I've not mentioned welfare Trains, there is of course issues with our welfare system generally but that's for another discussion.

We elect people to make decisions for the welfare of the Irish population. Not for Ukrianinans.

    Massive difference there.

So why add more to the gravy train then? Utterly idiotic

Remember some of the people, our people lost their jobs due to the Covid fiasco and they are more than entitled to welfare having previously paid their social insurance. The blow in's are not entitled to it as they never contributed a cent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,055 ✭✭✭✭road_high

Sadly, the Irish working population is held to a very different standard than to the blow ins.

Wonder if I rang up revenue would they allow me a month or 6 off paying PAYE, PRSI, USC, BIK due to the financial pressure I am under??

Technically the Ukrainians are entitled to it as it is being offered to them. No point blaming the Ukrainians for any of this, the issues are due to government negligence again. Remember, come the winter there well could be another surge of migration into Europe. We will have to take them in also and the Ukrainians will be forgotten about.

Anymore illegal and unwanted economic migration into Europe and it’s going to explode- socially, politically and economically

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,218 ✭✭✭jackboy

Another large wave is almost guaranteed in the next year or so, so we will see.

Yes indeed but average wage is 200 / 250 euro per month in Ukraine they are now getting that weekly and food and shelter all paid this is Disney land to them ! & they will never leave ! The folk in the direct provision are really being sh1t on and the racism is blaringly obvious too !

It’s fairly simple- you rigidly guard your borders and expel all economic illegals back to where they came from (well, keep them out in the first place of course). This is going to become the No 1 issue in Europe this decade- population around Africa and Middle East is growing rapidly with useless governance, rampant corruption and inability and unwillingness to develop- the easier option is jump on the European gravy train. The numbers aren’t manageable into the future so something will have to give

If you have 2 or 3 kids you'll definitely be making your way here. You can see from the Facebook groups Ireland is where its at. All those kids on the books with no schools able to manage, its crazy.

They might respond if you had provided actual verifiable facts rather than idle gossip and supposition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,055 ✭✭✭✭road_high

You made quite a claim here so back it up- point out the “idle gossip and supposition” in that post?

All I see is extremely valid and pertinent questions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,199 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Would those be the facts I and a number of others gave 🤔, would they be the facts two TD'S took the time to ask questions of Ministers, would they be the facts I discussed in my home with an elected member of the Dail (someone I've never met before or voted for)

I submitted numerous Questions and some facts.

I don't believe I'm alone and wether you can accept it or not, not every community is content to stand idly by and accept this virtue signalling nonsense or have two fingers stuck up at them by this government.

I was in town yesterday and Penney’s is packed with refugees, whole families are out shopping! 🥳 The talks were about swimming pools they visit!

Well they have packets of disposal income and Eastern Europeans love Penneys- so why wouldn’t they!

good point! I must get on to Senator Sharon Keoghan , she's very good at communicating with locals about everything here and is a bit of a trailblazer in this area for speaking her mind.

She was the only local Govt representative (amongst the likes of Thomas Byrne, Fergus O Dowd, Ged Nash) who objected to the recent proposal of planning permission for 269 "temporary 5 year units" for Ukrainian refugees specifically (no others). This plan has been temporarily paused but it may resurface again https://www.independent.ie/regionals/louth/news/plans-for-almost-570-temporary-homes-in-laytown-for-refugees-41688560.html

TDs ignore the issue, don't respond to constituents on the issue.

I emailed my TDs also. I have written to them from time to time on a number of issues and have almost always received a response from all 4 of them. No response from any of them on this

the politicians will not listen on this

(incidentally, my lot are a shower anyway. A PBP, an independent, a shinner, and an utter irrelevance that is Right2Change)

TDs and political parties are playing a game…

they know XX% won’t be returning. A significant number. More will arrive…

so they are canvassing for those votes… NOW

” ohhh remember X party or X politicians helped us and we’re on our side “

if Labour, a party already on its arse, only 7 TDs was to be seen even questioning it… liberals, wokies, will leave their side in droves.

There’s going to be WW3 if and when these units are built and Irish working people that can’t afford their own place or paying extortionate rents see it happening in front of their eyes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,609 ✭✭✭Tonesjones

Irish people won't do anything. It's mostly the younger people who are struggling with the state of the housing market but these are also the same cohort who support unlimited refugees, hand holding government, immigration, end direct provision etc

You are right of course- there is a large cohort that can’t or won’t join the dots

The folk in the direct provision are really being sh1t on and the racism is blaringly obvious too !

The agenda being pushed by you is obvious too.

DP is entirely aimed at those seeking Asylum. Ukrainians are not Asylum seekers. They're refugees. There's a difference.

Also, you might want to consider that among those within the DP system are White too.

It's not racism. It's preferential treatment based along political lines. The EU made the play to elevate the Ukrainian conflict.. and our politicians chose to pander to that directive, going far beyond what they needed to do, so that they could earn virtue points with other European nations.

Lastly, considering how many failed Asylum applications and appeals go through the system, I honestly don't give a flying F about those who have chosen to remain in DP. People come to Ireland looking for handouts. They get here, are safe, get their basic needs satisfied... and they can go elsewhere if they're not happy with what's on offer.

IMHO you're as bad as those pushing for all the "extra" help for the Ukrainians, as you probably would want the same for all AS/refugees.. just to be fair, after all.

Nah. It's all a stupid game being played with Irish people forced into paying for others. Help AS/refugees to get their basic needs sorted, get them ready for work, and then treat them the same as any other economic migrant. If they can't find work, deport them, unless they can prove that their lives would be in danger as a result of leaving Ireland. Even then, though, treat them with the most basic of provisions, with everything else coming from them.

We're being played here. We should be closing down most of this nonsense.

Common people don't live the lives of Irish leaders. Though they sound Irish, they live in a world of big salaries and elite society. Surely people would have figured out they weren't that smart after the 2008 crisis? If things go wrong again, a country that grows its debt from 50 billion to 250 billion is in big trouble. Getting these refugees off the social security benefits and into work is good. At least they'll be earning something and making lives for themselves in their own way.

quote For every 1,000 refugees who will be accommodated by the State in a hotel, it’ll cost about €33 million per year.”

    Living space, that's all

It's gonna be a lot of money in the long run. I think a Ukrainian would get off his ass and work unlike some of the Irish who have been collecting dole for decades. People who avoid work like the plague annoy me. Someone who gets up early and comes home late should not be paying for someone who doesn't work? Some people have medical problems and others are unable to find employment for legitimate reasons, but others are having a laugh.   You're all right looking after your own as long as you give back. Unemployed people who smoke fags on the street all day are doing anything to improve themselves. Offer freebies now, but make sure they'll give something back later.

I dont think we should take anyone into our country period and we should deport failed assylum seekers and stop the legal gravy train defending their right to be here they have no right to be here. Every country has resources get up early and work then your country will be prosperous too. I believe colonialism destroyed the work ethic and rendered a lot of people in a state of dependency and they have never recovered coupled with foreign aid the motivation to work was squandered and now they are coming here and this is only the first wave. All of Africa will migrate in this direction that of Western Europe we are not even braced for the sunami of economic migrants and hoardes heading this way ! It will out number us and over whelm us and we will have no where to run too.
