If you apply before you turn 35 then you’re okay. I know someone who was in the same position when they applied and they got through it all.

I have the exact same, any luck since?

Actually, did they say whether the notes can be taken on paper or do they have to be typed too?

Hopefully it can be on paper. You mentioned about Id needing to be verified too, are they asking us to send photo Id?

According to the honesty agreement/familiarisation you won't be able to use paper to take notes, just typing.

Seems silly, typing is not an effective note taking method for a video that is five minutes long or whatever and makes shorthand methods much more difficult. Still it's the same exam for everyone so no point reading too much into it.

did anyone hear anything regarding stage 2 ?

Not being able to take notes on paper will be tricky, especially for people who aren’t strong typers. It’s tricky enough scribbling it down on paper😂

So have they confirmed that it’s only report writing?

and we can’t take notes sure that’s will be impossible to get done so ?

Have emails only been sent to candidates rated 1-224 on the order of merit ?

I've found that there is only so much you can do beyond knowing the format/what you are being asked to do really.

Obviously it's best not to be doing it for the first time in the exam, so do a few practice runs in the lead up but I wouldn't say you are putting yourself at an advantage if you're practicing for hours upon hours. The main focus in practicing should probably be on knowing what you are doing/how to structure it.

The practice material on CS etc. is fairly limited anyway and with report writing it might even be counterproductive if you're listening to the same thing repeatedly.

We can take notes, just the notes have to be typed too, instead of written on paper

Would anyone who purchased either of CS or GardaIP stage two courses recommend them as the format of stage two has changed this competition? I’m thinking they may be still useful for structure and grammar etc

I’m doing CS and I think it’s worthwhile since the questions are at least a similar format and they give good advice

I'm doing GardaIP. I reckon I'll be called soon cos I placed in 300's. I'm finding the course material very good so far

Not to put a negative spin on it but. 97 Garda suspended atm. In 2015 it was 7, and they would have actually done something serious to warrant it. Says it all there. Destroyed from within.

Or maybe it's being tidied up now?

    More room for new recruits..

I see your point, but 97 seems a lot. Not to mention the member in Limerick that might be sacked because he put on the blue lights….

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 469 ✭✭Willie Stroker 1976

It almost seems like this stage many will pass due to it being straightforward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68 ✭✭blinkinghinds

Yeah but considering only two hundred odd have sat it I imagine that was always going to be the case. If they're only calling 200 hundred at a time and a high amount of that number are failing it would be a fairly prolonged process to get however many hundred they need.

I found it grand as well for what it's worth. Certainly much easier than the previous stage and I think most people will be fine with it so no need to worry.

I just completed stage two there, am I correct in saying it was only the one exercise? I'm afraid that I accidentally skipped the other parts.
