I should add I couldn’t get any tickets looking for 2 but searching for one, on two devices, got me two options

That's about the worst excuse I've ever heard for not supporting your county while calling yourself a genuine supporter in your previous post.

I live in Meath and missed 1 Kerry game this year cos I couldn't get off work for the Donegal game in Killarney. I love the spin down for games and if we win, the journey feels like nothing at all.

Should receive a lifetime ban on ever attending an All-Ireland.

Sounds like he is being genuine, but then again the comments are far fetched enough to put it into spoofer territory.

Jaysis had no idea , thats hilarious and a bit sad.

As a north Galway man I can assure you that's nonsense about the spiritual home. More like couldn't be bothered getting off their arse to deal with the traffic around Galway and Salthill. Nobody likes it but we put up with it to support Galway. It's what genuine supporters do.

I'm sure others in North Galway are embarrassed when they see backward & bitter comments like that. Get over yourself and support your county if you want to call yourself a proper Galway fan. Rest of the county has moved on in the past 30 years and got behind the team irrespective of whether they're from Dunmore, Lettermore or Ballinasloe once they wearing the maroon jersey.

Ah, I wouldn't go as far as to ban someone lol. But the genuine supporter comment is thrown around for all finals by fans of every team and as the poster has proven themselves, they don't even go to games on down the road so.far from a genuine fan.

It's why I stopped helping friends out who don't go to games or volunteer in our club. Only want final tickets

A lot of north Galway people would disagree and I can certainly understand that they would. You do definitely feel like you miss out at times by refusing to go to Pearse. I've gone to Pearse Stadium to club games and whilst I admit I don't like it I have no great issue with doing so but not for county matches. I average about 3 to 5 Galway matches a year between other home games and away and neutral trips so I don't see how anyone could say I don't make the effort. I wouldn't ever try to force my views on Pearse Stadium on to other people but I feel its a legitimate viewpoint.

That's absolutely ridiculous that you go club in Salthill but not county. That's spite more than support tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,055 ✭✭✭flasher0030

On what principle do you go to club matches in Pearce, but not intercounty games?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,794 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

Have 2 premium tickets for the corner of Hogan/Davin and looking to swap for 2 decent lowers (Cusack/Hogan only) plus cash my way if that would suit anyone.

    They are not for sale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32 Barnsleyfc

The principle is that I feel as do many other people in north Galway that Tuam is the home of Galway football and thus that's where they should be playing their home championship matches. I can accept that Pearse Stadium has a role for club matches as can many others.

Tickets are still randomly going on sale on Ticketmaster. I just picked up an Upper Hogan. It's far from the best seat in the house, but it's better than nothing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,875 ✭✭✭mightyreds

Yeah I picked up a Nally stand one passed on a couple in upper Cusack and , passed on a pretty good Davin stand one but on the hunt for another Nally now

You must have no familiarity with Croke park or what tickets you have or even what it's like to genuinely desperately need tickets.

You realise you're trying to get better tickets than the ones you have, plus cash? Do a straight swap or else take a hike.

Premium has no free food or perks and from experience the atmosphere isn't a patch on "decent lowers".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,794 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

For purely enjoying the match and atmosphere yes, you're right. However there's a variety of reasons why someone would prefer premiums over the lowers. Anyone with even a general knowledge of going to matches at croker would know that.

Dunno why you decided you needed to take issue with my post and I certainly don't know why you need to be so condescending about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 867 ✭✭✭MattressRick

Because for someone who's going just for the match, which is what loads of people are still looking for tickets for, you are looking for someone to pay you for worse seats.

If someone wants premium obviously that's a different point of view, but the vast vast majority of people just want to see the match and I think your post smacks of being greedy. I've only ever really seen straight swaps being offered in these scenarios over the years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 867 ✭✭✭MattressRick

Also, head back to the Galway forum on Proboards where you posted the same message as well. You're getting a pretty hostile reaction there so I'm not alone in my thinking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,794 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

Whether you like or not there will be a significant portion of people going that would only have a passing interest in the match, and might prefer to seat in a less crowded area with far better facilities. And I'm not looking to make a profit. I paid a certain amount for premium, some people paid less for the lowers. Premium seats might suit some people far better for a whole variety of different reasons. If someone wants to swap then it suits the both of us and no one loses out. If not so be it. Really don't see what the issue is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 867 ✭✭✭MattressRick

I know well and I accept the situation around tickets, sponsorship is essential and distributes tickets to people just there for the day out.

But if you had any clue at all you should know that straight swaps between hill and seated tickets happen countless times for all Irelands because it suits both parties and everyone's happy to have the position or view they want, but there's never a stipulation of "plus cash". Theres about a 40 euro difference between hill and any seat, but it's never asked for.

If you want better seats, swap your tickets and suck up the price difference like any genuine supporters do for finals where people are struggling to get them.

It's important to know the difference between the cost of an all Ireland final ticket and the true value, you don't.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,794 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

I really don't know if this can be seriously written by someone who actually goes to games...

So basically, to summarise your point - you're annoyed that I'm looking to swap a more expensive ticket for a cheaper one and the price difference? Why would anyone take an issue with that..

I swapped my hill tickets plus cash for premium in 2019 for the replay. For the first game that year I swapped uppers for Hill tickets and cash. I pay face value and expect the same. You don't get to decide what a genuine supporter is, and you certainly don't get to decide how they go about swapping tickets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,055 ✭✭✭flasher0030

Bit of an overreaction here. I don't see how Big Pussy is making a profit out of it. Why would he incur a loss if there is someone out there who genuinely would prefer the Premium level. If there are no takers, then so be it. But unfair to label him or her greedy. He or she is not touting, which is a big difference.

I think I've only been involved in 3 swops in my lifetime attending croke park. And each time, the difference in price was compensated for. Or swopping two terraces for a stand I think one time. I've never heard of just a straight swop. I'm sure it happens but that's up to the parties involved.

A lot of North Galway 'supporters' have this ridiculous attitude as if Tuam Stadium is some sort of Mecca when in actuality it's a kip and always has been.

What do you propose the Galway County Board do, shake the money tree and build two intercounty stadiums? One for the 'spiritual home' that is Tuam and another for the hurlers in Athenry? Or drag the hurlers to Tuam as well to sample its hay shed for a stand themselves.

I don't decide what a genuine supporter is, you're right there. But I guess the first words out of someone's mouth that I've heard when they wanted to swap tickets weren't as obnoxious as your first post on the matter. It looks grabby and greedy, that's how it reads to me.

And like I said, other forums you posted on this evening are replying to you in disagreeable terms so I'm not alone in my thinking.

But look, each his own as they say.
