I've asked them (NMD) but they have not replied.

There is 2 things at play here.

Are there any exemptions for it? I don't believe there is. Any structure higher than 1.2m forward of the front building line requires planning. So the question is does this constitute a structure or works? You could lodge a Section 5 Application now. This is an official application that askes the Council to confirm if the proposal as described constitutes works and thus requires planning.

Now Planning is the least of my worries here. My big concern is over sailing of the public Carraige Way, which the path forms part of. I don't believe you will get Permission for a structure that over hangs the path like this. There are Bye Laws and Regulations for Local Authorities to follow when installing anything on the footpaths etc but all the regs state that these are for Authorities, no private residences.

My "Side Hustle" is Planning Applications and i'd love to test the case here, but nobody has approached me about it yet.

The latest one you have seen is in the Dublin 11/9 area. In and around the Iona Road (I know the exact address but i wont post it publicaly) and this area is specifically sensitive with regards to development and its an ACA Area. I would imagine if anyone is going to complain, it will be residents in this area. I've lodged 3 applications in and around this area and all 3 were met with objections from residents and Residents Associations.

I definitely will have an objection. The next door neighbour has already lodged a complaint with a minor problem that my architect has deemed incredibly small (petty).

Also the house is an old (1888) house and is likely a protected structure in an area that might not look favourably on this.

It's looking more and more likely that in a year's time I'll have to sell the EV and look at another diesel. Great.

Grant forms were delivered to SEAI on the 11th of March

They only received them in their office on the 30th of March, big delay with their mailroom I was told and it will take a further 6-8 weeks if everything goes smoothly and ill get paid

    So looking at May

**** ridiculous but typical Ireland and state bodies.

    Alright money bags!!! 😀

Maybe some people need the money to pay for something else, little bit of inflation going on at the moment.

Thanks for the info was going to contact them to get an idea of how long it would be. Sent the application and paperwork 2 weeks ago.

It was quick for solar panels (couple of weeks) but that was last year.

Quick question if anyone has myenergi hardware for solar system.

I have Zappi, Harvi, Eddi and hub setup. The Eddi drops ever so often (not much distance between that and the zappi which is set as the master so that shouldn't be the issue). Just wondering if anyone with similar setup has that issue too.

Have to say the myenergi is great, I've given up social media nearly now and spend a lot of time on it tracking the energy usage. I think that alone helps the energy consumption.

I got an untethered charger for one simple reason: my driveway is short and has no gate. I don't want to draw attention to the charge point, especially as we're the only ones on the street who have one. Not that I'm worried about others charging: the EO is set to only let the juice flow during night hours. Just don't want a big cable tempting someone to steal it for the copper.

I sent them an email about this because the time zones in the app are a mess. They advised me to set it to GMT Standard Time which they said automatically adjusts for daylight savings time. Seems to be working: charger starts charging at midnight.

I reckon it's more that some folks love complaining.

Nope we're not all money bags like you

I got bills to pay and with the state of costs across the board, every penny counts more than ever

It's the hyperbole that's annoying from the everything is shite crowd. It's a grant this is how it's works. OMG you have to wait a few weeks longer than you expected, the country is fucked. Get real. Try being grateful for the grant instead of entitled.

Did a bit of surfing back there, have to say that looks fantastic its pricey but if you can afford it why not ( I couldn't justify it).

But I would see it similar to say to outside lighting you can stick on an ugly flood light or say install fancy integrated visually pleasing lights. They both do the job but very different cost so each to their own.

Mine was an ends to a means, will do some refurbs/building hopefully in a few years (older house). So wasn't too precious about it.

Isolator switch and cabling my biggest issue. Mine was half the price but fairly evident why😉

I suppose you have no notion of what's like for the average man when you can spend 2400 on a charger, the 600 euro grant is probably chump change to you but for other people it's quite alot especially at the moment when bills are really rising

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,259 ✭✭✭✭ted1

In fairness the grant is an entitlement, and probably responsible for keeping installs artificially high

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭Manion

Meh, you don't know anything about me. My situation in life is more to do with luck than anything else, I bought a property at the right time and pay a fraction on mortgage of what young people today are expected to pay on rent for hovels. I consider myself very privileged. We live in a deeply unequal society. Look, feel free to be miserable and wound up because the state, with all the problems it has to deal with isn't moving fast enough. You sound like someone whose never had to try to get emergency tax back from revenue.

That's a fair point, Its clearly a sub directly to the installer. All the same it seems there's still not enough money in it given the reduction in vendors.

Yes - I did notice that it seems to have eventually adjusted by itself after a few days. It certainly didn't update when the clocks actually changed , it was 3 or 4 days later.

Are the Anderson and Hypervolt chargers available to buy here?

    Stay Free

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 368 ✭✭PN14

I bought a Hypervolt in January direct from their UK site no issues

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 222 ✭✭Latro

I bought Andersen recently directly from them. They did not charge vat.

It was added later by the customs I think - in total around 300 euro.

Hi, in process of getting quotes for first install. Should be standard enough install in newish house. Getting quotes of around €1350 for wallbox or zappi. Does this seem reasonable enough?

Not bad not brilliant. I got a Zappi for 1260 inc Vat back in January. But I feel like prices may have crept up since then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭Manion

Energia will do a EO Mini Pro for 1450 - https://smarthomestore.energia.ie/energia-branded-eo-mini-pro-2-tethered-install. A zappi I think it generally considered a better charger so you're coming in 100 euro less. Either way, it's all in and around the same ball park. Folks talking about getting anything installed for less than a grand are most likely out of touch with where the market is at.

Cheers, who was install with if you don’t mind saying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 981 ✭✭✭Decoda

Recently got a tethered Zappi installed for €1465 including vat. The installation involved an approx 25m cable run through the attic and a MyEnergi hub. Installation was by a well known installer from Waterford. I have no affiliation with the company just a very satisfied customer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,824 ✭✭✭mailforkev

EasyGo/carcharger.ie installed a tethered Wallbox Pulsar Plus for me last week for €1,199. Had to wait a few weeks though.

    I think they’ll do a basic Pulsar for €999.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 437 ✭✭All in all

Yes, I think I know who you are talking about! Him and another had matching quotes, most others slightly more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 981 ✭✭✭Decoda

Like I said, I've no affiliation with them but I would have no hesitation recommending them, the installation was faultless, quick and professional. All paperwork for the grant application filled out and provided on the day and the invoice emailed the next day.

I filled out about 3 online quotes one evening and they were first back to me following morning, very efficient with couple of queries also. I will just check who can install soonest.
