minor footballers struggling against Derry, down 0-7 to 0-2 after 5min of the 2nd half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,749 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Into the second half of the minor game and Derry winning 0-7 to 0-2

It is dreadful stuff to watch in truth

disappointing from a Cork POV but Derry the much better team, well worth their lead of 0-10 to 0-3 after 45min

I be worried about next weekend against Galway. If Antrim can do this to us, what will Galway do?

RTE have made a commitment to show the Rugby next Saturday evening so that is why the hurling games are on so early

Will tickets be hard to get for the Cork game? Is online the best way to get the ?

I think we'll raise our game for Galway. Neither team will have any fears of each other, but if we play to our full potential then we can and will win.

1986 (the day Tom Cashman told the lord mayor of Galway to have a look at that.😁) 1990 and 2005 our all Ireland finals against Galway were very open games of hurling, with us of course thankfully coming out on top on all three occasions. We've never lost to Galway in a senior hurling all Ireland final, but they've beaten us on a few occasions outside of finals, since their first ever championship win over us in 1975.

The 1956 all Ireland football final, was the only time Galway beat us in a senior all Ireland final, and that Galway team had a Cork man in it by the name of Billy O'Neill. They've only won three senior all Irelands in both codes since 1988, and we've only four senior all Irelands in both codes since 1990. So for the largest and second largest counties in Ireland respectively, we both have been serial underachievers over the last 30 or so years.

    Four AI's in hurling alone 1990, 1999, 2004, 2005. Football: 1989, 1990, 2010. 7 senior in total since 1988 for Cork.

Galway won't be losing to us by 11 but we actually could lose by 11 to Galway.

I'm going into next weeks game with the belief that Cork probably won't win but more hopeful they will win than expectation. A bit like Oulart the Ballagh in the club Leinster championship. They were so used of losing that eventually they surprised themselves in one final and actually won it. We have a poor record against Galway as of late. If they play like they can on a good day, we will be in serious trouble and I hate saying it. If we get past Galway we have Limerick so it doesn't get any easier. Are Cork good enough to win All Ireland? not a chance but I'd only love to see a 1990 type year return again where Cork were poor that year too but somehow managed to win the big prize.

The way Antrim troubled us yesterday is a major cause of concern going forward and I'm pretty sure we will be having this conversation in a week or two.

Will Galway cause us problems, of course they will. Galway are well capable of putting in a bad performance too. Cork are well capable of beating Galway.

It really depends on which Cork turn up. Cork players and fans are asking the same question.

Our forwards don't believe in tackling at all. We just leave them up to the half way line every time.

    2 bad misses now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,749 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Our marking is non existent. No one close to their man at all. every limerick player is loose. So annoying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,749 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Hurley is very off form today which means a hard day for us

This is terrible stuff from us so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Amprodude

Cork asleep against Limerick. No marking at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭Widdensushi

Scoring seems very poor by both sides

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,646 ✭✭✭washman3

Clear foul on Limerick forward as he was about to shoot for goal.

Conveniently ignored by the RTE commentators.

Ian maguire about 6-7yards off his man. Useless he is.

    Jeez....horrible wides from us

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 34,962 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

We've been fairly poor, in a lot of areas.

Somehow, we actually take the lead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,646 ✭✭✭washman3

And he dived and earned a free for Cork to take the lead. Limerick player barely touched him.

Most likely be injured for the next game anyway as will Powter.

Both dont seem to fancy playing the big guns.

I thought he was very clever, nudged the ball away and definitely enough contact for a free.

A bit disingenious regarding the injuries to Powter and Hurley in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,749 ✭✭✭The White Feather

He dived? He got to the ball first and then was taken out. That seemed obvious and a deserved yellow card

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,646 ✭✭✭washman3

Both brilliant players with amazing ability, but how many times have both left Cork down on the big stage.?

A few phantom injuries thrown in along the way.!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,749 ✭✭✭The White Feather

What a balloon from Dineen there. This ref blows his whistle too much for both sides.

Great goal though for O'Mahony just now!

    'Phantom injuries.......'

Cork go 6 clear, very fussy ref.

Hurley has been very off form today. If he was on song, we would be 9 or 10 clear
