Jesus Christ they're barely in the door and you're already looking for them to be f*cked out.

JNLR's won't tell anything until after a full book (ie 1 year).

You have a tendency to do this with presenters you don't like. They're barely in the door and you wonder who would replace them or where they would go when they're not long in the job.

It's a grand show. Nothing rip-roaring but better than I expected, which wasn't much in the first place.

I think they’re great, a breadth of fresh air on the national media. I listen every day.

I think most of their detractors are commentators from the capital who don’t like seeing their leafy suburbs boys-club impinged upon by people from outside of the Dublin media class. I think it’s great that there’s more of a diverse range of accents and people from different backgrounds on RTE, and long may it continue.

Oh I am not suggesting that, I am just suggesting that the Regional music stations are likely fits for both presenters as much as 2fm is, of course if a regional was willing to pay them more than RTÉ then why wouldn't they after all... They did grow their base via the internet where national and international you can access those regional services as much as you can RTÉ 2fm!

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

One of the problems with the JNLR, and that excuse will be used for all of 2FM's currently schedule if they loses an audience "well you can't really judge based on these figures, you have to give it time".

They're only going a few months, why would they want to swap over to today fm?

What do you mean "likely fit"? Do you believe they don't have a national appeal, and by that Dublin alone does not define national appeal.

The internet usurped the RTE gatekeepers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,743 ✭✭✭RoTelly

No I mean they are more of a natural fit to stations like 2fm, Beat, Spin, iRadio and Today FM in comparison to other stations. I will included Red FM in Cork and Spin FM in Dublin, if that helps.

And the full quote should have been "the Regional music stations are likely fits for both presenters as much as 2fm is", I had actually said "as much as"

For the past 15 years at least, 2fm has killed careers. From Colm and Jim Jim to Hector to Chris and Ciara, anyone who left regional radio on the crest of a wave hoping that going national on 2fm would bring fame and fortune actually ended up dying a death on 2fm.

But how can you compare a year-on-year analysis if a show hasn't been on the air for a year?

The show is on from 3-6, so their first book and their fourth book is the barometer as it will measure the growth/decline of the show over the space of a year.

While we don't get them, stations get the individual quarter figures. That's what sometimes externally difficult to understand decisions are made on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,696 ✭✭✭yagan

You included regional and national stations together now, so specify regional previously?

What RTE is buying is the following the two lads already cultivated and brilliantly they cross generations in way that RTE attempts at cultivating shows on 2FM have failed for decades.

I am not. I was just suggesting where they might end up.

    What does even mean?

It's more likely they'll become the most secure fixture and even the saviors of 2fm.

If they end quiting radio and just doing podcasts that's what they'll do if it suits them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,743 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Well that could happen also. But it makes about as much sense as I do! <<<< 'tis a joke.

The best explanation for that is that they were either too Dublin or too country-centric for listeners in different parts of the country, and were unable to get the balance right.

I'm not a dub and would be the 2 johnnies target market and I think they're shite.

Hang sangwich, g'luck g'luck, plays county bai, burnouts lad, red linin' it ha, Junior B lad and smoking fags, SHIFT, pints, session, not right in the head, local character, Fitzy and Murph actin' the maggot out in the shed, young wans, footing turf etc etc.

    Pure braindead bile.

It's the most listened to commercial radio show in the country, so yes I'd call that a success.

Alot of very angry people here over a radio slot, the 2 lads are popular and will draw a lot of audience i would imagine...im sure 2fm will be ok that the 2 johnnies are not quie the likings of a dozen or so lads and ladies giving out on boards

That catfish is made up, it certainly has reeled in a certain clique

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,712 ✭✭✭Lisha

I don’t think it’s made it. The details are too specific and it makes no sense. You could make a story like it up. Insane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 247 ✭✭hayse

They work with chipper Ryan every day. Its the sum total of her career to be dreaming it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,712 ✭✭✭Lisha

😂 I don’t think the story is true as if you were to make up a catfish story you’d say you were stung for money or bribed etc…. Why would you just be messaging people for months at a time… insane

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 247 ✭✭hayse

Chipper Ryan and the Johnnys have all the time in the world to be at it.
