars are coming here to switch to living on 200 euro a week on the dole?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,325 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

It's not just a case that we unilaterally decided to offer help. They have been given permission to stay in the EU. They can stay wherever they like within the EU. Ireland has still not taken in its pro-rata share of the Ukrainians in the EU so it doesn't have much scope to be complaining.

Many posters on here complaining would be complaining if we took in one. They jump on each and every story about a single Ukrainian here and try to find fault with it.

Can you find any post in this thread accusing Ukrainians of purposefully coming here to stay in Gormanstown?

I dont believe any of the welfare paid to Ukrainians is means tested so they may well be doing that. Who knows what they have in other bank accounts - whether they can afford to keep themselves or not. We havent done even the basics of checks in this country, simple as rock up with a Ukrainian passport and you can avail of it all.

    Hmm, speaking of Elites 🤔

Piers Morgan who most will know for his quite extraordinary and extreme views gets an "Exclusive" interview with Zelenskyy & His wife from their "Elegant Bunker", due to be aired tommorow. Morgans ratings are so low its amazing Zelenskyy bothered.

How Zelenskyy keeps up with all these Celebs, Promotional interviews is quite extraordinary, Perhaps the Golden Couple will feature on the Front Cover of next months Hello Magazine. All very "Trumpian"

Meanwhile Millions of Ukrainian Citizens needlessly displaced but why would Zelenskyy be even slightly bothered, they are not his problem.

I won't link to the Twitter reactions to this latest bizzare celebrity style interview,, people can check it out for themselves but needless to say Reaction has been swift and not at all bigoted but certainly not positive.

Those who appear to be concerned about Ukrainian Refugees might wish to ask, what their own government and particularly Zelenskyy is doing for them.

The Ukrainian Reg Cars gets more mention again this morning and of course out of context.

It's perfectly ligitimate to ask how it is remotely possible Genuine Refugees fleeing with barely the shirt on their backs can be rightly considered Refugees to.......

Folks arriving here in extremely expensive new cars being accomodated at various hotels around the country, Getting Free Bord and food and being paid in the process, whilst seemingly able to travel back and forward to Ukraine (a war zone) whilst some continue to run their businesses from here as being Genuine Refugees 🤔 Some images hotel carparks being used specifically to house Ukrainian refugees look more like an expensive Car Sales Depot and wether some folks like it or not, the optics are shocking.

This is not makey up stuff, Irish Newspapers helpfully report these extraordinary contradictions albeit in the persuit of virtue signalling their own words trip them up and I'm more than happy to point out these extraordinary contradictions.

France, a country 12 times our size has taken in somewhere between 70k-100k compared to our 43k. At the end of the day every country can only take in so many. The EU need to be told, sorry but we're full up, maybe try going to France as they haven't taken as much pro-rata.As a matter of interest where do you suggest we house more refugees if they arrive, concrete suggestions please.

Do these people have better imaginary cars than you? Is that your "issue"?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,070 ✭✭✭realdanbreen

It's uncanny really. I was at a meeting in Borrisokane some years ago where direct provision was being discussed and this small fella from some nationalist party, Barrett was his name I think, stood up and ranted about Refugees driving around in "Expensive looking " cars looking for "free board" ! Just like you've mentioned ! He got short shrift I can assure you and himself and his goons were sent packing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,201 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

A yes, I'm familiar with that little episode in Borrisokane but you've left out the general uproar locally, not just that Barrett clowns comments about a DP centre being located there and I might add elsewhere around the country. I'd love you to share a single car let alone expensive one owned by a DP resident.

Whilst your going off topic given the Thread is about Ukrainian Refugees, the only real connection to both is this, those very same communities somehow have seen the Virtue signalling light and now welcome in Ukrainian refugees, call very odd but thanks for highlighting what has been highlighted many time, Hypocrisy alive and kicking, even flourishing in many Communites around the country.

Your posts definitely make no sense. Obsessed with cars. Now the DP residents have expensive ones. Do they leave those at bus stops as well?

What relevance is it what brand of car they drive?

I would like to ask you if you think that they are not bringing in their own cars?

I can assure you that they most certainly are and they are not imaginary at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,325 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

Well if I had a car, and I could get it out before it was blown to pieces by Russian missiles, I'd be driving it out of there too. It wouldn't make me not a refugee.

The same poster that is begrudging them having "fancy" cars is one of the ones obsessed with the fear that all the Ukrainians want to do is arrive here and sit on the dole forever. If you can afford a fancy car in Ukraine or anywhere else, you're not going to be too happy with 200 quid a week here.

I like your stat on the fact that most certainly are. Would you have gotten that from an official source, or perhaps pulled it out of your own hole, or maybe read it in a rant on Facebuke? Not that it matters how many have cars.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,201 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

No begrudging at all, ligimate questions and incidently I'm not alone in raising this curiousity, Try look back over months of this Thread, I've actually only become more aware of it in the past few weeks, but thanks for the extra special attention 😉

Oh! Mother of God, they're bringing in their own cars!

At this rate you will run out of pearls to clutch!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 Da Witch of Da West

Hell with the cars. I don't understand how they in one breath "fleeing from war, missiles over their heads", yet, in the next breath they are going back and forth "to visit home, family and friends".

Or, how they claim SW here, yet have running business still operating over in Ukraine.

It should be at least filtered on regional basis. If a region is deemed as dangerous or war zone or whatever, well, then it should be deemed to go back there.

If you have a business that is able to operate, then you have income and do not need support from the state.

"So Ms. Ukrainian. Your house was flattened and your entire family were murdered but you managed to escape. Yes, we have verified this story. However, it has come to our attention from a photo on your friend's Facebuke page that you used to own a nice pushbike and therefore are not qualified to seek protection here as ownership of said bike proves that you don't need any protection from missiles or raping Ruskis. Back to the Donbas with you"

I'd say by the time you get to 50+ posts you will have seen first hand "the foreign one leaving the buggy at the bus stop" !

Eh.. what's the problem with refugees staying in tents over winter?? We don't live in Siberia. This is Ireland with a fairly moderate maritime climate. Tents are widely used around the world for shelter in emergency situations. These are not LALDI pop up tents, but good quality tentage with heating & ventilation systems designed for use.

Would I live in one over winter? Of course, if I needed to. Be a damn sight better than some of the mouldy rat infested rooms that pass for private rented accommodation.

Question: we are at over 40k Ukrainians at the minute and some are sleeping in tents at the minute. Student accommodation will be required back in a month's time. Refugees staying in hotels is hammering tourism.

The government reckons there'll be 80k here by crimbo, do you think this is sustainable?

Answer : you bigot, you should be ashamed of yourself, bombs are falling!

I seriously hope some of the posters on here work in the refugee industry! If not, there's no hope for them!

Let's dissect the actual concerns about Ukrainian registered Cars for those a little late coming to the thread and seem fixated.

    A. Insurance: who's checking or verifying this, No one because they Can't, Do we actually know if these cars are insured to drive in Ireland, No. At a checkpoint, we're does a garda start 🤔

    B. Ukrainian Driving Licenses: who's checking these and verifying they are valid, No one, because they can't, it gets worse, they are actually being exchanged for Irish Licenses with absolutely no liasing with Ukranian officials, as they've left the office. Literally no questions being asked.

    C. Re registration: Granted this is all over the place because we don't know how to determine legal residency in relation to normal rules that would apply, but others, resident in this country would be required to re register their cars after a certain amount of time, Just an observation but will this happen in this circumstance, clearly not, we're does one even start.

    D. Irish Insurance companies. Falling over themselves virtue signalling offering discounts, Waiving normal rules for one Cohort 🤔 could that be considered Bigotry or discrimination 🤔 but this aside they are literally accepting self declaration at face value, (don't take my word for it, they proudly advertise the fact) But when we research for answers, silence, pages mysteriously removed from RSA Website, vague answers from industry representatives, all has been discussed in the past. But even if insurance was being offered, I know of no insurance company that insures foreign registered cars in Ireland, (I've said I'm open to correction, but none forthcoming) , so what is going on 🤔 no one seems to have the answers, are Ukrainian Vehicles being Insured in Ireland by irish insurance companies 🤔 or do they need to purchase irish registered vehicles 🤔

So it's not Begrudging or Bigotry at all, these are ligitimate questions and I for one would not like to be involved with a Tip with one of these cars.

I would ask the same question of any foreign registered car here as would Authorities.

I have carefully stated that Ukrainian men 'eligible for and wanted for service' back in Ukraine should be deported back to Ukraine. The Ukrainian authorities will know from their own censuses and records just who is on the list. What's your problem here? There are clearly Ukrainian men in this position who have fled the country and are abusing our system. This is not acceptable and if it continues, undermines public support for genuine Ukrainian war refugees. We should under no circumstances support draft dodgers.

And yes, if we were as a state were in this position, I would be volunteering to do my bit as best I could. That's part of citizenship. And I'd hope that you would too.

And I can assure you having glanced through another mini novel of a post from you that I would absolutely hate to have a "tip" with your car!

I dislike placing anyone on Ignore, I read posts equally, whether I agree with the posters opinion or not, but there's only so much moronic drivel I can take. I suppose the gents user name was a clue.

I can't get the image out of my head of a Ukrainian with a 'fancy' car wanting to park it somewhere safe to avoid those Russian missiles. Understandably so as people can get very attached to their cars.

Now where would be the safest place to park it? Option 1 - you could drive half way across your own country that's for the most part unaffected by all that falling debris and quite easily find a safe parking place. Option 2 - drive across an entire continent to find the same safe parking place.

Now, unless there was some other benefits to traversing a continent in your 'fancy' automobile, which option would you choose?

What is the definition of a fancy car? For example I saw a Ukrainian car Corolla 08-12 shape. Is that fancy?
