Heads up to anyone travelling on the W.B. Yeats. I just looked up the menus as I was going to use the restaurant for breakfast. Prices are gone up on a lot of things. Breakfast is now €27.95, it was €20 I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,417 ✭✭✭airy fairy

Do you get an alcoholic beverage with that? Is it a full Irish or buffet? Omg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89 ✭✭pmpa

It includes tea/ coffee, continental and hot breakfast. I justified €20 as everything is included and it would fill everyone so we wouldn't have to stop on the journey to eat. Travelling as 4 adults and 1 child ( 2 older teenagers).

Yikes- I think we'll bring our own cereals this year... shocking price.

On another note, we picked a club class cabin. Has anyone been im club class this year? If so, what's it like, please? Can you get tea/coffee and a snack included or do you pay? Thanks

Well if you got one or two breakfasts and shared it round, it's ok, but beyond that it's too much isn't it. And it's handy to be able to get on the road and not plan on stopping for a while.

Is this on the WBY? Only ever travelled Brittany Ferries, every year since before the Pont Aven, years of it.. We get the Commadore as we have a special needs teen. But interested to know what they offer.

Yes free tea, coffee & fruit juices.

Then it's a selection of meats and cheeses and small cakes. At breakfast then there are some croissants and yogurts too.

The main benefit of club is the nice quiet seating and free WiFi 😜

First time travelling on the W.B. Yeats, is there a bar in the club lounge?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,393 ✭✭✭Grassey

Small one. Selection of pints isn't great and g&t is expensive.

Woo!! This time next week I'll be on the WB Yeats. 😎

Going to get the 12 year old ab antigen just in case

Yes, on the W.B. Yeats. Will be our first time on that ship, travelled on the Oscar Wilde and Pont Aven many times. We will be returning on the Pont Aven.

I used to prefer travelling on the Oscar Wilde as it made me feel less sea sick than the Pont Aven, even though it was a smaller ship and the highlight was the priority boarding which means you were one of the first off. We can't get that on the W.B. Yeats as our car is over 2.2m high.

Stena were asking for Covid results in Rosslare-Cherbourg we had to get the 15yo one in Randox clinic. For €35 it’s cheap insurance compared to being turned away by an overly officious person. Temps have eased back now. Normandy is pretty pleasant now instead of mid 30s it’s now high teens /low twenties .

Do Stena need test results in addition to vaccination cert?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,670 ✭✭✭✭CJhaughey

For us Stena checkin wanted vax/recovery certs and the negative antigen test for a 15yr old. Here in FR it’s like Ireland no one cares😀

Heading into France on Friday. Myself the wife and 18yr all vaxed and boosted, my 14yr is vaxed and boosted but awaiting the updated booster cert. Am I right in that once he's fully vaxed regardless of having a booster he can enter. That's what I'm reading from the dept of foreign affairs

A vaccine dated within the last 270 days is enough so presumably their second was within that period.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 308 ✭✭Munsterbhoy

It will be 258 days, I'll probably be OK but will chase up the cert tomorrow. I requested it 2 weeks ago & they said it will take a week.

    Hi all

Any recommendations for campsites with pitches in the La Palmyre or Saint Palais Sur Mer area? Campervan with 3 young kids

We're staying in La Bonne Anse plage in a few weeks. Haven't been yet but reviews are good.

Heading to St Hilaire De Riez for 4th and last time (plan to head to Spain next year on the ferry) next week. We normally just stay very local and go to the beach and some small water parks in the area.

But kids are older now and we can try some other stuff incl touristy things which we'd put off in the past. I've booked a day in Puy Du Fou and will prob pick a wet/very hot day to go to La Rochelle and the aquarium there.

Any other recommendations from large water parks to Chateaus/Castles etc etc?

Noirmoutier is a nice trip to take. Watch the tide come in, a walk in the small streets if the town, nice affordable places to eat.

On the way into the island, there's the Papillon, where you see butterflies up close. Mine have to go every year.

We tend to stay in St.Jean de Monts most years when the kids were small it always felt like home.

Yeah I contacted the French embassy. Vaccines for u18s don’t expire so once they’re double vaxxed then good to go

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 419 ✭✭mrskinner

    Futuroscope?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,607 ✭✭✭mr_edge_to_you

I can see why you might be asking this......the Aquarium in La Rochelle is very impressive. Perhaps a tour of the Airbus factory in St Nazaire? You've already booked Puy Du Fou. If you've been to the area 4 times already (same as us) there's not a whole lot left to do.

Velorail in Commeqieurs too. It books out well in advance.

Humid, heavy, close choose the word & we have it despite lightning & heavy rain overnight. But there is a lovely breeze which although warm, does help! Western parts I hear had very heavy hail but either we’ve escaped or that joy is yet to arrive!

We're flying to Bordeaux next week and staying in Lacanau Ocean. Trying to work out best option for getting there from Bordeaux. Cost of a transfer is 150. Trying to avoid car hire as tis pricey. Never been to Bordeaux so some folks more familiar might be able to advise. Much appreciated!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,228 ✭✭✭kindalen

Look at going from the airport to Merignac, not Bordeaux city centre, and get a bus from there? Looks to be an hour and about 2euro.

Not used these myself but maybe look at French rideshare sites for part of journey? BlaBlaCar, GoCarShare, Zify France, Flix Mobility, and Carpool World
