Is it taking be some from both the battery and grid ? If so, this would be because the immersion is larger than the permitted discharge rate of the battery. If so, you can reduce the charge rate on the Eddi.

If the battery won't discharge at all to anything, then you have a charging Time of Use profile running. Likely not charging (maybe set to charge to 30%) but blocking discharging if set to charge

Thanks! It looks like I have that document already included so. For the section in the NC6-01-R7 form titled "Corresponding Type Test Certificate"?, I will write "EN50549IE".

Solartricity got back to me, they said you put the Report No. in that section. In my case that would be 50330358 004, in the report it references EN 50549-1:2019 and the make/model.

Finally got my system up & running.

Question I have is around integrating a Pure Drive DC battery, linked into a Solis Hybrid Inverter, into a Myenergi ecosystem (I have Eddi/Zappi) for monitoring, hierarchy, etc..

As i understand it only AC batteries can be intergrated by CT, so how have people on here worked with their PD DC/Solis/Myenergi setups?

Pull both the Solis and MyEnergi stuff into HomeAssistant and control from there. See the Automation thread for further details.

Thanks! That is good to know. I too bought from Solartricity. They gave the Certificate of Conformity for the inverter too, but it doesnt have a Report No. listed. It is from last summer, so maybe I need a newer one. I will message them and ask them for it.

    Cheers!

    Hi ,

If i were to get Solar PV then how would I heat the water

    (a) Do I need to have an immersion installed in hot the water tank

    (b) Would i need to change the Hot water tank for any reason because I installed Solar PV's

Does the EDDI water diverter do this , does it connect the the immersion.

Once the PV's are installed is there a way i can track how much electricity is being generated by the Solar Panels and

how much I am using from the MAINS GRID. .

    (A) Yes you need an immersion in the tank, if you don't have one in the tank check if you have a blank on the tank where you can fit one.

    (B) Only if you do not have an existing immersion or a blank on the tank to fit one to heat the water.

The Eddi connects to your immersion and heats the water, there are ways to monitor usage of panels and the grid depending on your inverter type, and energy monitoring clamps others here can tell you about.

Hey folks, did anyone install an isolation switch when they installed their system?

I’ve had 2 installers advise against it, saying it would be too expensive. Yet to hear back from installer that’s putting in mine next week (wahoo!)

thought being being able to run off grid, really only in times of an outage.

don’t know if many of you have seen the EV puzzle channel on YouTube but Nigel there seems to have it set up with no issues. https://youtu.be/rYHwwJ9u06c

would be interested in thoughts on installing the switch and if anyone has done it on here.

Do you mean a changeover switch or generator switch?

Yeah It can be more hassle than its worth. Did get it done on Dads, but we were changing the consumer unit anyway so once we were at that stage it wasn't too much extra hassle.

i got one put in. (changeover switch ) handy enough , (for the sparks ) future proofed now .

I'll be getting one put in next month, how much were you charged if you don't mind answering.

here is someone who has an automatic switchover on a solis (he appears to be using the backup circuit so I presume his house load isnt that heavy). Now I also presume he's not in Ireland so I have no clue on whether this setup would be valid here. Just putting it here for those who might be interested ... (his circuit diagram is on his channel)

i put one in also few months back. bought the hager changeover switch for 48e and enclosure and glands for 20e. paid 90e to spark to install it. about an hours work for him

Getting a load of grid over voltage and no grid errors this afternoon, each time tripping out the house. Not sure if it's me or the network, ESB have no know faults in the area and no neighbours around to check with.

Inverter (6kw solis hybrid) hot to touch on top, only keep a hand on it for ~10 seconds before too hot to touch. Is that normal? Edit: 44°c

Have a call in with the installer but no response yet.

If the house is fed from the grid (no changeover switching), then if the house goes off, it's ESB plain and simple

Had an electrician out, sporadic voltage coming in. Looking like a loose connection on the nearest pole. Very windy here today so could easily have been damaged.

    Networks due out.

As an aside, is the temperature of the top of the case on the Inverter normal? 44°c

Yup, there was a corroded connection on the ESB pole.

Makes sense now, as it moved in the wind, I was disconnected temporarily, so no grid for exports to be sent out to.

All sorted now. The local line, from the transformer is due an upgrade as it's not powerful enough for the usage from the couple of houses/farms on my line, Networks upping the juice available so it'll be able for current demand and near future EV needs.

I've a new install with Solis hybrid, puredrive battery, eddi, and zappi. Yesterday evening had 90%+ in the battery and overnight the Solis just randomly imported and exported from the battery. It could have easily managed to run from battery overnight.

This morning sun came out and battery charged. The eddi is diverting also. Once the battery was full it just started constantly discharging approx 300W continuous even though the solar and battery could cover everything.

How should this be set best to prefer solar PV self-consumption and battery over importing & exporting?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭silver_sky

I got the Eddi & Zappi issues sorted. Changed Eddi to the master and set the export margin, threshold, and response delay.

Unfortunately it seems I'll be getting the installers back again, sick of them at this point. The backup isn't working. You'd think they'd test the bloody thing... FFS. With the switch flipped, the Solis is powered up and sitting there but house is getting nothing. 🙄

Did you get a changeover switch for your house, or are you talking about a backup socket?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭silver_sky

I got the changeover switch. No pics at hand but it's a very wide one on the consumer unit.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 8,299 Mod ✭✭✭✭Jonathan

I think I recognise your installation now from FB group.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 7,015 Mod ✭✭✭✭graememk

To change over my dads systems, theres 2 steps:

Activate the Backup mcb beside the inverter, this also triggers a NC contactor, breaking the AC feed to the inverter (to prevent the inverter from feeding itself)

Operate the changeover switch beside the fusebox. - House is now running on backup power.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,104 ✭✭✭silver_sky

Just looked it up there, this is what I have. It's a three position switch for changeover. The middle is off entirely.

When you switch that, what goes off? The whole house or is some things still on? Is the backup setting enabled on the inverter?

Put mine in the other night.

Put it in after the inverter coming in and electric shower.

    Powers everything else.

Would obviously need to remember not to boil the kettle or put on the oven if we're switched over.

Out in the sticks here, have had maybe 4 power cuts so far this year.

This will be a big help once I get the 10ah batteries in (only 2 at the moment)
