Any chance Ed Sheehan will play at half time? Or should we be loyal to Paddy Casey.

I’ve a feeling it’ll be closer 35k on the day. It’ll likely begin to slow now, but could pick up closer to the day too. Here’s hoping anyways!

This is brilliant but it's also the easy sell. The match clashes with at least 4 counties in Munster playing in GAA Championship matches that same weekend, that's bound to have an impact on ticket sales.

I’d imagine it will be a lot closer to that than 25k. Fairly sure it should attract at least 5k in neutrals plus what ever traveling support there is.

Don't forget everywhere is struggling to fill stadiums post COVID, be it for sport or for music

Why is this thread still talking about attendance in the Aviva when we should be celebrating a fairly epic win last night. First win up there in six years! Definitely makes us look safer for champions cup next season and still in the running for at least 2 trophies.

First half was a continuation on last week, flew out of the blocks and defensive line was superb, Keith looked better for the gametime. The backrow was massive again and PoM wasn't missed. Casey to start games with Murray coming on to finish could be a brilliant tactic.

Ulster were better in the second half, however Lowry at 10 murdered them, Hendo didn't really impose himself and Balacoune got marked out of the game.

Keep up this level of performance when adding in Coombes, Kilcoyne, Beirne, Zebo/Conway and we could really give the end stages a rattle

Over 27k today at Limerick v Waterford, Limerick host Tipp on the 8th May, that's another 27k+ not available to head to The Aviva.

Cork host Kerry at PuR on the 8th too but that's a much lower capacity but again it will have some impact on who'll travel to Dublin the day before a championship match in their home county/province the following day.

Munster has had a great start with ticket sales, hopefully some of that momentum will continue with sales continuing over the next few days and then again in the lead up to the match. Hopefully winning last night and another win next weekend will get people interested in attending the QF.

I can guantee you that there'll be plenty of cross over between the Munster crowd on the Saturday and the Limerick v Tipp crowd on the Sunday. Going to one doesn't exclude going to the other.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,512 ✭✭✭✭phog

That's true and I never said there wouldn't be fans attending both games but there will also be some fans that will only be able to get to one game.

Jaysus there’s some mountain been made here re having game in Dublin and competing with Gaa matches …if 30 k plus travel to Dublin which is a very distinct possibility it’ll be more than we could fit in tp….win win for fans and coffers of Munster rugby ……yes it’s a shame we can’t have it in our home Venue but that ship has sailed

Talk of Leamy being the new defence coach from Jackman, not a bad call as he'll bring a lot to the party.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,512 ✭✭✭✭phog

If that's aimed at me you've misread the room.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,512 ✭✭✭✭phog

As per my post in the match thread Ferreira will be a huge loss, if Leamy can match him then having him with Rowntree is the makings of a great coaching ticket to have as he'll have the old Munster link too which some people seem to put a lot of weight on.

Sorry not aimed at you just a gen comment from reading back page or 2 👍

Friday night's game v Cardiff is a must win game but it's also one where we will probably see some rotation. I think Ben has to get some game-time this weekend, he's benched for the the full 80 in the last two outings. I hope we see some of Coombes, Killer, Beirne and Conway making a return to training/playing in the near future. We're at the business end of the season now so we need them all really.

Just looking at the tickets left for the Munster V Toulouse match in the Aviva - the only tickets left are at either goal end or up in the gods. I find it hard to believe all side view tickets were sold already - some up to €55. Or am I missing something here?

    I know, I know - it's a first world problem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,512 ✭✭✭✭phog

I'd imagine it's the same as most stadiums where there's a possibility of not selling all sears, some tickets never went on sale.

Corral fans into the same area, where cameras will be facing to give an illusion of a bigger crowd.

As demand increases they can open up more sections.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,269 ✭✭✭✭aloooof

They'd be a huge boost, and getting the game in against Cardiff would be a real help too. We saw earlier in the season, Coombes took a game or 2 before he was back to his best after injury.

I'm always wary of Cardiff, it always seems to be a really open, high-scoring game against them. Could be entertaining at least.

Cardiff have still 4 URC matches to play and will probably need to rotate a few players too, I think (hope) they'll target their home game V Zebre and away to Dragons and away to Treviso.

Toulouse have a large allocation currently as well

I wonder by holding the game in Dublin would that benefit the travelling support, certainly Dublin Airport has a better timetable/choice of flights but then would accommodation costs be a deterrent? I know even though I live about 20 mins from Shannon most of my flights would be out of Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 803 ✭✭✭jcon1913

I know its a bit of a cliche to say they dont, but do French fans travel in large numbers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,512 ✭✭✭✭phog

No but if easier access or if flight scheduling allowed for it then you might see an increase in travelling support.

I know, I got a day trip to the Wasps game that meant I could go, if the trip meant an overnight then I couldn't have traveled.

They had about 5,000 very noisey fans when they played Leinster in 2018.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,436 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

I was looking at flights out of curiosity and seems nearest airport with flights is Paris if skyscanner is to be believed. Maybe there would be a charter separate to that or fans travelling on team plane though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,436 ✭✭✭✭Eod100

Still no word on a few of those rescheduled games. Wonder if the results don't affect play off or champions cup qualification will they still be played? Guess they could always be played on weekends of URCc qf and sfs if none qualified for them

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,008 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lost Ormond

There is. they play Munster this weekend then the others on each of weekends after

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,512 ✭✭✭✭phog

They play their games on the next 4 Fridays.

    Away to Munster

    Home to Zebre

    Away to Dragons

    Away to Treviso

That's why I think they'll target wins v Zebre & Dragons and hope for something from Treviso.

Tribe is a fairly decent free App for all your rugby competitions. I use Energia AIL for the AIL games.
