In flying back to Stansted later so it'll be interesting to see how it is first hand. No check in bag so will give it about 2 hours which pains me considering in normal times that would have been about 30-40mins.

Arrival at 09:30 yesterday was a doddle. I got to Stansted at 06:00 for flight at 08:15 which left me with a lot of time to kill after security took all of 15 mins (fast track). Arrivals lounge was quite busy, toilets were a disgrace - I'll avoid going into detail.

Right now it's busy but moving. Zero departures queue until security. It took me all of 19 mins to get through even after my bag got pulled for a random check. Flight now delayed 15 mins though so glad I did not get here extra early.

The queue for Burger King on the way to FR gates is a bit of a joke though, I'll leave it until I land.

Hi, not exactly a Dublin Airport question but hope someone can help - does anyone know if Ryanair ever make more spaces available for the 'priority and 2 cabin bags' option? It's sold out for my flight on Wednesday. I've been on many fully booked flights and I've never seen this sold out before.

    Thanks in advance

Just through T1 there now. Said 40 mins but a bit longer than that. I Joined the queue at 6:15 and through just after 7. We’ll enough organised. A lot of corners turned!

In T2 this morning for my sins. Over an hour to check-in and so far 30 minutes in the security queue and still on the concourse to the short term parking. It's grand though, the app says 40 minutes for security so only another 10 to go.

DUB is so thoroughly broken it's almost funny.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Am flying Saturday morning with kids at 06.40 from T2 - have fast track. No bags to checkin. Anyone with recent experience around security times then?

Flying out T1 at 06:25 on Saturday, peak rush hour. Would it be worth it to just get there in the evening, check in, go through security and spend the night in the terminal? Would they even let me go through security a good 7-8 hours before my flight?

If you add my 1 hour commute and the advice to get there 3 hours early, I'd otherwise have to leave for the airport at 02:00 in the morning. I would much prefer to dodge around all the crowds and get there earlier in the night.

Has anyone ever stayed overnight in the airport?

Edit: seems like Ryanair no longer allows you to drop off your bag the night before, only Aer Lingus does. Very annoying

We flew last Friday at 6am from T2. We were there by 2.50, check in desk opened at 3 (there was already a queue), checked in by 3.30, through security by 4.15. without fast track.

The queues behind us (both check in and aecurity) were getting longer as we were waiting.

I’m flying out 30mins after you and intend to be there for 3.30. Your proposal is a bit mad tbh. Just hit the leaba early and leave your place at 2. You’re giving yourself plenty of time. Cannot beat your own bed, even for a short time.

Flying out 8:10 am today. Arrived by bus at 6am, through security in 15 minutes having a breakfast and into my gate. Easy peas stuff today.

Came through arrivals at Terminal One yesterday. What a complete mess. So many people waiting for their bags and the number of bags that seemed to be abandoned was incredible; they were everywhere . We couldn't even get to our bags coming off the belt there were so many people as they had two flights on one belt and people keeping stuck with the abandoned bags. Well done DAA for such a mess!!!

Flew into T1 early yesterday afternoon, our cases came through pretty quickly agree with previous poster, huge amount of luggage sitting in piles, a lot of air Canada for some reason.

Went to get the car in Short term C, no lifts working lol, we had 60Kg of luggage, mrs had to get the car , leave airport & re enter & pick myself & daughter up, she managed to pull in behind a bus for a minute so we could throw the luggage in after a few ‘words’ with one of the guys keeping the traffic moving

Not sure if you know already but if you contact the airport they will give you a lanyard that'll ease the journey.

5:30pm flight tomorrow with baggage to check in with Ryanair.

what time should we be at airport? 3pm?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,126 ✭✭✭✭Marcusm

Priority is set at 50% of capacity so if sold out I guess it would be dependent on people cancelling well in advance.

I did it two weeks ago. No hassle at all, I think I only got there an hour before flight - on my own, no bags. Actually I remember texting the family, it took 19 mins from boarding scanner to other side of security and that was after a random bag pull so slower than I'm used to from "normal" times but not bad by all accounts nowadays. If the security section off to the right is fast-track, that was open.

Has anyone done the checked in 10kg hand luggage with Aer Lingus? Can you tell me if the bag has to meet the size criteria for carry on luggage, or can it be any shape/size once it's under 10kg? Thanks in advance!

Went through airport on Sunday morning at 8am, aer Lingus in T2.

Check-in took maybe 20 mins security was 45 mins.

Not as bad as I thought but still fairly long.

According to official advice 2pm, 2.5 hours for short haul plus an hour for bag drop. Fridays are busy in the airport and it's the start of primary school holidays

Here now. Terminal 1. Queuing for 10 minutes. Sign says 30 minute queue time for security. Not a hope of it. What has happened? This used to be a nice easy airport to fly in and out of.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,205 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

    30 minutes in fairness.

Airside now and it's like downtown Delhi. Queue of around 100 people for butlers coffee (and it's not open). Bars are packed, Starbucks is packed and the shops are packed. Not enjoyable in the slightest.

The DAA must be making a packet on the incease in passengers airside requiring food and drink. Where are all these additional security staff that they promised would be trained and operational by now. And if they are still insisting that they can't retain staff then pay the employees more from the obvious increase in profits. I can't understand it, it's basic management.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,691 ✭✭✭Viscount Aggro

Longer waiting, queuing means punters will spend more. Great news for DAA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,361 ✭✭✭beggars_bush

Stressed flyers spend a lot less in the other retail outlets though

Hears hoping for a stress free evening up there

How is daa responsible for bags arriving late from other airports?

The bag issue was most likely caused by the baggage breakdown in Heathrow that caused a literal mountain of bags to be sorted and the requirement to use DHL and ups to get bags to destinations several days late

But sure just throw the blame on daa anyway

Thanks. I've contacted them multiple times with Doctors letter etc but getting nothing back. I'll be making my presence felt though when we are there to ensure we aren't queuing for hours.

No check in, just hand luggage.

    Am I allowing enough time?
