    expected to join this summer.

along with James Culhane, Rory McGuire, Diarmuid Mangan, Charlie Tector, Ben Brownlee, Sam Prendergast and maybe one or two more.

I'd imagine Conor O’Tighearnaigh would be one of them.

A lot of former u20's in that clubs team!

Gunne should be starting, Maloney is not as good. At least from what I've seen.

Here's an idea! If the regions go down to 3 regions, could Ireland supply another team? Or even a mixed team of Welsh, Irish and Scots? I know it sounds implausible, but with the amount of surplus players remaing in Wales and the talent coming through in Ireland...

Would this be doable? Or am I smoking to much funny stuff! Leave to those fools in the WRU to make a bullocks of rugby.

Could easily have a Dublin team and a Leinster team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

The league will have 1 team off every match day. Unless some other side is brought in!

There is absolutely no chance of Leinster being split to even up numbers in the league. This is possibly the most pointless discussion boards has ever seen.

I saw we replace the 4th Welsh region with Crusaders. And never see a Welsh team in the RCC again 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,356 ✭✭✭TRC10

    Lads it was meant ironically

Seriously though, Ireland doesn't need another team. 4 is optimum for our playing numbers.

This is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the suggestion that Dublin GAA be split in two when they compete in the All Ireland championship to reduce their dominance, and so Leinster should do the same because of their dominance in the URC.

It's a joke and not meant to be taken seriously.

Although as a Meath GAA fan, I strongly support Dublin GAA being split into as many pieces as possible...

Looking forward to a serious battle this week! I hope we're not undercooked. Some lads have been out or been rested.

The original idea to split up Dublin GAA was when they were doing badly and had not won anything in awhile.

As a Munster fan - very best wishes for Saturday in Welford Road. It is a proper rugby ground but hope ye and us win, and we can have a great day out in Lansdowne Road.

I wonder will SA push to add cheetahs as a 5th team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 798 ✭✭✭durthacht

There was a suggestion a few years ago that an English Championship team was considering joining the URC, so I wonder would it be financially feasible for any of them? Ealing might help to sell TV deals as a London based team, but I imagine the RFU would block that should it become a possibility.

Pretty insane for some of those Leinster As to go from playing against Springbok starters to an AIL selection in less than a week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,172 ✭✭✭arsebiscuits1

Without wanting to overhype the kid because I've seen literally nothing of him could Gunne be in with a shout of doing a Scott Penny and going straight into the academy from school?

I don't think there's a danger of another province poaching him offering him a full academy place to our sub academy as they are all fairly chock full of young 9s with the likes of Coughlan in Munster and Reilly and Devine in Connacht.

I know we have Ben Murphy there already but you'd assume there's room for another 9

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 882 ✭✭✭Lsdrugbyfan

Quite possible, i'd imagine he won't be announced into the academy in the summer and possibly join after preseason next season, but if he did join straight from school, I don't think anyone would be surprised.

I think if we've a fully fit squad to select from the starting 15 almost picks itself. The only question is if Ruddock deserves a start due to his excellent form. If we're looking at counteracting Leicester's strengths then Ruddock is the man to go with. He's quite a good maul defender and generally wins his one on one collisions. Leicester's game is based on solid set piece and winning the little battles around the ruck. Ruddock is the perfect player to counteract that.

But if Leinster want to take the game to Leicester and play expansively then Conan must start. His handling is excellent and can get us to the edges faster as well as posing a significant carrying thereat in his own right.

Very good, insightful article. I truly believe Keenan is in the "world class" bracket and I don't use that term lightly.

This is in no way a criticism of Keenan or Blackrock, but the fact that a 4th year who wasn't even on the radar for the SCT has access to slow motion video analysis, one-on-one S&C training and his own personalised strength programme highlights the almighty advantage schools players have over club players.

You could do slow-motion video analysis of someone's sprinting technique with just a phone - if you had someone to hold it and video you.

Huge call putting Big Joe on the bench, hope it works out. I would have went with either Josh Murphy or Jack Dunne, one is in great form and the latter looks solid at the set piece.
