Let’s hope that this stuff isn’t dragged on for the whole summer by the media.

Great respect for Katie, but hopefully we won’t have to listen to this crap for half the Summer

as the luvvies try to blag their way into the ‘gold seats.

We don’t really need another ‘Garth Brooks’ scenario.

They are at it all ready on todays Drivetime .

I notice that the sports reporter rte sent out for the fight, was even talking up a rematch in Croke Park literally a few hours after she had won.

Not a mention of the gaa or anything. He was deciding himself that it would be on. Because big events at Croker always happen without any issue.

He didn't mention the Aviva. The RDS. Thomond.

Both her and her promoter were talking about it minutes after she won so I don't see the issue with a reporter reporting on it.

Anyway,I think she should retire now but she wants to continue so I hope the rematch is at Croker.It would be a memorable Irish sporting occasion, why anyone would be moaning about that I don't know.

I'd be surprised if a) this rematch happens this year and b) it's in croke park.

There are a lot of people who need to be brought on board least of all the insurers who all have refused to cover pro boxing events since the regency hotel murders. While KT will bring a different crowd, they will need time to calculate the risk. Secondly, Croke parks calendar is completely booked up for 2022, and a winter bout there would be awful.

Secondly, croke park is a terrible venue for something like a boxing match. Up in the gods in the Cusack stand you'd be as well at home watching it as all you will see are specks moving about or end up watching on the big screen. Aviva, while not perfect would have the stands closer to the action. I'm not convinced either that there is enough interest in pro boxing to fill the likes of croke park so a smaller venue might be preferable. 3 arena would be perfect tbh from a spectator pov.

As great as KT is and all, anyone who partakes in high level boxing is complicit in the scummy actions of all those involved at the high level.

Agree with almost all your points ….however…..the fact that the ‘interest’ in boxing is indeed small will not be an issue.

Every dog in the street will be looking for tickets just to say they were there even if they couldn’t tell a boxing glove from a pot roast.

You can be sure the media will be poking this day and night as you know how much these coves like ‘de partie’ the ‘homecoming’ if you will.

I do not like boxing and think it should be banned... i think women boxing is absolutely revolting... I had a conversation with good friend when Katie came to the fore and he was praising her and we disagreed... He has 3 not bad looking daughters... When i said how would you like to see your girls in a boxing the heads off each other he altered his opinion...

Agree, at the end of the day combat sports are for thugs, followed by thugs.

It's a shame that it's the main sporting skill Ireland can export, then you have a gentlemans sport such as tennis and Ireland has absolutely nothing on the world stage.
