Socialising/Drinking Buddies

Being a single female in your 30s is fine, but it kinda sucks socialising wise. Most of my friends are married off having kids in different counties/countries and unavailable to head out for a night on the town. But alas, c'est la vie. Is there some kind of online group where I could make friends so we could socialise? I'd imagine there is one in Dublin, but I'm based in Laois, so wonder if there's one there 🤔 Any thoughts?

Pickings are fairly slim outside Dublin. There's always the Portlaoise car shows at the Maldron.

It's a hard one OP.

You will struggle to meet strangers to socialise with, that are not complete piss heads.

Rural people in their don't 30s socialise so much, or so I observe during my travels. Not sure if this is a recent development, perhaps Netflix etc is an more favourable way to cure boredom than planning nights out.

A hobby is my advice. Something that has competition attached, ie dancing etc

That's not true, I've made friends after school in work, through mutual friends etc. It's just unfortunate for me that they're just not free and single and available to hang out as much as back in the day

see i know you are using that as a jibe and thats fine but let me ask you a serious question

when we draw on experience , is it our own or other peoples ? , surely we can only speak for ourselves and that has been mine but ive met plenty others who had the same one , rural folk have many fine qualities but being open to friendship with non locals isnt one of them , thats just how it is

Get yourself up to a rave in Dublin some weekend, few glasses of water ;) you will make any amount of friends, then just meet up with them again some other night etc Country people aren't great for making new friends, I agree with mad maxx.
