Contractor Charges 2022

Cashflow is going to be key for contractors this year with the price of diesel being so prone to swings in pricing. Pay on the day or the next wet spell will the name of the game here when paying contractors this year.

If we don't we are going to lose a good number of guys who are providing a big service to us farmers. You could see swings in pricing for pit silage on a weekly basis depending if there is big swings in oil prices

I heard parts, oil have all gone up massively as well (I imagine it’s true, but don’t know for sure)

I don’t cut silage, so doesn’t affect me directly. Just commenting that it’s not only diesel has gone up…

this year we are charging €9 inc vat for baling and wrapping (no plastic included),rake and Tedding €12+vat and mowing €15+vat

Yeah the mowing sounds like a last year's disc mowing price. Fair play anyway for posting your prices.

mowing is done with a 10ft none conditioner disc mower.

Its €100/ha, €40 per acre. I would call that a fairly good help in fairness. Will contractors just hump the price up further though?

See a few advertisement of farmers selling grass for silage, maybe they have reduced numbers
