Navan ED/Navan A&E should be retained. There certainly IS money out there (e.g. the Apple Tax).

The amnesty Helen Mcentee gave to 17,000 illegal migrants should be reversed and her constituents will punish her terribly for this because each of these 17,000 will be entitled to social welfare, grants, medical cards, housing etc. I'm betting the number will be even higher when you include family reunification.

Meath East is a sprawling constituency and the Navan ED closure is supposedly down to lack of money but it's amazing how McEntee's Government could find the money like they did with the illegal-migrant amnesty or even the National Broadband overspend.

Well it comes down to priorities. And services for the Irish people rank pretty low down the pecking order. Navan ED is just the latest victim

    as it shall continue.

They came here for temporary protection but there is literally scores more benefits, services and supports being offered and payed for by us to them that go absolutely way beyond protection.

    it’s bizarre, and quite unfair.

Haha so I'm lying then am I ? Are you saying there's no Ukrainians over here who can speak English?

Someone speaking English in an English speaking country , wow, imagine that .

Imagine indeed. Three foreigners newly arrived in a strange country, speaking an unfamiliar language rather than their native tongue.

The thing is those of us who remained unvaccinated have never forgotten how we were treated by the government and then by the general population. It definitely coloured and changed my attitude to power and people in this country and going forwards I would absolutely have a different attitude towards people and the powers that be

Yes, it is amazing. However, when they’re talking amongst themselves, it’s always in their native tongue. Which isn’t English!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 703 ✭✭✭US3

You were literally complimenting how how good their English is on this very thread last week. Embarrassed for you.

My dental hygienist two weeks ago at my dentists private practice told me the phone had been ringing seeing if they would be able to offer dental treatment to some new arrivals.

apparently it was someone from an NGO I can’t name but they are said to have taken a rather difficult and impertinent stance when what was offered by said practice in terms of appointment availability was less then what was expected. Practice manager told them they wouldn’t be as requested inconveniencing current clients especially over the summer with clients and indeed staff taking holidays etc… if they were to start moving appointments..which is what was being demanded of them..

one of the partners in the end withdrew their offer of all consultations and treatment and said “ ok, we cannot facilitate, the waiting list is too long apologies “.

Try and give people a genuine dig out only to have some drama llama representing them expecting you to push everyone else to the back of the Q.. people collectively who gross and contribute six figure revenues to this business between them.

    people have fûckin lost it.

The whole thing has rapidly moved from an expression of sympathy and charity, to virtue-signalling, to highlighting how unequal the Irish (taxpayers) are in their own country and how they're viewed by their own Government.

My patience has run out and my sympathy with it. We've done enough. We have a very hard autumn/winter ahead and that's where our focus needs to be. Those "refugees" already here can join the queues with the rest of us, they can try their luck elsewhere, or they can go home to the vast region not affected by the invasion.

    Enough is enough.

Indeed amazing the struggle to communicate at Dublin Airport, with DSP officials , Immigration officials, Transport officials, Accommodation agencies, Financial institution staff and yet finding all these exciting , fulfilling Jobs you continously reference 🤔

    All very Curious.

I worked and lived briefly in Ukraine a few years back (Kyiv) and let me assure you , English is practically a second Language there, especially Students and those those in their 20's, 30's, and mid 40's , not so much older generation. You'll obviously be also aware of Ukraines better than average education system.

So... Our local school who struggled to give extra support to my son because they are so full yet made two new classrooms up for Ukrainian kids won't have to accept them back in September because the kids can do online learning, which shouldn't be a problem for them considering that's what we all did for a long time thanks to the forgotten Covid? Silly me, of course not 🙄

I seen a post on Facebook yesterday a woman asking if anyone knew about accommodation because she was being evicted in August for a student, the reply was to sit tight no one can just evict her like that. All comments were translated from Ukrainian so no idea if the guy replying was Irish or Ukraine but things like that will be happening everywhere soon no doubt

I'm convinced that a couple of posters on here when there is the slightest criticism of Ukrainians, have an alarm on their phone that beeps, and they jump in to defend it.😉

I like most people in this country donated at the start, and had every sympathy with those people, and still do. I won't donate again, as far as I'm concerned, they are getting above and beyond what any other country is doing for them, which is why they are scrambling to get out of other countries to get in here. I do believe most of them are genuine, and I do think they should be helped, but I also think the numbers should have been capped, this country is too small to sustain what they are paying them, and it's our own citizens who will be pushed to the bottom of the pile.

With the Covid cases rising again they are pushing the boosters, as someone already said, the unvaccinated in this country were vilified, and couldn't even go in to sit down for a coffee without a cert, and there was even talk on mandatory vaccination. The Ukraine has a low uptake on covid vaccines, so why is there not a campaign to get those people vaccinated? The double standards is astounding! There is not any party interested in looking after our own people, they all have their own personal ambitions, each and every one of them, and if I was younger I'd get out of this country, I feel so sorry for the young, and there will be nothing for our grandchildren. We have worked all our lives, and for what? They are bleeding the peope of this country dry. I have climbed many hurdles over the years, but have never felt so depressed as I do right now about the way our country is going!

I would just like to add, the above post with the link to the RTE website, I had a post written last week, but the link wouldn't work, so I didn't bother, but it seems to have a life of it's own, because I didn't post that just now!

I’m not doubting their grasp of the English language. However, I’ve yet to hear them talking in English amongst themselves. Just found it unbelievable that an earlier poster overheard the conversation posted. Fortuitous, if you like.

A bit like other posters knowing for a fact that free busses are being laid on every second day to take the refugees wherever they want to go.

Students may be doing blended learning come September for college, as there may not be enough refugees vacate student accommodation so students could be asked to stay home. Was talking to a senior lecturer who said it has been suggested. Know no more before people start looking for blood tests and lie detector tests.

Just go look at all the posts on the Ukrainian social media pages.

**** loads of them looking for dental work that they were "JUST ABOUT" to start before the war kicked off 😂

    Liars.

I have noticed that a number of the adult refugees wear braces on their teeth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,349 ✭✭✭airy fairy

Well they better be making plans to go home to get them tightened and sorted, because those on waiting lists in the HSE are only for severe cases, you can't even get on a list unless your issues are severe. Waiting lists for teens are 2+ years.

But then again, after 2/3 months saving the unmerciful huge social payouts, they'd be able to pay privately in cash🙄

Oh no, sorry, they won't pay, but will try use their blue books as credit cards.

Nah. We are well and truly fooked for the months and years ahead.

Well I've clarified my own understanding of what free travel arrangements are being put on and posted a link to citizens info. But equally and truthfully mentioned a private bus service, free of charge is laid on 3 days a week for the now 30 Ukrainian refugees in my own village, whilst locals have to depend on and pay for the Town link service or the goodness of neighbours if they've no transport.

My grandchild need braces too, no chance of getting them free! The cost is eye watering for her parents, who are already struggling to keep their heads above water! I would imagine if I was fleeing a war torn country the last thing on my mind would be my teeth! Sick to death of all this at this stage

They're all it it. Go look at the facebook pages. Dental, Medicine , Physio. One there looking for spinal surgery.

Hundreds of kids who need daily doctors visits, everyone on the facebook pages seem to be pregnant too. What's that about? Childrens allowance?

I hope everybody get's sorted. I actually do. I be like "Jackpot" myself. But it's not really sustainable.
