Armagh are on the other side of the draw.

True , for some reason I thought Armagh played Down next , winners facing Cavan//Fermanagh.
Ah heads all over the place :(

Thats completely down to Banty. Strange appointment and the wrong one. Tried to sit on the game and lost it.
Hopefully that is the end of him.

I have been saying it for 10yrs plus that Banty is nothing but a total chancer..

A lot of that Monaghan team have a lot of mileage on the clock now.

I thought the ref was very favourable to yas throughout as well today.

Any videos of the Chris McGuinness sending off? Few calls a bit iffy is right, think Cavan should have had a 45 in the first half and maybe a McAnespie point was a bit tight.. Hard to blame that on the ref, he is going by the umpire..

Not too sure what to make of the tactics, if it worked we might be applauding Banty! Against that wind if a team is going to sit back and you have the lead, why not play it back and forth? McManus missed 3 big chances at the end of 2nd half that he would usually nail! If he gets them maybe its a different story! Not sure why Beggan didnt take that last free as he went to score one from there in extra time!

Fair play to Cavan they hit some big scores in the last 20 mins and got the goal in extra time!

Couldn't watch the game today but heard McManus and someone else got injured. Who was the other ? And are they bad injuries?

    Darren Hughes.

Wasn't at it but was chatting to an official coming out of the pitch there, he seemed to think they'll be fine.

Good to have that one done.

Needless to say the win today pales in comparison what happened last. Rip Brendan óg Duffy

No point trying to make sense of it, because it never will make sense. RIP Brendan Óg

    Any Monaghan people there?

Banty is incapable of of directing things once a game starts, Has always been his Achilles ankle. Well up in the first half, squanders the second. Frustrating,

    Great day.

I think that was a watershed moment for Monaghan football, lots of responsibility given and responded to.

It was,, it’s a shame that Dublin , with a population in the millions , are Roinn 2.

    Monaghan , 60,000, are Roinn 1 😃😃😃😃

    Where's Gary Mohan/Mone from ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,546 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

    Truagh.

Gosh, Down are poor. Some lovely footballers but a poor team. Hard to know where Monaghan are at after that...and I'm soaked to the skin! 😓

I planned to go but had a few things to do and it was on sky. Down were poor, but the weather didn’t help either team. Comfortable enough victory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,546 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

The weather deprived us of a couple of goals I think.

Some peaches of points scored too. Even though Down scored those two goals the result was never in doubt. Monaghan stuck to the job in hand well.

Yeah, even with conceding 2 goals it was never really in doubt. The team played well within themselves as was. Managing it while looking forward

So derry in the semi , surprisingly.

Didn't see anything scary there. Like Down Tyrone were poor.

Very poor today. Too many wides and soft goals. Was never going to be pulled back. Derry fully deserved it.

Banty not able to change things up from the sideline AGAIN.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,288 ✭✭✭awaywithyou

Banty is an out and out chancer.. what the monaghan county board do be thinking putting him in charge of any of their teams... he hasnt a clue... and he is getting away with it with years at this stage.... he was a disaster across the border in Meath... he has won absolutely nothing of note..... malachy rourke far superior...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,546 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

No argument there. Instead of investing in a good hardworking earnest team they went for standing still and all we have done is regress. Didn't even hit the level we played in the league today and that was poor enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,588 ✭✭✭✭cj maxx

Amazing point from Jack. The team looks very disjointed overall, with Rory missing frees

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,546 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

Sweet score. Missing too much and off the pace though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,588 ✭✭✭✭cj maxx

Just off the boil , 3 wides. Though a ridiculously harsh penalty imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,588 ✭✭✭✭cj maxx

How come there hasn't been a water break on that day. Had them during the league I think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,588 ✭✭✭✭cj maxx

    Discipline costing us again

Deserved to be level in a poor game for both sides. Refereeing was atrocious,

I think we will see a raft of retirements now and a rebuild. Wish it was the end of Banty too
