    Cold and damp, North Wicklow.

    Very cold at night.

But, still a beautiful time of the year.

A cool and damp day, heating on this afternoon. Still lighting fires every single night after 7pm. Here in Meath it's been an almost a re-run of last April, cold and mostly bright and plenty of frost. Yesterday was probably the best day of the month so far and for once it wasn't chilly. Sick of the cold now and hopefully we won't have too much longer to wait for temperatures to finally start rising above 14C.

April Shower now, might actually be rain.

A complete write off of a day here in Meath, steady moderate rain for several hours now.

Poured rain here all night and still wet this morning. Raining now for almost 24 hours, easily the wettest weekend stince February.

Sweet Jaysus, today is even worse than yesterday!

Hasn't stopped raining here in NCD since yesterday morning, feels cold aswell only 11 degrees.

What a miserable May Bank Holiday weekend. More like winter than May.

I'd be raging if I booked a weekend break away in Ireland, you won't leave the hotel in that weather.

Yes, all the April showers are happing at once today. In May.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 17,415 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

Thankfully we will finally see a lift up in temperatures from Wednesday this week with temperatures hitting 15 to 18C more regularly and it will feel more like late Spring than the winter style temperatures of the past month. However we are likely to see rain or showers at times so May is unlikely to be as dry and settled as March and April.

At last we could get out and about today.

Very disappointing day for May Bank Holiday but there wasn't even a whiff of a breeze out in Howth so actually felt quite mild even though only 13 degrees.

Roll on those warmer temperatures Gonzo as shocking that we all still had to wear our winter coats in May.

I would agree a very dissapointing bank holiday weekend in terms of weather, 2 wet days and today a cloudy damp day but at least it is beginning to feel alot milder than it has over recent weeks even if there is very little in the way of sunshine. The lack of wind is also most welcome.

Don't shed a clout till May is out...

I think we really needed that consistent and steady dump of rain over the weekend, miserable as it was. It will pay off now with a very lush burst of green if temperatures pick up at all.

it's so eerily still in Dublin today

a lovely day in Meath, plenty of cloud around but also some warm sunny spells. Feeling so much warmer than it has over recent weeks, I think we have finally turned a corner on the very chilly windy conditions and night time frosts until the Autumn. Reached 17C here a short time ago which would make today the warmest day of the year so far in this area.

18C recorded at Phoenix Park, perhaps that is the warmest day of the year so far in Dublin as well.

Feeling warm and the clouds have that thundery look to them here in Dublin. It actually feels like summer!

I noticed a rather thundery looking sky earlier too. 16C currently and it's almost 8pm, impressive considering around this time just a few days ago it was single digits.
