Given the link you posted as 'verification' stated

The examinations of the portable drive by Green and Williams were largely inconclusive. Both researchers, who worked independently of each other, determined that the data contained on the drive was so compromised by a variety of factors that definitive conclusions about most of its contents were impossible.

You might want to consider revising that 'not reading the whole of the article' policy

undoubtedly true, its the optics though, it makes Biden look weak and disrespected, sad really

Read the whole article. They were able to verify 22,000 emails on it, not just with the Google metadata that is almost impossible to fake, but by cross-referencing them with known documents, bank records etc. The emails have metadata spanning up to five years. It's real.

From the main article: "The Post analysis included forensic work by two outside experts who assessed the authenticity of numerous emails related to the CEFC matter. In addition, The Post found that financial documents on the copy of Hunter Biden’s purported laptop match documents and information found in other records, including newly disclosed bank documents obtained by Sen. Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, a senior Republican on the Senate Finance and Judiciary committees."

It's his laptop. Worse for Joe and hunter though, is that the FBI have a copy of the hard drive from before it was distributed, most of the press have the same distributed one. Which means the FBI will be able to verify a lot more on it than the degraded copies that were going around. Now another source claims to have undeleted 450gb of data off the disk image and is going to publish it online.

Hunter has not denied it's his laptop.

Serious question, can the world really afford another 2 1/2 years of Biden administration?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 521 ✭✭✭DontHitTheDitch

The worst part is Kamala Harris looking back and then awkwardly blanking him. The main point wasn't that he was 'lost', it was that no one seems to have wanted to talk to him. It's crazy really that the most powerful man in the country is standing in a packed room and struggles to get any attention.

If only you guys gave as much time and attention to serious issues as you do to meaningless edited videos. That's what actually sad.

Huh! Biden Phones are a completely real talking point. But you know what? I like it? Why? another tale told in a comic strip of images...

But, will the mark of the beast people do a concern? Probably! Maybe? They are immigrants after all.

Student loan pause extended through August 31.

Public student loan debt is about $1.4T.

PPP was about $0.7T, and it was almost all forgiven, and a lot of it was used for paycheck protection fraud. I don't see why we cannot just forgive the student loan debt, other than the fact that the mechanisms still exists to simply accrue more in the same unsustainable way.

If that's done, there'll never be the reform done in higher Ed in the US. It's an incredible gravy train, there's no incentive to educate well, it's all about moving the bodies through and minting crap degrees. One of the things I am concerned with is the influence of "Dr." Jill Biden, who fed at the higher Ed trough and still plays at being a professor.

As a US citizen and voter I'd vote against anything that forgave the student loan debt without some concomitant change to higher ed- like some accountability visibility to university budgets, some truthful (audited) data on placement of graduates in jobs by educational institution, disclosure of salaries including pensions and various benefits (sabbaticals, for example) that instructors and administrators get, and so on. American higher Ed is bonkers, and making it free won't fix it. Yeah, I know, I voted for Biden and this came with him, but it's not done yet and hopefully can be reformed. Loan forgiveness would be a really bad thing.

The fact that she sat through the utter bullsh1t spewed by the reps without snapping shows that she has the judicial temperament to sit on the SC.

No doubt the usual suspects will be back to call her a 'token' appointment when practically every SCOTUS appointment is made with certain characteristics in mind.

Of course the 'tokenism' here is about skin colour, so the lads can't help themselves.

"Conservatives" (they're closer to fascism these days) don't really care about definitions or the actual science, it's all about control. They might be less hateful and judgemental if they focussed on their own lives more instead of other people's bodies. Bunch of weirdos.

Hahahaha I completely missed this. Gobshites looking for a clear definition and they can’t even agree on one themselves.

”My wife,” is the top tier answer there.

Fundamentally , their only control over their voters is through keeping them permanently angry and afraid of "something".

They have absolutely nothing positive to offer their voters that could make their lives even a little better so they just convince them that everyone else is trying to destroy all that they hold dear and that only the blessed GOP can save them.

CRT!! , Transgenderism!!!! , Wokeism!!!!! , Socialisim!!!!!!! , the boogeyman is coming to get you!!!!!!

None of that is remotely true of course , but fear and anger are powerful emotions and the GOP have weaponised that in their quest for power and influence.

Do people have to live in the US to have an interest in US politics?

This nonsense is thrown out every now and again, and it basically says you’re not allowed to have any other interests other than those that directly impact you, and even some of those you’re not allowed to have either.

    It’s typical conservatism. Control.

^ that's a whole other mess we've yet to resolve.

Ghost Gun segment shows NBC able to purchase a gun which is 99% functional (80% functional?), sold alongside the tools to make it 100% functional, without background checks or serial numbers.

ATF is interested in the segment as a matter of what they then did with it, not because the report was incorrect: the reporter bought the gun, but he later brought it to another state to have others complete. "But we also could have done it ourselves" NBC reported. This type of transfer is what ATF is investigating NBC for now.

re the student loan debt, i presume this is debt owing to the 3rd level institutions, so writing it off essentially means the taxpayer pays the debt to those institutions.

as far as i know even if you declare bankruptcy your student debt can never just be written off even via personal bankruptcy?

TBH this doesnt even belong in the JB presidential thread as its a problem that predates him by i don't know how many years.

did the US government do something at some stage (maybe the above not allowing bankruptcy, or by guaranteeing repayment, or no private loans allowed?) that has lead to a huge inflation in fees cos there is no competition in that particular loan market?

at the same time, you cant just write off the debt and put it on the taxpayers. as in, why should i, a carpenter for example, take a hit for your college debt?

the problem is 3rd level institutions (certainly in ireland, and i presume that model was taken from the US) offering useless masters courses for 10k a pop that lead to no jobs. just a few more letters after your name that mean nothing. like how is a masters from ucd for 10k (in some obscure field) more expensive than a tax qualification at 2k from the ITI? (for the most part, some masters are necessary).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,614 ✭✭✭Cody montana

    It’s progress.

We as a country are an example of that.

No student should be saddled with that level of debt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,422 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

they shouldn't be, but they took it on knowingly.

no way should the non-going college people be made subsidise it though. if you didn't go to college, and the average worth of debt forgiveness is 5k per student that did go to college, should everyone that chose not to go get a 5k rebate?

what about the people who have already repaid their debt - do they get a rebate?

this is a function of useless, very expensive degrees that lead to no job. so now we want someone else to pay.

I don’t have children but I pay for schools.

    Same logic.

    Education should be free.
