Where does he need to finish to guarantee Masters next year?

Well done Seamus Power. Watched the first 2 days but didn't watch it this evening. When Rory started dropping shots I said I'd leave it. And since then the wheels have well and truly fallen off, 6 shots dropped in 12 holes. Will tune in tomorrow evening, Seamus might be even closer if some of the others get jittery towards the end of their 3rd round.

He’s put himself in a great position to have a high finish in his second major and also consolidate his place in the top 50. Two majors and two very very good performances will have shown him that he truly belongs at this level if he had any self doubts at all. He can go out today and play his own game without any undue pressure as he surely has exceeded his own baseline expectations for the week, and everything else is gravy now.

It’s not an easy thing to keep yourself in the upper reaches of the rankings. Look at Victor Perez as just the most recent example of how quickly you can fall away so it’s great to see.

The putter seems to have gone very cold. Missed a birdies chance from less than 10 ft at 9 followed by a 3-putt at 10 from inside 25ft.

A number of players will be kicking themselves after today, none moreso than Seamus I would think. Conditions for him were perfect to follow up yesterday but look it, major pressure is something he hasn’t dealt with before and he put together a decent round after the fiasco on the 2nd hole. A top 10 in what could prove to be the most difficult major they’ll play this year is some achievement. Well done and that should prove to everyone he’s more than capable in these big boy events.

Another great milestone for Seamus, a top 10 finish in a major. Even though his putter wasn't on form in the end he only finished 4 shots behind the winner. If he had any doubts about his right to be at the top table those doubts should be well and truly gone at this stage. As Motivator said so many players will be kicking themselves this morning. So many of them could have posted that score if they had been less aggressive but then nobody really expected Perreira to collapse the way he did. Its so hard to win a major and those final 9 holes sort out the men form the boys, both in playing ability and mental strength. Happy that Thomas won, his putter wasn't on fire over the last 2 days but the rest of his game was very solid. Zalatoris's putting definitely cost him that major.

I think his trip home to Mt Juliet will be right up his alley, it’s a real ball strikers course and he could go very well. I’d say he’d rank an Irish Open win as high if not higher than his Barbasol win.

Looks like Seamus is well inside the cut with +1 after 36 holes. Currently 4 off the lead with the afternoon tee times to come.

Finally a big draw for Seamus in a big event by getting paired with Justin Thomas. Aside from Scheffler in the matchplay and Dustin Johnson in the Players back in March this is his biggest playing partner in terms of stature in the game.

Another top quality performance so far. in 10 rounds in Majors I believe he’s had just one double bogey - that is phenomenal scoring when you look at the three events and three courses he’s played, all courses he’s played competitively for the first time as well. A top 20 this week would be some return and who knows if he strings a few good holes together aim higher. Playing with JT should help him as well.

He’s going to be a hard man to stop in the Irish open also, the Mt Juliet course will suit him down to the ground.
