Struggling with this too. A good tip from someone was to follow instructions carefully. Have people used referencing for this? I'm not sure whether too?

I would say read the instructions carefully - if there's a lot of relevant legislation/policy linked to the area you have chosen then narrow your analysis down to one or two and don't go down research rabbit holes. It boils down to - what's the situation with this issue, what's your analysis of this policy area, and what and how would you move it forward. I would also think about what you're being marked on - its important that you can analyze information, pull it all together and present it well (I did use referencing)- but its also critical that you can make decisions about what actions you would take forward - so I would put a lot of thought into your two actions - these should stem from your research and should be clearly thought out. You are also being marked on management and delivery of results in this exercise, so think about how you would deliver these actions (costing, who would need to be involved etc). Hope that helps.

The exercise takes a lot of work - its a big ask for the amount of time - but remember its only a portion of your marks.

It just came through this morning, 4 and a half weeks, which isn't bad I've been hearing people have been waiting 6 weeks and there was Easter and the May bank holiday in there

Did anyone else find the interview panel extremely hard to read? My colleague did the interview today and is seriously downbeat after it but seems like nothing particularly went wrong, the board were just fairly inscrutable? Well done to all who got good results and good luck to all sitting it in next few weeks

The chair of my panel said “well best of luck with your future career”

I was convinced then I had failed but passed. As someone who has sat on the other side you’re under so much pressure to get everything recorded. I wouldn’t take too much to heart

The interviewers have a finite time to ascertain if you demonstrate the competencies required for the position My experience was that they wasted no time in telling you that they were either moving on or interrupt to ask a follow-up q. It can be off-putting however it wasn't unexpected given that the interview is for a senior managerial position. I'm sure that your colleague did better than they think they did.

One of my interviewers said thanks I've learned a lot today. Didn't know what way to take it at the time.

I must have had the same interview board as you as I thought they were really lovely. One of them remarked positively on my career which has been quite diverse. That gave me a really good feeling in the moment but I didn't for one second think it was in the bag!

@Kenrach yes quiet possibly one of the nicest interview boards I've had during a pas competition. Very positive about my experience and qualifications. But like you say didn't think I had it in the bag

Hi There and congratulations on doing so well so far. Would you mind telling me what number you were after stage 1 on intradepartmental comp. Just trying to judge if I will ever get called to next stage. I am for county outside of first 3 being called at moment?

Hi I was in the 700's for interd. if that is of any help.

Well done to all that passed the interviews in the last batch and thanks for all the help.

I have mine on the 16th May so fingers crossed.

Really struggling with report to the point of withdrawing so difficult to limit .. so much information! In terms of questions on report what did that entail? Thanks in advance for any tips

My scores for the AP 2021 were in the 900s for ID and 1200s for the open. Does anyone know what score they are at now for calling people to round 2? (Dublin) Thanks

I placed in the 400s on the inter departmental and 600s on the open in stage 1 and had my interview in April.

I'm in the same boat but am just trying to narrow the subject matter. I've gone down several rabbit holes. They want to know you researched and they want to know you can choose a couple of recommendations. It's only a third of available points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 Rudytutu

If you provided references for your strategic analysis report, did you go on to the third page? Struggling to stay within 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 954 ✭✭✭crinkley

I tried to footnote the references but it pushed me to over 3, eventually I just decided to keep it super vague like this report from SEAI indicated. I then elaborated in my interview on the references to show I researched extensively. You simply don’t have the space to reference properly for this exercise

Don’t give up! I felt the same, really struggled with timing & other commitments & very nearly didn’t submit, but you have to send it in to get the interview! In the end I scored poorly for report but enough to pass & made up for it in interview so got through to panel 😅 Just tidy it up as best you can & send it in on time, good luck!

Great news and best wishes in your new role. You must be excited

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,717 ✭✭✭tigger123

Just out of curiosity, what was the length of time between finding out you were successful got it, and getting your start date?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,717 ✭✭✭tigger123

sorry crinkley, I just realised I already asked that, and you answered! Apologies!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 954 ✭✭✭crinkley

No problem but just for anyone else this was my timeline

    1/3 results

    1/4 contacted about clearance

    4/4 forms sent to GVB

    13/4 found out department

    4/5 garda clearance completed

    9/5 contacted about start date

I'm an external candidate and the process was far quicker for internals in my batch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18 MenapiaH

Hello. Has anyone who received their results on the 29/4 been contacted yet? I am an external candidate and trying to work out timeliness in my head.

    All the Best

Does anyone know how long the current batch of Dublin candidate interviews are going on for? My email listed board members up until the 13th - but I assume they are going on for longer than that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47 pinkrunners

Top 15 in the batch where results were out April 29th and no word yet
