Scare mongering Tweet related to the Ukrainian Refugee crisis and now since clarified as having merit, surely your not suggesting censorship Donald re reporting on Ukrainian Refugees on a Thread that's about Ukrainian Refugees or perhaps you just want to focus on fluffyness 🤔 very bewildering.

Keep going your doing a stellar job highlighting the Farce that prevails, although you must be exhausted, have to admire your stamina, we should actually be thanking you , not ignoring you as most appear to be doing 😏

The tweet said 350 single adults. In response to people pointing out that that was obvious nonsense, you post a story that it will be accommodating 12 single adults. And you think that justifies the original tweet. Lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,201 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

You didn't care what the actual tweet said , you portrayed it as fiction and threw insults , if I recall you were also guilty of miss typing also.

The fact remains , You assumed the story was nonsense, decided to do back of a pad calculations rather than check if there was any truth to the rumors that this establishment will be used to accomodate Ukranian refugees, that's now been clarified, it may be embarrassing for you but continuing this nonsense only adding to your embarrassment , I'd like to oblige in this regard but I've made my point ,surely even that should be enough for you.

    Lol at your digging.

Story in the tweet was patently fiction and remains fiction.

Morto for ya for still believing it. Either that or just trolling at this stage

It might be sunny, but the level of support is non-comparable, their social benefits are 6 times lower than here: €150 monthly adult rate/ €75 child rate. This is in a well-off Barcelona and it varies per region, so can be even less in other parts of Spain.

Sorry it's the Daily Mail, but thoughts on this..I think the phrase "There will be no going back to Ukraine" says quite a lot about the intentions of some people https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10964119/Heartless-landlord-kicking-Ukrainian-family-nine-senior-Royal-Navy-officer.html

There should be a long term plan about refugees and their integration in society.

I agree , a Plan on when they are returning home. There's some interesting other articles in the Times (Not the Irish one) and elsewhere that might interest you , but perhaps not as they don't quite agree with the narrative 😏

There will be a significant portion for whom Ukraine will never be their home again due to the level of destruction there. It will take decades for reconstruction to be completed and thats only going to become a bigger task the longer this war lasts.

Very few will go back. Too much free stuff here. Read the Facebook groups. A lot of these people make our own homegrown bums look like thankful and well deserving folks.

These folk will stay here as long as the VIP all inclusive benefit bonanza is kept going. Cut them completely off, ala Poland, and I guarantee that there would be no shortage of hotel beds within a month.

I certainly sympathise, but that's not our responsibility though. We can't just resettle any and all who arrive long-term (even short-term is unsustainable as we're seeing) because a relatively small part of their massive country has been destroyed.

We have our own problems to solve and own people who are struggling. The tap of "freebies" needs to be turned off. After that they are welcome to apply for residency/work rights under the same rules as any other non-EU citizen.

I take it, I won't be getting an apology from Mr. Trump?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,201 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Of course not but I tried 😏 I felt it important to clarify you did absolutely nothing wrong , yes the Tweet didn't have context or a link and I chased that up to insure there was context and your post completely appropriate.

I try to be objective, I could have just left it but I don't subscribe to the need to insult people to get my points of view across.

Glad to have clarified some facts and context 😏 unfortunately one person is not 😏

Totally agree with you. This is what we are up against now. The country is nothing but a open free for all now for these ungrateful arseholes. There's no point working or trying your best in this country when they're (our so called government) content to leave the country get raped like this.

Time to drop this fake good little boy attitude they have in this country and wise up to the **** going on out there. We can't be the treasure island any longer for the rest of the world. Most of the population here get very little support and it's nauseating seeing this kind of carry on now.

You seem to be adept at sharing convenient articles, I don't need to show you how but David Quinn a good start , not afraid to call out lazy journalism. I've a subscription so you may not be able to view his articles, but some interesting Tweets , he's no Fake Journnalist either before the claptrap commences .

Should we make plans for Ukrainians to be able to travel to the Eurovision next year in the UK?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 648 ✭✭✭Irelandsnumberone

Well you can get the bus from Busaras straight to London, should be no problem

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,201 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

No plans necessary, they'll make there own way, as we know many well able to travel as much as they like,

But, But , But...... they might just find a spot of bother at UK immigration controls 😏

Said this re: my local university, on campus…. Loads of Ukrainian people without children, young adults of fighting age, dozens of them, single young adult females without children too…

Student orientations for the first years there is listed to begin 15th September… Lectures start September 20th.

be interesting to see what if any ‘ alternative arrangements ‘ are made for the Ukrainians staying on campus so that they can be accommodated elsewhere to enable students to learn and be on campus in student accommodation.

there is of now, no plan as to what is going to happen to those Ukrainian people and… as regards students, there is a tonne of uncertainty as to what they can do as regards the procurement of accommodation….and get an education that they strived so hard to qualify for.

an appalling situation, just zero communication or thought. I remember the good old days when public representatives , voted for and paid by the citizens of this country had the first concern and priority as regards wellbeing, education and delivery of services for taxpayers as a priority….Now ? Invisible, silent, in hiding …

now I’m reading an educational forum / message board on Reddit when an individual claims that when he applied for accommodation at University of Limerick for next year, turned down flat, ‘ unprecedented demand ‘ he was told…

kids are being spat on, given the middle finger… as is society here at large.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,325 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

Well, to be fair, kids getting spat on for going to UL can hardly be claimed to be a thing that started with the invasion of Ukraine. That has been going on since the place opened...........although it was normally a tradition performed by disappointed parents upon being informed of the CAO offer.

Don't worry. Have a bit of confidence in yourself. Some might bring stiff competition, but I'd say you'll be able to compete with them.

I'm sure there's buses from Ukraine also, or possibly Trains , flights etc , if all fails , Car , seems to be no problem for some to travel freely back and forth, I'd be cautious though, UK Border controls may not be so welcoming 😏

I didn't post any tweet. Why are you making things up Donald?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,395 ✭✭✭✭Furze99

Two practical things need to be done: to support Ukraine but also limit those taking advantage

    1) by all means, provide accomm & meals to war refugees but very limited financial payments should be made, just enough to get by.

    2) interview all Ukrainian males and deport those who are eligible for service back in Ukraine. Under no circumstances should we be tolerating draft dodging and I don't care a whit if they claim they might be in danger back at Ukraine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,201 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Correct you referenced a Tweet a point I've repeatedly mentioned to Donald, perhaps another typo 😉

Now I really expect an apology from Mr. Trump for claiming I posted "bigoted crap" in this thread.

Well your buddy was trying to say that I should apologise to the poster of said tweet and you jumped in with a "I take it, I won't be getting an apology from Mr. Trump?". So it looked like you were claiming you posted it. You might have been moaning over something else instead and felt left out that you weren't being talked about directly.

Your same buddy said I should apologise for "portraying" the tweet - which said that there would 350 single adults in that hotel this week - as a fiction ...... because they found an article which stated that there would in fact be 12 single adults there this week.

It would be like me insisting that there were a million people at the All Ireland Final yesterday. And when people told me I was wrong, I kept doubling down and insisting I was correct. And then later turning around and demanding an apology because I found an article stating that there were 80k people at it.

I don't care a whit if they claim they might be in danger back at Ukraine.

Unfortunately you have zero input into the system of International Protection. What you personally care, or don't care, is irrelevant. They would be entitled to claim it, and would likely receive it.
